1976 280Z Restoration Project
Ha! I have had a very busy spring with military exercises and then major yard renovations this spring/summer. Just finished the yard work this week. I am being deployed again in two weeks for a month and a half, THEN I promise, I will get back in the garage and have some progress for you fine Z folks! This is a lull, not a stoppage, guaranteed!

I was even considering an aluminum heat shroud offset from the tunnel to prevent heat buildup.

1973 Rebuild
FWIW, mine was factory primer then dealer applied undercoat. My plan is POR the whole underside, then tie-coat primer and then body colour finish coat. No undercoat. The inside I will do a POR coat then a coat of the lizard skin style sound proofer. I may also do some style of heat shield in the tunnel area next to the exhaust.

Thinking about installing an BMW M6 engine in my Z
From the new rails I will be able to weld in good metal. I will have to beat a section of metal to the right shape first however... a source for the plate would be nice.

I prefer the flat hood to the Louvered hood of the 78's etc. The vented inspection doors are a nice mod that isn't that common but not out of character..

Maybe I'm being a little too OCD but I would like the bottom of the car to be smooth and pretty. That's where any bad welds would be seen versus under the jute and carpet. The welds on the inside will be more structural for sure. Not necessarily lumpy and bad, but not ground flush and smooth. I still need to make sure the floor supports will fit too. and yeah, I have a box of dust masks...
