Amps are drawn, not pushed. The device uses the amount of energy it is designed for. The gauge of wire is designed for the amount of current being drawn by that circuit. All those amps just sit idle until drawn by a device. Think of it as having a reservoir of power available for more devices than was originally designed for the car.

The GM SI alternators can be wired as one wire or three. The plug is there on all of them. Your choice.

. A 1,000,000 amp alternator is fine in our cars. The car only draws what the device needs. Having more available amps allows you to run a stereo, fog lamps, radar detector, cell phone charger etc etc.

Not for a 280... and not for others that I am aware.

Silvermine Motors Electric Power Steering System
I haven’t been back out to the shop yet, but Granny’s idea kept me awake all night. That should work actually. I reinstalled the rack without a reference mark after doing all the powder coating. It’s quite possible I have it rotated too high even for factory steering shaft angles. I hope that’s it!

I like the GM 10si or 12si alternator upgrade. Cheap and easy to find with 100-120 amps. Internally regulated and lots of power. Minor mounting mod.

Well a new issue has arisen that should be detailed here. The offset firewall plate has another aspect I had not considered. Apparently the steering shaft now contacts the stock motor mounts. The V8 kits obviously use another style of mount and this is not an issue there. I have contacted Edan to let him know. I have a feeling we will need two different firewall plates. One for each motor type in use. Pics below show the contact.

No problem! I temporarily pinned up my defrost ducts and looked at the angles and it looks like they are almost parallel to the evap unit... could be tight bends for sure. I am also waiting for the dash for the 280's to be made available. My interior is still a long ways off. I am more concerned about getting lines and hardware in place for the finishing work later.

I'm not going to rush and blame the manufacturer here. I am thinking it had to do with the Martian temperatures we have been enduring for the last month. -40 ~ -30 is not going to be helpful when the package gets dropped... If the package was cold and dropped, the packing wouldn't have helped gravity's effect on the blower fan that is suspended by the plastic housing. It would have torn free like the picture shows. That's my thought anyway.

Actually, although these are helpful, I was referring to the vent hoses that go to the defrost ducts.

Any pics of the vent hose routing? Looks tight....
