  1. Ferrous Bueller?
  2. If you surround the welded area with strong magnets, the oxygen atoms are pushed away hence no need for gas..... ?

Or you can use floor molding vinyl cut to the right width and length for less than $5...
  4. Amps are drawn, not pushed. The device uses the amount of energy it is designed for. The gauge of wire is designed for the amount of current being drawn by that circuit. All those amps just sit idle until drawn by a device. Think of it as having a reservoir of power available for more devices than was originally designed for the car.
  5. The GM SI alternators can be wired as one wire or three. The plug is there on all of them. Your choice.
  6. . A 1,000,000 amp alternator is fine in our cars. The car only draws what the device needs. Having more available amps allows you to run a stereo, fog lamps, radar detector, cell phone charger etc etc.
  7. Not for a 280... and not for others that I am aware.
  8. The steering rack has plenty of rotation when it is all loosened from the bushings and the stop bracket. Mine is definitely rotated too far up as you can see by the different alignment angles at the knuckle on the 240 and mine.
  9. I haven’t been back out to the shop yet, but Granny’s idea kept me awake all night. That should work actually. I reinstalled the rack without a reference mark after doing all the powder coating. It’s quite possible I have it rotated too high even for factory steering shaft angles. I hope that’s it!
  10. I like the GM 10si or 12si alternator upgrade. Cheap and easy to find with 100-120 amps. Internally regulated and lots of power. Minor mounting mod.
  11. I might just put a bungee cord on the steering shaft and pull it towards the block a bit... that should work! The shaft needs to move about 1/2” to work. I can try a twist downwards though.. good idea.
  12. I’m thinking I should just drop a V8 in the car now...
  13. Well a new issue has arisen that should be detailed here. The offset firewall plate has another aspect I had not considered. Apparently the steering shaft now contacts the stock motor mounts. The V8 kits obviously use another style of mount and this is not an issue there. I have contacted Edan to let him know. I have a feeling we will need two different firewall plates. One for each motor type in use. Pics below show the contact.

No problem! I temporarily pinned up my defrost ducts and looked at the angles and it looks like they are almost parallel to the evap unit... could be tight bends for sure. I am also waiting for the dash for the 280's to be made available. My interior is still a long ways off. I am more concerned about getting lines and hardware in place for the finishing work later.

All the pieces were inside the evaporator housing. No where for them to go other than the fan box or there really...

I'm not going to rush and blame the manufacturer here. I am thinking it had to do with the Martian temperatures we have been enduring for the last month. -40 ~ -30 is not going to be helpful when the package gets dropped... If the package was cold and dropped, the packing wouldn't have helped gravity's effect on the blower fan that is suspended by the plastic housing. It would have torn free like the picture shows. That's my thought anyway.

Actually, although these are helpful, I was referring to the vent hoses that go to the defrost ducts.

Any pics of the vent hose routing? Looks tight....

The Captain noticed the not so Obvious issue... the broken fan box! Hopefully this gets resolved easily.
  20. Whoa... you were a Datsun junkie wayyyy before I showed up! I just fanned the flame under your resto fire.

And Blue is right, a lot of the companies we know and love were suppliers to the German war machine. Much as GM et al were here in North America. My dad was employed with Cominco mine in Kimberley BC, who supplied most of the lead used by the allies in both world wars.

Yes and no. The ammo was turned in by one of my techs. They find it in the bottom of the turrets all the time. It has been around a while.... But no, the issue is with the AC system. Keep looking.
  23. That is your ac condenser

Anyone see the issue here? Look closely...
