Where to go with this rusthole
Be careful... once you’ve entered the den of Datsun and worshipped at the altar of unobtainium, you become somewhat addicted to the source. One trip is never enough! [emoji1]

I could bond to that...

Z31 N/A RB project
Because it bonds to anything and flows under low heat with high tensile strength.

Badging a 240Z into a FairladyZ
I’m guilty of this transgression on my 370... I did this about 5 years ago when I added the Japanese amuse body kit.

Badging a 240Z into a FairladyZ
Unless the project car has some other important provenance, I say go for it! Make it whatever you want and enjoy yourself! Have fun and document the process for all us armchair commentators!

Dashcam Recommendations?
Check this one out https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.ca%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F192621542877 It’s small enough to be out of the way, but has all the features you need. Action cams are great, but these are purpose built for dash cam use. The snapshot button lets you grab a still image while it’s recording video. Your phone is just the way you view the files from the camera versus a crappy little display on the camera of some other brands.

Dashcam Recommendations?
DDPai 2 is a good one for around $100. 1440p and remote snapshot button. Wi-Fi to your phone and instant transfers. eBay have them.

1971 HLS30-14938 "Lily" build
I took mine down to bare metal and there were no creases. But this may have been a production change in the 280 as well.

Home Built Z 'Full video build'
Jeff, you might want to consider putting some sound deadening inside the “smugglers boxes” so they don’t become resonant “speakers”. They are at the perfect angle under the car to project noise forward into the cabin area.

SS Bumpers from Vietnam
I believe that he may have used steel wool 0000 to polish the scratches out, then a buffer to polish the SS back to a shine.

Steering Effort Differences Between Years
All good information and reasons I am using the AZC Shortened steering knuckles along with the Silvermine Power Steering kit on my rebuilt 76 280Z rack.

Hazard Switch not working - Blinkers OK
That’s right, I remember now. I didn’t adjust the factory mix that I sprayed, and the pic I posted was the brightest it looked in any light. It could be the water based versus solvent based too. If my spray had of matched yours, I would have gone with the original too! Love your car...

Home Built Z 'Full video build'
I can’t remember what you said you were using for the panel backings Jeff... was it 1/8” MDF or something else?

Finally Got My Garage Mahal!!!
Also, consider improving the lighting with some LED shop lamps spaced nicely around the barn, along with some wall mounted units to see better. Especially if you are creating a body and paint area. Run a length of 3/4" pipe off your compressor around the barn with multiple 'drops' for air lines. Don't forget a good dehydrator as well if you don't get the pro industrial unit. Get a good quality sound system! it will make the time out there much more pleasant! You may also want to consider some wireless surveillance cameras both inside and out of the shop. I wish I had done a goPro or something like that as well, kind of like @Home Built by Jeff does to record my progress.

Finally Got My Garage Mahal!!!
Nice! I have an industrial fan feeding air at about 15 cfm through a filter into my garage from the eaves to the centre of the garage. Then I have another fan pulling air out the back of the shop with an attached "pan" that I can slide under the car while painting. Effectively creating a downdraft paint booth. I like forced air because I can keep the shop at 10 degrees C until I need to bump it up and then it heats up in about 2 minutes to 22 degrees C. Costs next to nothing to heat this way. Also, find the biggest industrial air compressor you can afford. Go to an auction or whatever, and find a screw type compressor with a dehydrator, or at least a two stage 80 gallon unit. You will thank me later....

Finally Got My Garage Mahal!!!
Things to consider - a sliding "dust" curtain for bodywork and paintwork - ventilation intake and exhaust for said body and paintwork - the mandatory four post lift - industrial shelving for parts and equipment storage - 220 power feed and running water if possible - forced air furnace if needed (here in Canada it is a must!). - wet bar and 60" tv.... :P
