Well dang it, I was thinking of not doing the cable linkage, but now you have me second guessing... If I run a mount plate off that tang on the throttle body I can adapt the Borla (it's the exact one in the picture) to accept the cable linkage. Just need to find an appropriate throttle cable to use as a replacement.
  2. Maybe in Fire Engine red?
  3. wheee! posted a post in a topic in Build Threads
Nope. The engine will be controlled with Haltech 750 most likely. I will have an IAC plumbed in to it.

I’m assuming I can trim that tab with the two holes off of the throttle body. Clean it up a bit!

    Butt welds. End of story.

In other news, I have a Borla Big Throat throttle body on its way to my shop of horrors...

You could wait till the temperature drops another 30 degrees or so....

Half done indeed.... More than half the work was getting the undercoating off. The hood was almost completely black with tar when I started...! I will get it down to bare metal soon enough!
  10. My friend saw the prototype in person at Monterey this summer. It’s close but not quite done yet. They need a little more time. Here’s some pics from the display. I will order one soon too.
  11. I hope that some of the other great classics come back like this too. I would love an old early 60’s corvette redone in modern hardware. I don’t think I could ever afford an original.

@240260280 would approve of the colour... or he formerly would have!
  13. Well here is something that stopped me dead... This thread on HybridZ is about a widebody kit that is being developed for a race car, but I just couldn't believe this wouldn't be a best seller as the next generation retro Z car! Nissan should look at something like this, maybe a little less rear wing and canards, but the overall styling would be a hit IMHO. Widebody Kit

Minor victory... all the undercoating is off the hood!

Someone’s going to get an awesome car!

It’s hammer and dolly time...! Actually an English wheel would be better to roll the curve some more, but a hammer and dolly or anvil will work.

Considering the complex curve and shape, this inner fender piece is better "bought" than "built" IMHO
  18. wheee! posted a post in a topic in Body & Paint
You can replace that inner fender too, if you want...

Oh yeah.... I still have a little PTSD from doing the underside of the car a few years ago! This is a lot harder in places due to the curved surface of the hood and all the folds and edges. I have scraped off most of the thick stuff already, but the going is slow with the paint thinner. I small flat tip screwdriver ended up being the best tool. I am really not wanting to heat the hood and the thin metal any more than I have to! Still the paint and corrosion to remove.

So the work is going slow. I am disappointed in the green paint stripper from Eastwood. It is plastic bristle embedded with steel wire for the abrasive. It has worn down to about 1/4” height and does very little but throw sparks now. It has cleared the underside of the hood poorly due to the concavity of the metal. I have ordered more of the EZ Strip plastic wheels that I used for the body of the car. Hopefully that will work better. I also have been removing all the heavy coat of undercoating from the underside of the hood. What a mess. This stuff is like glue and requires scraping and cleaning with paint thinner to remove. So many angles and hiding spots under there. No pics yet because I’m wearing gloves and a respirator for most of the work. Hope to have it all off by the weekend so I can start working on removing the old paint. Still the remainder of the hatch, doors and fender to do! Looking forward to never seeing that puke green colour again!
  21. I have a saying... “things could always be worse”... That helps keep things in perspective for me!
  22. You need to become more comfortable with rust on a Z.... unless those pockets are REALLY deep!
  23. I sandblasted in my shop. It’s off the rotisserie now.
