1976 280Z Restoration Project
So after a year and a half waiting for Dave at AZC to finish making the rear brake bracket with integrated park brake, I have moved on. Dave has been promising me it would be ready “in two more weeks” for 18 months. I have installed the rear bearings and seals and have decided to move ahead with a solution from Silvermine Motors. Edan and I have been in discussion as to how to solve the park brake issue for all the AZC customers out there. I am going to create a separate thread and detail the process of adapting the Silvermine kit to the AZC kit. I will be keeping all the rotors and calipers from AZC, but will be using the park brakes, adapter plate and custom emergency brake cable from Silvermine. In the meantime I put the hubs together as, unlike AZC, the hubs don’t need to be split in order to install the Silvermine adapter plates.

In the end, the second pan was an extra day of prep and 40 minutes of powder coat and cure. I got to go visit Jim and hand pick one of the multiple pans he had sitting out for me to choose from and spend some time in the emporium. I get smarter every time I visit him... Time well spent.

The house was part of the deal in restoring the 280. The wife said I needed a shop on the property if I wanted a hobby that was going to take all my time. So we sold the old house and bought this one. I think we both got what we wanted out of the deal. I was sold when I saw the garages and she was sold on the house and property. Now she tells me I have to include the cost of the house in the restoration expenses... anyone interested in a million dollar Z?- Home Built Z 'Full video build'
Jeff, you can get fabric dye pens from hobby stores that will allow you to dye your seat stitches blue to match. I did that on my 370Z and it worked fabulous almost 10 years ago. Still looks great today.- 1966 Roadster 1600, here we go!
