More goodies arrived today! Gen II Mini Vintage Air! I ordered it with the traditional controls to see if I could make them work. I may end up with the modern dial type as they are slimmer. Will have to see if this can be made to work.
  2. Where would that be if there is no door plate?

So this is definitely going onto my car somewhere! Leopard 2 Main Battle Tank breather fitting! All Z cars should have tank parts... GPMG C6 Machine gun 7.62mm round for scale.... [emoji51]
  4. With a VIN like that, it is probably a 71 model , built in late 70
  5. Production models made after Sept (9), are generally classed as the next model year. Example: production date (on the door jamb) 9/75 is a 1976 model.
  6. How about one of your NSX hangin' in the air like garage art?
  7. Pfffft... how are you gunna run your coolant lines with clamps in those holes! amateur....!

Here’s the piece I’m talking about.

It’s amazing the stuff that eats your time. Tonight I spent three hours in the shop working on a couple little things. One of which is the oil pan reinforcing ring with the exhaust standoff. It had been crunched a bit and needed some love. So after media blasting, bending, anvil hammering and more media blasting, welding, more media blasting... it looks acceptable! No pics but I thought it was funny how much time that took...

I have since plugged it with threaded aluminum rod.

There was however a mystery hole in the side of the head that was tapped and led to a coolant passage. That leaked a little and surprised me as it was definitely someone’s mod. Jim wasn’t tracking it either as it lays beneath the intake manifold gasket. You can see it beneath the 4&5 intake ports.
  12. Thanks. I am a little ways away from needing these just yet.
  13. Its the slow Canada Post delivery system. Parts take so long to reach us (shipping from China for example averages two months to arrive after hitting Canadian soil within 7 days...) that he gets negative reviews from impatient people and that costs him money. USPS delivers 100's of times faster than Canada Post. It is too bad because he has a lot of nice parts I wouldn't mind trying.
  14. yay.... I've asked this vendor to ship items before. He just chooses not to to do business with Canadians.

Those are transport plugs. The engine came to me in the back of a pickup truck and needed to have a couple plugs to prevent leaks from the residual coolant. I left them in to keep contaminants out for now. I took the hose plug off for the pictures. The stock lines will run as normal under the COP setup.

Marginally better than the original power plant...

Back to the topic.... I got the block cleaned up and painted tonight. The oil pan needs to be done still and a few other things, but I thought it was as a good a time as any to slap it together for some motivation! As soon as the coil on plug units arrive, I can start mocking up the aluminum support for the spark plugs and coils. I think the cast iron paint will be a nice subtle touch in the engine bay along with the shiny black, chrome and red bits.

Oil in my engine, propane in my BBQ! Natural Gas in both house and shop... Out west we don't have houses running oil anymore. That's an Irving monopoly! actually my BBQ is LNG too...

The 1988 300ZX turbo diff was an R200 3.70 CLSD unit. Hard to find but great for up to 400 hp before you needed to rebuild the half-clutch pack to a full clutch pack. Add the RT style diff mount and she is good to go. The factory half shafts will support the same amount of power no problem. But yes, CV’s are in the future!
  20. Ooooooooo! It's coming to my location?! @ConVerTT is located 3 hours south of me. Where the sunshine is....

So with temperatures around minus 30 Celsius for the last two weeks, my shop furnace decides to stop working this last weekend. Hot surface igniter died. Luckily, I was able to get a new one locally Monday night and get heat back into the shop. Unfortunately, I probably froze a lot of paint and chemicals that will need to be replaced. In the meantime I was inspired to strip some of the old blue paint off the Stroker... and found... more paint!
  22. Did you use any kind of backing to your 2000 grit or just your hand?

Pretty much what Patcon said... I am bulletproof proofing my driveline for 300hp and that puts me at the limit for stock components. Even then, I added an LSD.

You might want to check out Whitehead Performance. The LSD’s aren’t cheap but you will need it for that engine.

And probably an LSD as well...
