  1. You need the automatic bell housing for this conversion.
  2. Love that Bronco....
  3. Congrats! This will be interesting!
  4. And if you see a car listed for sale on this forum, you will have dozens of solid references and opinions from the members to help you out. Safe bet...
  5. Did you mean RB25?
  6. And considering the state of a lot of peoples floors and frame rails..... that is like bolting the tranny up to rice paper!
  7. This is cool.... way more to this than meets the eye I'm sure, but cool! I like the six speed in my 370Z. I'm sure it would be pretty neat to have it in the 280 as well.

I have heard how the performance gains from other mods will equal that of an LD crank, but I think there is a small number of us that just want one....because... well, we want one!

Very pretty. A real pain to take apart to show people at car shows though....
  10. I think the lesson here is we all need to drive our cars more! Especially in the frozen wasteland of the north....! I use AMSoil 5W30 full synthetic in the 370, but now I may be doing the same in the 280Z (or should I say 310Z)!
  11. So I asked a couple of my mechanics at work to have a look at the rocker pics and they are convinced that the cause of this pitting is due to the engine not being run often enough! The oil gets up to the valve train, sits and slowly drips back down to the engine. The rockers eventually start pitting around the oil spots (not on the part of the pads that are under contact with the valves), and the next time it is started, the corroded metal falls off into the engine and probably into the oil filter. Basically they are saying the engine needs to be run and used more often to avoid this happening. Neither of them saw this is having any real effect on the engine as long as the oil gets changed regularly. This is good to know!
  12. It always helps to colour test a shaped panel if possible. It gives so much more life to the finished colour in both sun and shade exposures.
  13. So jealous.... it’s been a real crappy summer and non existent fall. Temps around 34F for the last four weeks it seems. Not good driving weather at all. Our car club cancelled the fall cruise due to snow.... Hope everyone has a great time! Wish I was there with you all!

    Go big....
  15. Jeff, I might have missed it, but are you clear coating everything or is that a single stage paint? Looks cleared in the final shots but I didn’t see you spray clear. Also, how did you paint the hinges? Closed or open position? Did you paint all the surface area (open or close the hinge)? Same for the bonnet hinges... Thanks for these videos, it will help immensely with my paint work later next spring!

Don’t look for the cheapest solution. Look for the best value in return for quality of work. Not an inexpensive repair to do and not one to “go cheap” on. I wouldn’t do this work for someone else. I did it myself and spent months getting it done right. What’s that worth? I wouldn’t have paid me to do it! I ain’t got that kind of money! New floors
  17. Get the v-comp too. You could use the v-comp as firewall with some spray adhesive. The v-comp is sold in sheets but I didn’t have enough to do firewall as well as the floor and tunnel. I should have bought more. Great products.
  18. Glad to be helpful! I never did find authentic firewall material and I only have the B-Quiet ultimate product on there at the moment. Still not sure how I’m going to finish that area....

Thanks. I’m not committed to any system yet. Good feedback on the haltech systems from local guys though.

So, as some have already guessed, I will be assuming the conservator-ship of the legendary 3.1L stroker formerly reigning supreme over the 73 240Z owned by none other than our legendary contributor ZKars. Jim has been a source of inspiration and assistance from the beginning for me, and it is an honour to have the chance to purchase some of his gently used and superbly built pieces. Having sold his 73 shell to a local buyer, he was left with a plethora of parts looking for a good home. It was only after calling Jim (again) looking for advice on my own engine build that I suddenly realized what I was looking for was sitting in his garage.... So, long story short, I will be re-using his stroker as the heart of my build. I may add a few personal touches, such as fuel injection and a spark and fuel management system too. Along with the motor, I am picking up a few more assorted goodies from his car that won't be going to the shell buyer. In the end, most of his Z parts (from the 73) will be gone and he will be able to continue building his 510 empire in the south of Alberta! Pics and details to come as the parts make their way north to my surprisingly comfortable igloo.
  22. That is a crazy looking intake! Almost looks like ITB!
