Looking for advice on sequencing of restoration work
If you don't mind doing some reading, there are several extremely well documented restorations on this forum that have all the information you are asking for in great detail. We are all very helpful people here, but having us regurgitate all of this info in every new rebuild thread is overkill. Look at Grannyknots rebuild thread, check out Hazmatt's awesome thread and maybe even mine. Lots of info that will answer all your questions. Or at least help refine your questions...

Is 16.5k too much?
Still a great car in very good condition. Barring any show stopping hidden flaws, jump on it.

Not worth 16.5k.... more like 20!

FYI - 240Z Dashboards
Thank you, that is helpful. Looking forward to your 280 version.

Do you have any pictures of the dash before it is assembled onto the frame? Basically as it ships to the customer.

Beginner LF Help with 280Z Build
Check out the beauty from @zKars too... Super nice 240 resto with top quality craftsmanship. Some really nice work on that one. Hazmatts car should have sold for closer to $35,000 IMHO. Finding a car like that these days is rare and he let his go for far too little.

At least not for what I told the wife it has cost us so far....

FYI - 240Z Dashboards
Great shot of the bare frame! I think I will strip mine to that and paint it pretty for posterity before adding the new dash. ...Look at me; already talking like I have one ordered!

Beginner LF Help with 280Z Build
Hazmatt's car sold for way less than he paid to restore it... Buyer's always win in those situations. Especially on a well documented build like his!

My two swiss S30Z Fairlady Restoration build thread
I agree, the panels are better than not having any at all and I was able to make them work regardless. Very grateful for people like Charlie Osbourne and Zeddfindings. The floor pans helped build my confidence in fabbing some of my own patch panels later on.

@theguppies Don't forget about us Canadian customers too! DHL Express Shipping is a great cross border carrier. UPS and FedEx are terrible for brokerage fees etc. I too am slowly convincing the wife that the new dash is a must for our half done restoration. I am on track to order the 280Z version before the end of this year!

AC Installation cost
Yikes... that is crazy expensive!

jdm 240z fender mirrors
Those mirrors are like a piece of artwork... some people would pay a lot, others not so much. It’s up to the person buying them as to what they are willing to pay. For me, they are far too expensive for what they are. A part of the car that sees that much abuse, in a position that can easily be damaged, is no place for artwork. And on a scale of one to ten for functionality, they barely make a two....

Stainless steel headers, exhausts and JDM twin-pipe mufflers.
Sean, what is the header on the far right? Street sport equal length 3-2's?

Steering Rack Disassembly and Refurb
If I know Jim, he's bending over at the moment...

Rear spindle removal
This was my attempt... the tool was simply not enough to break the force of the pin stuck in the spindle. No tool would have been in the end....
-
Rear spindle removal
My pins required massive amounts of heat and 60 tons of pressure to move... broke two puller devices I built.

Steering Rack Disassembly and Refurb
You are probably right Jim. I was wondering if it was just the interior metal that was causing the shavings though... That "pin" in the photos looked suspiciously like a deformity caused by the punch. Edit: So my master vehicle tech at work is convinced the pin is inserted first for mechanical grip, then the plastic is thermo injected to further lock the collar and waterproof the the pin and groove. As usual, I am wrong,

Steering Rack Disassembly and Refurb
I am beginning to doubt there is a pin at all. I am thinking that @Zkars drilled out the plastic and into the inner rack a small amount and then deformed the inner metal with the punch. I might be wrong (usually am) but a pin plus plastic locking collar seems redundant. The shape of the housing bushing is such that it will clamp any rotational forces down, and the plastic collar will subvert any lateral movement.... my two cents.

Steering Rack Disassembly and Refurb
SO any issues after a powder coated rack has been put back into use? No slippage etc?
