  1. If you think that 73 auto shifter will fit on a series 1 car, I can use it.
  2. I have a 72 white on red manual I will be getting ready for sale as soon as I free up some garage space.
  3. Is that hatch restorable? It looks pretty rotten!
  4. Personally, I would leave it as is. I have both AT and 4 speed Series 1 Z's, and the AT is a blast to drive. If you do convert it, I would at least save the removed pieces if you have the room.

    I do not, sorry!
  6. I agree. Having parted out a car before, it can be a painful experience. If I were to calculate time I would have been on the losing end! Still, I have a Series 1 car I will probably be parting in the spring.
  7. rcb280Z, No worries! I am just happy that someone offered help.
  8. Thanks to all for your responses. Thankfully, I am not trying to buy a hood as I have a few stashed away. I was trying to figure out a fair price for a local buyer. However, I think the deal is a no go because the buyer wanted a perfect hood for far less than even what conedodger paid 10 years ago.
  9. I have a local guy who is looking for a 240Z hood. I have several that are used and will need paint, but not rusted or bent. What is a fair price? I have no idea what the hoods are going for these days. Thanks!
  10. If you do not find one by the weekend, PM me and I will see if I have one in my 71 parts pile.

I have used a U-Haul trailer to haul 240Zs several times across NC. The trailers are great. Put the Z on nose first (I usually have to use a come along for parts cars). Once on, use the provided straps for the front tires. Then, make sure you have a good set of heavy duty straps, not the cheap 4 pack from Harbor Freight! Make sure to use the straps in a way that the car does not roll backward...or forward. Cinch the car down and them drive for a mile. Stop and retighten. Then, every time you stop make sure the straps are tight.

Likely from a 73, but possibly from a 74 260Z. Good condition with stickers still on the box. Original paint looks good, just need the grime cleaned off. I will leave that to the buyer so they can best preserve the paint. $45 plus shipping.
  13. Define Early. Snorkel or no?

As the title says, a fusebox cover for a 73 240Z. $35 shipped in the US.

Fusebox out of a 73 240Z. You would be buying this for the cover/fuse tool. The box itself has a burn hole but will be included in case you need the parts. $35 shipped in US.

Thanks for that. They had rebuild kits for the F4W70.

I have two Series 1 cars. One is a 11/70 manual and the other a 12/70 automatic. At some point both transmissions will be rebuilt and I would like to get the rebuild kits now. Can some of your transmission gurus confirm what model transmission should be in each so that I order the correct kits? Many thanks!

    $35
  20. Thanks to all for the comments. It looks like this one might be worth more in parts than as a project?

Thanks to all. Very helpful. Jim, I just ordered the outer seals from MSA. Great idea to do them both at once.
  22. I just looked at a 72 and am trying to come up with a fair price and to see if it is worth the trouble. I think the car is too good to part out. However.... First: the bad: it has been crunched in the front. The hood, front valence, and right fender are toast and the windshield is cracked. The front radiator support is slightly bent, but looks like it could be straightened out. The car was originally white, but is now grey, so it will require a respray. The original red interior will need new seat covers, and although serviceable now, at least the passenger floorboard will need to be replaced at some point. There is minor bubbling around the rear wheel arches. It does not have a front bumper and the rear one is fake. The rear hatch lip is rough, but the owner poorly patched it with metal. The good: The owner has another fender and hood. For an east coast car, the body is pretty rust free, but I am sure there are hidden issues. The engine is original. It has not been run in a bit, but turns. I used a magnet over the car and did not detect bondo. The car has a valid title as well. What do you all think a fair price would be for the car? Thanks!

Thanks Jim. I got the inner seal;s from Black Dragon. The outer seals were already sold out. Do I need to remove the inner plastic trim as well? I am also replacing the taillight seals. One of the Z's is particularly bad with fumes, so trying the easy steps first.

For those who have done this before I am replacing the rear hatch seals on two of my Series 1 cars as a first step to try to elimate some of the exhaust fumes coming in the cabain./ Do I need to remove the interior trim to replace the hatch seal? Is it easier with the hatch taken off? Many thanks for the help.
  25. Great looking car.
