They had that for sale prior to Ebay for $10,500. It was a local trade in. They contacted the prior owner, but he did not have the original motor. Loudoun
  2. I need another project like I need a.... In any case, on account of seeing a Z parked out front, I was offered another. I think it is a 73 model (all the tags are off, VIN is in the 130000 range). The owner started to restore it thirty years ago and stripped the body. All parts have been inside for the past 30 years as has the body. The body is farily clean for an East Coast car, but will need floor boards. There is also rust poking through over one of the rear wheel wells and in the back hatch when you lift the lid. He is asking under $2k for the package. I suspect this is a case of move on, but I wanted to ask the group what they thought. Thanks! Loudoun

Chas, My fault (slip of the finger). The build date on my 71 titled parts car is 9/70. It is number 9974.

I do have a 1971 parts car I picked up, build date of 9/71. It is HLS30-09974 with engine number 12921. The one I picked up (no data plate) is HLS30-10278 with engine 013705.

Hello all, This is my first post and thanks for letting me join the forum. I am a new Z owner and recently purchased a 1971 titled 9/70 car. It is missing the engine bay data plate that lists the motor number that was original to the car. Is there a resource where I can run the VIN and come up with the original engine number? I would like to check if the motor has been swapped or not. It has an L24 with the E31 head in it right now. The car is HLS30-10278. Thanks!
