  4. One of my mates has been seriously thinking of building a RB22/23/24 combination. I think in the end he decided the result wouldn't be worth the money that would be spent. An RB30DET using the 26 head.....that'll be a monster!

I've had my zed to 170kmh once....gotta say that was rather scary! But fun none the less. After I did it I decided I wont be doing it again in any hurry and haven't since. I've seen about 240kmh in my mates R32 skyline before....but 170 in the zed was still the more scary!

I'd think the first place quoted you 10k as they don't want the job. The biggest problem I've found here where I live is no one wants to do real fabrication work anymore. All the panel shops are interested in is crash repair, where all they do is put new panels on....not much real "panel beating" to it anymore. Apparently there was one old guy around here that was a master with old metal....but he shut down his shop a few years ago. Now there's no one.

The centre console in my 260 2 seater also has the hole for an ash tray. No idea if this is the original console though.

Looks like 240K&Beyond is the winner! Congrats! Edit: Beat me to it!

Using SUs in a blow through setup is generally a no no. AFAIK it's to do with some issues of sealing, also you'd need to pressurise the fuel bowls, which means a high pressure fuel pump and a rising rate regulator. Suck through would be a better option, although not all turbos are suitable for this. Mickie: Depending on what way you want to go, well have a spare RB25 turbo when we get the big turbo on Danny's R32. Should be soon.

  11. From superbrightleds.com: Maybe if you take to the end of a conventional LED with a drill, giving you and inverted cone....that might just work.
  12. Well get to work then!

Arrh! You blokes are too fast!
  14. That's a hard one. I'd be inclined to go for one that's had the hard work done....BUT....I'd want to see the proof. Eg, photos of the car in bare metal. It's a bit of an ask and might take some time to find one that fits the bill.....but it'd be worth it in the end.

    Here's one for you Lachlan.....looks nice! http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=45571&item=2496180504&rd=1
  16. Cool cool. I stand corrected. The other plug was no doubt chopped out by the previous owner. They've mutilated just about every other part of the loom. :-/
  17. Righto. Finally got around to checking out my plugs. Left hand side has a round plug* (this is 240Z style right?), and the right has no plug at all.....yet another thing on this car that has been molested by the PO. I'm quite interested still, but I'll have to hold off for a month or two as there's a major lack of fundage around here atm! *My 260Z is one of the very early ones that is a mish mash of 240 and 260 parts....so seems 240Z HL plugs are another item to add to the list! Arrrhhh!

On the topic of zeds for sale, there's a cheap 260Z 2 seater on ozdat atm.....about $2500 I think. Didn't sound like it was too bad from the desciption.

Interesting. I'm chasing an electronic ignition module for my zed too. I did some looking for prices on the pertronix igniter in oz, and I couldn't believe it when the prices I was coming up with were around the $400 mark. That's crazy considering they go for between AU$90-AU$130 in the US. Skimmo was also trying to sell be a crane HI6 ( I think) for ~$320. Way more than I want to spend. 260Zed: What's the $150 module you were looking at?

I remember under the center console there most certainly is the plug for the hazard switch. So just having a look at the wiring diagram, it seems all that would be needed to get it working is to plug in a hazard switch, and an additional flasher unit (see the pics attached). Basically, GY puts power to the flasher unit from the fuse box, GW takes this to the flasher switch, which when turned on, puts power to the left and right blinker circuits. Easy done. Still haven't found the GY and GW wires up there yet.

  24. I'd definitely be putting a mechanical LSD on the wish list. Or maybe just get yourself a second open diff and weld it. Swap the locker in for the drift days. It'll make a HUGE HUGE difference to the predictability of the car when it's sideways. Mind you though....it certainly can be done with an open diff. One of my mates that loves his drift used to drive a VL commodore. Plenty enough power to turn the treads, but they handle like utter $^!#....and an open diff. He still succeeded at drifting this thing.....but damn was it a hairy experience! The amount of steering correction needed to keep it where he wanted it was just crazy. He now has a twin turbo manual soarer...with an aftermarket LSD.....this thing's just a natural. Soooooo predictable when sideways it's not funny! Let me tell you he puts on quite a show in the thing! So yeah....if you can get the hang of it with an open diff.....you'll be a good bit ahead when you go get a LSD or locker in there.
