Is the guy still after $250 for them? I'm definantly interested, so if you could get a definite price that'd be awesome. I'll go chase up some money at my end.

Thanks for the advice there. In a few minutes I'm heading out to have a chat to the local z blokes.....see if they know of any for sale around here.

Just had a look at their page and we're talking more like $150US..... Far too much for me... I want to put as little money as possible into this motor as it'll be coming out early next year.......if all goes to plan.

Sammy: Is that price from Z therapy for the overhaul kit US dolars or aussie dollars? datfreak: If you could chase up some info on those carbs (eg what conition they are in) it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

You talking the L28 injection setup?

The round tops SU's were stolen off my zed recently, so I'm currently looking for another pair. I'm wondering however, what other carb options there are? My main criteria is they have to be fairly cheap (not much more than another pair of round tops), deliver similar performance and not be a pain in the arse to fit. Any idea? Thanks...

Thanks for the reply Sammy. What sort of money are we talking to have the 240 carbs overhauled? Where abouts would I source the brit SU's from?

I have the original turbo off my mates R32 skyline for sale. Turbo is in excelent condition, never boosted, came off the motor at about 90000km. The turbo is in Townsville, NQ, so factor in postage costs if you live a long way from here. PM me or email me at datto-zed@performanceforums.com is you're interested.

Well my other car finally died the other day too.......which I promptly informed the panel shop of....... so they said they'd finish the zed asap. I'll try OZdat.

Since mine were just nicked while my car was at a panel shop (one of 9 cars that were hit) and the shops insurance has rejected the claim, I'm looking for another pair. Anyone have any or know of any for sale. What sort of money do they usually sell for? Thanks, Justin
  13. That'd explain it. This one is March 74.
  14. Everything is there and in good nick (as far as I can remember), other than a crack in the center console next to the choke lever. Pretty much all the trim is grey though, not black. Dash is excelent, not a mark on it. All gauges work other than the ammeter. The glass over the three center gauges is a bit scratched. Steering wheel and speakers gone now (stolen while at the panel shop *&^$^#%^&%$!!!!!!!! ) Pillar trims are there. The plastic bit over the steering column was only off in these pics, it's not perfect but ok (and the wrong colour.....sorta a brown grey) Hmm that's about all I can think of.
  15. Check your ICQ.
  16. For those that haven't heard the story about my car, here's the ultra quick version: The chassis rails and floor pan and nice and rusty and one chassis rail has snapped. Basically the panel shop that's supposed to be fixing it is taking forever to do it, so I am thinking of pulling the car and selling it off for parts. All they've done so far is strip the interior and do one side of the floor pan. If someone is handy at fabrication work it'd be a good car to fix up. The main things it's worth buying for are an excelent interior, straight body and decent mechanical condition. Mechanically it's still pretty stock other than the "round top" SU's from a 240Z and the exhaust system. If anyone wants to make an offer or wants some more details, PM me, or email me at somewhatodd@mac.com Pics HERE.
  17. Ultimately, I'm still a very big fan of straight 6's, and especially the RB's. Realistically though, I'm more likely to do an RB20 swap as it's still cheaper, I know exactly what's involved and I'd be quite happy with it's performance. Still....the VQ idea is really starting to grow on me.
  18. Other thing I really like is having less weight than an L6, RB, or VG, and the weight being so much further back. I'd imagine engine would be almost completely behind the front axles. Apparently, being an alloy block (not as stiff) they aren't capable of as much power as the VG........but seriously, I'm never gonna be pushing the motor to that level. The japs seem to comfortanly and reliably pull 550+HP for the VQ's.
  19. lordbiotree: Pretty sure the US never saw them, nor did we over here in Australia. It's only now that they are starting to come into the country, and as such they are still quite cheap. I can see that changing over the next few years though. Gav240z: Yeah they're single turbo. What you've probably seen was a VG30DET, the single turbo version of the VG from the Z31 300ZX. The VQ's are far smaller and alot lighter than the VG. Make the same power and more torque than a VG30DETT in standard form too. I've had a look over on hybrid Z as well.....nothing there at all on the VQ.
  20. I've been considering a few different engines for a swap into my zed, and one interesting option is the VQ30DET. And yes....that's VQ, not VG. It's from the Nissan Cedric's and Cima's AFAIK. Being and all alloy V6 I'd imagine it would have the weight advantage over the RB's and VG's, and would give a better weight distribution than a straight 6. So has anyone heard of this swap being done into an early zed, or any other comments on the idea? Edit: They are quite well priced too..... AUS$2700 for a front cut.

Nothing fancy really. I bought the floor pan sections from All Z Parts, and the panel shop is fabricating the rest of it themselves (chassis rails, inner wheel arches, rad support). I'll be going in later in the week to see how they're going. This is how it looked as of last friday morning.

In the grand scheme of things.....good, as I have the money and the car is having the chassis work done now. In a more here and now sort of way, everything is still f*ucking up! The car got broken into at the panel shop, nicked my speakers and steering wheel. Add there have been delay after delay at the panel shop too. But what else would you expect from a panel shop? Then my$2.5k mountain bike got nicked last weekend.....
