Thanks for sharing your thoughts and ideas, when my mechanic put the shocks on he said he didn't need a compressor cause the coils where that short. That's how they were designed. I had ordered the eibach coils motorsport wouldn't take them back so I had to eat them . If anyone is interested I still have them. Back to my coils. They came that way they weren't cut. I'll check the Nut. they worked fine for years. Thanks again guys

I have a 71 240, lowered I used the tokico illumina 5 way adjustable shocks and coils. Lately I've be hearing a clunking/popping noise. It sounds like bad u-joints. My mechanic says it's the rear shocks. This guy is a z whisper but he's hasn't had a chance to look at them. Has anyone had this problem. I'm thinking coilovers. I like the setup that I have. It's my daily driver and I keep putting my 300tt on the back burner dealing with 240 issues. It's in the shop getting painted and restored to like new condition. Hope to share some pics.

I had a 240 years ago and it had a spoiler on the rear deck. I was rear ended and I took the spoiler off. That's when I noticed the fumes so a spoiler might be a option. Also I had another 240 that I bought and tailpipe was bent at a 90° Angle no fumes. I later put headers and turbo muffler on the rear the fumes returned. I've own five 240's since '81 I still have two '70& '71 and a '90 300tt. I've seen some things. Not a mechanic just deductive reasoning.
  4. Hey, fellas I just joined 10 minutes ago, and this is just the topic I've been looking for. I bought my rims from Motorsportauto, 16x8 primax a while back, still in the box because of this topic right here. The rims are already offset for the Z car. my dilemma is having a tire shop scuffing them up trying to find the right tire. I'm not into trial and error even though it is sometimes necessay. my car is lowered '71 240. 5 way adjustable tokico Illumina coils and shocks, urethane bushings, upgraded sway bars you know the drill. My mechanic thinks 225/40 if that is the case it would be all the way around the more road contact the better. See Gtr vs corvette on YouTube. Gtr ran same size tires all the way around. any feedback would be great from what I've read, there still seems to be some uncertainty and rubbing issues.
