  1. I would have if they had not been disconnected when I bought the car. :/ It will be part of the rewrapping project.
  2. I'll just leave this right here: http://www.rotiform.com/rbq-w-29630.htm
  3. Crazy. In other news, I got the brain stem and spinal cord out tonight.
  4. Question: are the rear lower control arms supposed to be identical, or did someone just flip one over and use it on the wrong side of my car? A quick google image search shows me that they are the same part and it's just upside down on one side, but I want to make absolutely certain. Did I answer my own question?
  5. I just want to figure out the max size for a stock suspension lowered 1.5-2" and probably with an air dam. No flares, no aftermarket coil over setups. I might do something to give it camber but otherwise I don't think it'll be modified. 25" is the stock tire diameter, right?
  6. Also, I saw this steel Nissan wheel on ebay from a 1979 Nissan 200SX, which could be pretty fresh if made into a 15x8.5.
  7. I know this is an old thread, but I started it, so This is what I'm talking about, but not so wide: Not Nissan/Datsun, but the same idea:
  8. Sure, but right now my intention is to run the stock manifold with SUs, not triples (although I am investigating going that route), so not relevant to what I'm doing. However, that DOES remind me that I should ask if this setup works with the stock intake. I've seen that several don't (fujitsubo, possibly Trust). I assume they work on LHD given the people commenting, but haven't seen anything about the intake question, and I'm not sure if those limitations are due to the heat shield not fitting and therefore not providing a mount for the return spring, or if it's the crossover pipe or the carbs themselves interfering.
  9. Good news: Thanks to the kindness and generosity of a fellow forum member I may have found the resolution to my tank saga. Also, I am moving forward with reconditioning that head this week. Should have a progress report on that in the next week or so. Lastly, my builder (father) and I have had several conversations with Dave at Rebello about what to do with this ZX engine. We've settled on the details and the only outstanding question is how much wear there is on the crank, and whether that will move is into stroker territory. Bad news: I noticed that my brake system is leaking in a few places in the engine bay. No big deal until I noticed that the leak coming from the connection point between the master cylinder and the vacuum booster has gone down between the firewall panels and through the seam to the inside of the left wheel well. This, plus not being able to get into a couple of places to adequately strip the metal before welding in these panels means that I have decided to take the car into a body shop sooner rather than later. Thinking September/October now rather than February. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Please PM me if you have a 70 to 73 gas tank.
  11. Few inches longer, dome on top, and pretty much all the tubes in different spots. I'm sure it can be done as I've seen threads about it, but they all make it sound like a project I don't feel like doing. Found a few possibilities when digging around on the web tonight, so we'll see. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. It's definitely the classiest of the extreme wide body kits I've seen, I think. I even like the cutaway rear fenders. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Too late now. I passed on it and went home. Not making another 9 hour trip. it had a very different layout so I didn't feel like trying to make it work.
  14. So this was my stupid day: Woke up at five, on the road to Rome, NY (4 hours away), at 5:15. Great drive the whole way. Pulled over for going 78 in a 55 (was going 68 by the way) 10 minutes from my destination. Get there and the tank is out of a 1975 280z, not a 240. Totally my own fault for being overzealous and not checking the photos more carefully. Now I'm on my way home having spent $50 on gas and whatever this ticket ends up being, plus all the damned cleaning solvents I've used on the tank that came with my car, and no closer to a good tank. Should have just sent the one I have to be reconditioned professionally. Some day I will learn when to do it myself and when to spend the money. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. You're right. Even worse. It's so good though!
  16. I've seen the zap stickers on a purple JDM G nose, although now I can't find it. I'm wondering if some of the JDM parts sourcers might help. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. So the Pandem aero wide body kit that Sun Kang used on his 240z is available in individual parts now (https://www.shopgreddy.com/17020400.html) and this has me wondering how much it would cost to have a body shop splice the ends from another front air dam onto this one. If I had more glassing experience I'm pretty sure I could do it, but it's a lot of money for an experiment ($400 for the Pandem spoiler and at least $100 for one to sacrifice for the ends). WHY CAN'T THEY MAKE A NARROW VERSION!?!?!
  18. I dug through the forums and didn't see this topic addressed anywhere, so I thought I would start a thread to see if anyone had anything to add to it. I will probably end up painting my Z the original Orange (#918), but I have been pondering the idea of painting her a Datsun color that didn't come on the Z originally. There was a Z at the Import Nationals a few weeks ago painted in what I think was the Sora Blue (#563) that came on the roadster and, while not my personal thing, got me thinking that there are tons of beautiful colors Datsun used that didn't make it onto the S30. So, to that end, I thought this would be an interesting topic to bang on while my build thread slows down a bit. I'll start with a few Datsun colors I think would make nice S30 colors, using Datsun paint chips (http://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au/paint_charts_datsun_nissan.php) as a starting point. Grey Green #546 Dragon Green #558 Turquoise #562 Bamboo #529 I think this is Datsun Grey #518 Cocoa Brown #214
  19. I just finished reading Taryn Croucher's write up on building her silver 1975 280Z in NZ. It's nice to read through all the details and see where her team ran into trouble and how they overcame the issues. Not a 100% real-world build as they are clearly sponsored and have a pile of experts helping, but still pretty great. Project Z: From The Beginning Project Z: L28s And Heartbreak Project Z: L-series Inspiration Project Z: The Quest For Perfection Project Z: New Revelations Project Z: Light At The End Of The Tunnel Project Z: Return of the G-Nose Old Soul, New Life: A Datsun Reborn Drive Your Dream
  20. Everyone who looks at that ad makes his other ads more likely to be suggested, so his other items will get more exposure, increasing the likelihood of each part selling. Pretty smart. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I was joking about impossible to find parts like diesel cranks. Pretty much got my engine plan locked down now, though. Just sorting details and building my money bonfire.
