Yeah, I think I’m going to have to open up the lug holes on the wheels somehow. This is the closest thing. Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

I can’t use the tapered lug nuts unless I machine my wheels. Stuck with mag lug nuts otherwise. Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Thanks! Edit: I went through them and didn’t see anything with a narrow enough shank, but it’s totally possible that I miss-measured the hole diameter. The wheels are higher up in this thread. Shelby Cal 500s, 14x6.

So I have a conundrum. I’m not sure which lug nuts to get. These wheels have a hole diameter of about 16mm and the depth is about 22mm. I think I read that the lug bolts are 50mm long, but I’ve already dropped my suspension off at the painter and forgot to measure how much thread length I have before the nut bottoms out. Does anyone have a recommendation? I’ve been looking at these but I’m worried they aren’t deep or narrow enough: https://www.lugnutguys.com/product/factory-mag-chrome-cwa-5005t-16 The lack of 12x1.25 mag lug selection is a bummer.

Thanks for the encouragement guys! So status report: They forgot to weld up the holes the previous owner put in the doors for those crappy plastic mirrors that were in it when I got it. That’s going to set things back a minute. Otherwise, I need to get tires on those rims and get the suspension out there so they can fit the doors correctly. They are suspicious that the gaps will be different if they do that work on the rotisserie. My dad has also made progress on the head after having it at the welder. Looks like we’re taking off another 0.002. :/ —- Open questions: Do I want blacked out or body color wheel wells? Do I want rubberized undercoat or just leave it at the lizard skin and paint? Do I want lizard skin on the inside of the roof? I think it might screw with adhering the “headliner.” Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Tonight I’ll clean them. Tomorrow I’ll spray them with clear. After they cure I’ll get tires, a few other random steps, and then everything goes to the shop to get the car off the rotisserie.

Hah! Well, there’s an Austin Healy in the family, but it think it’s unlikely that I’ll do a frame up restoration on it. I’ll just sell the rotisserie.

Oh, by the way. I’m going to have a rotisserie to sell pretty soon. Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

I don’t have a reference panel so we are going to do our best based on the code info and this image I found on this site but can’t find now: I very much like the spicy habanero pepper vibe this gives off.

Please Clarify: 70-72 Bumper Brackets on 73 cars
Excellent. I’m planning to get the WHP euro style SS bumpers so SS hardware would work. Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Please Clarify: 70-72 Bumper Brackets on 73 cars
All good info! I guess my next question is: Is there a “best” when it comes to these aftermarket front 70-72 brackets, or are they all pretty much the same? Is there anyone who tried or has experience with more than one option? Does it matter who you buy them from? Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Please Clarify: 70-72 Bumper Brackets on 73 cars
Right, in their note they say you need to modify the 70-72 brackets to fit a 73, but SteveJ said you don’t (unless I misunderstand his post). A comment from WHP would really help, so thanks for reaching out to him. Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Please Clarify: 70-72 Bumper Brackets on 73 cars
Okay, so that’s two people who have had success without modifying the brackets. That makes me wonder if it is just the Whitehead Performance brackets that need modifications. SteveJ, can you show where you needed the spacers? I didn’t quite follow that part of your write up. Were they out on the sides? Please Clarify: 70-72 Bumper Brackets on 73 cars
After I noticed a comment on the WHP site about their 70-72 front bumper brackets about needing to heavily modify them to fit a 73 (https://whiteheadperformance.com/product/new-datsun-240z-260z-280z-stainless-steel-euro-bumpers/), I did a bunch of searches of this and other sites and haven’t been able to confirm that this is or isn’t true. I did find someone on ZCar.com saying that you have to do a bunch of work to make them fit, but in that same thread someone mentioned that the original 70-72 mounting points are still there and that the 73 bumper brackets mount in a different location (https://www.zcar.com/forum/10-70-83-tech-discussion-forum/321961-73-bumper-brackets.html#/topics/321961). This would make sense if the bodies are all the same globally and they just fit one style in the US and the other everywhere else. Does anyone have experience with this either way? Photos clarifying these points would be much appreciated. If anyone found that it IS necessary to modify the 70-72 brackets to fit a 73 please describe the work involved.

Best "performance" tire for a 70 240z
In related news, Yokohama just brought back its 1981 Advan HF Type D tire: https://jalopnik.com/yokohama-brings-back-a-1980s-tire-so-you-can-make-your-1819844548 I would LOVE to get my hands on a set of these, but they seem to be JDM only.
