Pandem Front Spoiler
So the Pandem aero wide body kit that Sun Kang used on his 240z is available in individual parts now (https://www.shopgreddy.com/17020400.html) and this has me wondering how much it would cost to have a body shop splice the ends from another front air dam onto this one. If I had more glassing experience I'm pretty sure I could do it, but it's a lot of money for an experiment ($400 for the Pandem spoiler and at least $100 for one to sacrifice for the ends). WHY CAN'T THEY MAKE A NARROW VERSION!?!?!

Let's Talk Non-Zed Datsun Colors
I dug through the forums and didn't see this topic addressed anywhere, so I thought I would start a thread to see if anyone had anything to add to it. I will probably end up painting my Z the original Orange (#918), but I have been pondering the idea of painting her a Datsun color that didn't come on the Z originally. There was a Z at the Import Nationals a few weeks ago painted in what I think was the Sora Blue (#563) that came on the roadster and, while not my personal thing, got me thinking that there are tons of beautiful colors Datsun used that didn't make it onto the S30. So, to that end, I thought this would be an interesting topic to bang on while my build thread slows down a bit. I'll start with a few Datsun colors I think would make nice S30 colors, using Datsun paint chips (http://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au/paint_charts_datsun_nissan.php) as a starting point. Grey Green #546 Dragon Green #558 Turquoise #562 Bamboo #529 I think this is Datsun Grey #518 Cocoa Brown #214

Nice Build Write Up on Speedhunters
I just finished reading Taryn Croucher's write up on building her silver 1975 280Z in NZ. It's nice to read through all the details and see where her team ran into trouble and how they overcame the issues. Not a 100% real-world build as they are clearly sponsored and have a pile of experts helping, but still pretty great. Found a ridiculous listing on eBay
Everyone who looks at that ad makes his other ads more likely to be suggested, so his other items will get more exposure, increasing the likelihood of each part selling. Pretty smart. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I was joking about impossible to find parts like diesel cranks. Pretty much got my engine plan locked down now, though. Just sorting details and building my money bonfire.

People who know, Tell me about piston options for L28s. I'm looking around at different options and I *think* Rebello, Wiseco, and Arias offer something with a 38.1 pin height and 86 to 87 mm diameter, but I can't tell if they offer something with a dome. I saw some domed 88.5mm pistons on eBay made by Robello, but that is far too large. And the Nissan domed pistons from Europe (part number 12010-p8612 / 12010-p8617) are not super easy to find, obviously, although a set just sold on eBay for $225. I found a pair but they want $900 and keep not answering my question about the diameter. I imagine someone in Europe has them, but I haven't had time to do a power search yet. ... So I just got off the phone with Rebello and Wiseco. Both have good options for around the same price. I'll probably end up going with Rebello since I can get the cam and pistons designed and made to go together. Now it's time to save more cash.

I've seen EFI tanks all over the place for about $100-150. The 240z tanks? Not so much. Lumens, where are you. If you're selling a never used tank I would consider driving as long as it's not crazy far. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Found one for $280. Gotta go pick it up next Sunday. Pretty heavily varnished, but from the pics looks rust and dent free. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That's what she said. It's working alright. Every time I drain it its significantly cleaner. Just don't know if it's worth fixing.

I don't know what the hell is wrong with this site but these duplicate posts are getting old.

So this is where I am after 6 gallons of white vinegar and one gallon of SuperClean. Clearly the SuperClean is more effective, primarily because I had misdiagnosed that varnish as rust. Also, I'm starting to think that this tank is too beat up to knock back into shape. I've started looking for a replacement that is dent, varnish, and rust free. If I can get one for a good price I might bail on this one.

So that's mostly varnish in there, not rust like I originally thought, which explains why the vinegar isn't getting it off as quickly as I had hoped. I put a gallon of SuperClean in it yesterday along with my box of 100 3/8" nuts and gave myself a great core workout for 20 minutes. It's sitting on saw horses waiting for me to spend more time on it, but I am concerned that the SuperClean might be more likely to make it rust than the vinegar because I am not sure how their acidities compare. Also, I've been looking around and found 3 gas tanks at wrecking yards for under $200 (+ shipping). Wondering if it makes more sense to buy a replacement if I one of them is rust- and dent-free.

Thanks. That will be handy. I got about 50% of the metal clean by tumbling a box of half inch nuts in it for 15 minutes (count them going in and out and have a magnet ready), so it's not as bad as I had thought. I am currently dehumidifying it and will fill it up with white vinegar again once it's dry. That will sit for the rest of the week I think. Then I'll descale it again.

This should give you a sense of what the inside of my tank looks like:

Stainless steel headers, exhausts and JDM twin-pipe mufflers.
My '73 has a smog system. To me, performance means the cleanest emissions I can get with the maximum power, handling, and mileage possible. It's not a track car. Could be wrong, but the performance hit should be negligible considering the rest of the mods I'm doing. From the NJ MVD:

Got it out: It's currently sitting next to my garage dehumidifier with three gallons of white vinegar in it and all the holes plugged. Hopefully I can manage time to work on it every night this week, but it's raining like crazy and the humidity is insane. Thanks for the tips on reconditioning it. Once I have the thing detoxed I'll start working on that.

Well, I had intended to replace all that stuff anyway, but jeeeeeeeze. So tell me about reconditioning a gas tank. Should I just buy a replacement or is taking it to a radiator shop worth while? It's dented and needs knocking back into shape, and this is making me think it should be thoroughly flushed and treated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Drained my tank tonight. Last I checked this is not the correct color for gasoline: Also, it doesn't smell like gasoline. I don't know what kind of additives are in this but it's fumed up my house to the point where I am concerned about my children's future life potential.

door mirrors
I'm looking into what it would take to create an arm for the right side to match the OEM mirror. If anyone has a beat up original that they could donate to the cause I have an engineer waiting in the wings to give me an assessment on getting the parts manufactured.
