  1. Down to 55% so I'm going! Just sent you a direct message.
  2. Last night I marked all of the holes in my engine bay that didn't have something screwed into them when I got the car (remember it was half disassembled when it arrived). Next step is to identify which ones can be welded up and which ones will need to stay.
  3. Looks like rain for 8 hours, as of this afternoon. I'll probably decide at the last minute. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Cool. What kind of turnout should I expect? Are we talking like three S30s or 100?
  5. Anyone going? I'm considering it but that's a lot of driving from north east NJ. http://www.njzclub.com/#one

  7. I've just never seen all the Datsun colors in one sheet before. I've seen tons of conversation about Z colors. I've been scrounging around on eBay and found some collections of chips for a lot of years. Ultimately it's just feeding a bad habit of being indecisive.
  8. Found something interesting on Ratsun: http://community.ratsun.net/topic/20963-original-datsun-paint-codes/
  9. I'm thinking about going with these, which supposedly solves that problem: https://zcardepot.com/exterior/mirrors/mirror-chrome-outside-oe-look-240z-260z-280z.html

  11. Sweet. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Things I learned cutting this hole: I need more light. I need a grinder that can work more finely. Maybe my deemed could work. I need better metal files.
  13. That's the one I returned to him with the hole in it. I haven't seen one for under $400 so far. The turbo guys inflated the market pretty bad before they all switched to RB engines and I don't think it has come back down. I have found tons of engines with 79 heads on them for under $100, though, if that's what one wants.
  14. Okay, did the other side. Next step is cutting the car (BUM Bum buuummmmm). This makes me fidgety so I'm putting it off until tomorrow or Saturday night. Something weird I noticed: the space available to cut open for these patches isn't the same on either side. The driver's side has about 1/2 inch more space between the wheel well and the panel in the middle that covers this bulkhead. Its not an issue; just a thing I noticed. Do you guys think it's just a quirk of an old car, or is it intentionally designed in? I think I read somewhere that the drivetrain is not in the center of the car in order to balance the weight of the driver, but then there's the Japanese/British version...
  15. Test fit after straightening the edges of the driver's side piece: Getting this straight took a surprising amount of time.
  16. Okay, so I was not able to work it out with the seller. The best I could get was an offer for a refund but not on the return shipping, so I guess I'll keep it and try to fix it. The first head came from Asbet Nercissian, aka Pioneer556, in CA. It's been reposted on eBay for even more than he wanted the first time, which is just nuts. The second head that I'm keeping came from Frankie Williams, aka Zperformanceracing, in NC. Looking like $200 to get it to be as described, so it will cost what the first one did in the end. Still on financial budget. But I do have some good news: I got the block paint from Mike!

  18. I'm looking for advice and idea on getting the bay as tidy as possible, not making it look factory stock. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Sorry. Yes, they are out. I'm doing a complete tear down.

  22. Hey, man. Do not fret! I am enjoying the process. Remember, I'm a beginner at sheet metal, so getting familiar with the material is a must. Also, the black goop is rust converter for whomever was wondering. Wanted to stabilize it after using the wire wheels. It'll come off before the primer goes on.
  23. I may have missed it, but I didn't see any mention of what you are planning to bore out the cylinders to in order to get the compression ratio you want. You have to bore it, Mill the p90, or use a different head, even with the flat tops, or find the unobtainable Datsun performance domed Pistons if you want the kind of compression you're talking about. I'm doing a p90 / F54 with SUs and I think I'll be able to get mid to high 9s with .5mm over. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Anyone have any good pics they can share and describe the choices they made? I saw a couple good ones on the catch can thread.
