Air Conditioning.....
Ok, I'll go out when the heat gets down a little bit. The hole in the condenser was hard to even get my cell phone in to take a photo to begin with. Will try again tho. Ugh, the compressor is down below a lot of things. Will do my best. Oh, I forgot to say, on the top of it, is a black wire all wadded up, connected to the compressor but the other end is free. I'll try to photo that too. Thank you gentlemen... Jai

Hahaha... too cute. My dogs stay in the house every night. One never knows when a crazed fireworks person decides to wake the neighborhood by blasting off his finest in the dark of the moon at 2:30 a.m. They sure appreciate my committment to their sanity. Jai

Air Conditioning.....
Rats... not all photos made it. The first one on the post above is the dryer. The second one is a hole in the top right corner of the condenser. The first one on this post is showing the whole shebang. The second one on this post shows the hose leading from the dryer, heading towards the compressor. It has 2 clamps on it, but nothing in between except a metal tube. This last photo here, is the final end of the hose that is split, and disconnected from the condenser (?). That's all the photos I took. If you want more, just ask, and tell me exactly of what. Thank you everyone... Jai

Air Conditioning.....
Good 4th of July Morning to all... I've been studying my FSM this morning to get a feel for the AC unit in RB. Took it outside and compared the pictures with actual parts. This is what I found, and posting photos of same.

Air Conditioning.....
Awww Site, no need to apologize. I did say you were probably right, as I was runing to stick my head back in the sand. I also agree with your probable parts expense list. And since my son will be financing it with me paying back some each month...that parts list is just fine with me. I NEED air conditioing! That is where I can't stand it, or TRUTHFULLY I spend the next day in bed trying to breathe. I was saving to tell all of you when I get the photo of the dryer that was requested. But I know that just putting freon in will not work. Firstly, the mechanic that worked on her in Jacksonville before I got her, tried that twice. Nada. I found out the reason. There is a long hose going from by the firewall to the nose where the pulley is, that is not connected at either end. No workee! Hope your pain will be easier on you. And thanks.

Air Conditioning.....
Thanks for all the rain. I could be wrong, but I do think that each Z has a life of their own. Since RedBird has been "well loved and cared for" in Scottsdale for most of her life and I'm working at continuing that lifestyle, perhaps she will do well beyond the expected. But who am I to say anything against your eons of working on these Z cars? You are most likely right. I'm just a great optimist in love with my Z. I guess we will just have to wait and see, eh? Oh my, hope I don't have to eat those words. Love sure makes us say and do silly things. Tee hee...

Air Conditioning.....
Hi All, I have been recently diagnosed with bad allergies that keep me indoors during the summer heat and humidity. To the point of I'm nearly going to pass out. This is a real bummer for a fun living Z car driver, without air conditioning. I have been given an increase of my social security with the passing of my husband. Both bad and good news. This has enabled me to have some extra $ for things needed on my lovely 1976 Z, RedBird. I am asking you all, just what is involved with getting her non-working AC, or needing to be totally replaced AC, in her working? How do I find someone that is skilled with Z's to do the work? What do I need to know before starting this adventure? I have asked Gwri8 if he knows a local person to do the work, as he is about 30 min. from me, and has told me good info before for local help. But one needs more than just who to take her to. That is why I'm asking the group. I need all the help I can garner for my precious Z.. I'm very excited, because I would have to save all the $ for this project, conceivably by next summer it MIGHT happen. . But I just now discussed this with my son Bill, and he is willing to pay for the work and parts, with me paying him back in monthly installments. Hippo hippo hooray!!! How about that????? Oh my gosh, I am soooo thankful for his assistance. Can't hardly believe it. Wowzeee! Now... what can you all say to get me going in the right direction??? Ready, set, GO..... As always, I am so thankful for this group and their excellent assistance! Thanking each of you in advance. With all my Z love, Jai

Hole by windshield - water get in?
Site, Thank you for giving me this simple inexpensive way to go. The other choice that HR369 mentioned will be put on file for someday when I attack the other small rust with a face lift (full clean down to metal, then new paint job). Ha! That will take me time to save all the $ for her. Ha! She will get the face lift and I won't. But that's ok, anything for MY RedBird!!!

Hole by windshield - water get in?
I do not see any other signs of this problem. But I will sure keep a good watch out. Thank you for your valuable information, that is what I needed. I had nothing but sealing tape here, so I put a piece on it to temp cover it until I heard what to do. Thanks!

Hole by windshield - water get in?
Hi all, There is a "hole" in the top left side of the windshield frame on RedBird. The photo I am sending needs to be enlarged to see what I am talking about. When RedBird arrived, all that could be seen is the "cracked look" to the paint close to the corner. I have recently noticed that there is a hole that is just under the edge of the weather stripping. Perhaps the black stripping has reacted to our heat, and shrunk up some, enough to reveal the hole below. I am concerned because I don't know where it leads. Could it be a dead end pocket to gather water when it rains, or when I wash her? Yikes!!! The way it is situated, it looks like a direct drain into parts unknown. So I'm very concerned, and I'm feeling like I need to quickly put something in it, on it, to plug it so that nothing will get in there. So, give me some good ideas, let me know what you think it is, how it happened, and what to do about it. Thanks bunches... Jai

76 Locking Gas Cap
- 76 Locking Gas Cap
I am looking for a keyed lock, that eWould be easiest and cheapest for me. If not keyed, I've seen the keyed ones alone for sale. Could get one of those to add to a door that only had the twist type. Stil,l making a locking door to protect RedBird. Thanks for your Inquiry. Have fun! Jai- 76 Locking Gas Cap
Howdy all, Something different. I have been told by my neighbor, the one who painted the repairs on RedBird when I took her in, that he would sand and paint a replacement door for me for free. The exciting part is that I might be able to find a door with a twist lock in it, much easier than I can find the illusive locking gas cap. Yay! Next question is, anyone here have one they would send to me quickly? If you need to sell it, thats ok. I would need until 7/3 when social security hits the bank before I can pay for it. Good news eh? Thank you all for working thru this with me. I do so appreciate each of you. Jai- 76 Locking Gas Cap
Maybe I'd best plan on paying you then. He he...- 76 Locking Gas Cap
I do !!! How much are you selling it for??? Whichever "coat" looks best with a Red Z. Thanks for figuring it out! Jai- 76 Locking Gas Cap

Thank you Steve. The last one is really too expensive for me. The 2nd one, I talked to on the phone and we exchanged measurements. No go, the inside, filler hole size is 2 1/2 inches. RB'S are 2 3/5 inches. So no go. The first one I have sent the measurements needed, because he states no refund. That would be the pits, spend $, have locking cap, and lose on both scores. So we shall see what he says. Thanks again!- [2016] What Did You Do To/with Your Z Today?
Ah well... IF RedBird had those, I might feel the same. She Is a virgin, does not have them added. Jai- [2016] What Did You Do To/with Your Z Today?
I was able recently to gift my RedBird with a new radio/cd player and speakers. They are Pioneer, and sound GREAT!!! One of my "want to do asap" has been done for the both of us. I'm sure she is happier, that old radio really was on it's last leg. And with only one working speaker, the sound was frightful. I am absolutely thrilled, now I can listen to the Old Classical Rock and Roll and blast my ears out if I choose! HA! I won't, but it is nice to have an option for it.- 240z Gas Caps are Outrageous! Locking?
I've been reading on this. I know it is way back in the past, but do you have any of the locking caps left? Thank you, Jai- Dalton Distillery
