  1. I wish to thank each of you for all your insights, the offers for help, and the offers of parts for my RedBird. You guys are such great people. Miracle workers actually. The tag below was made for Redwing the 240Z in 1972, 43 years ago. She has worn it proudly ever since. It is made of teak wood, decorated with brass, with added silver. Starting to look a little worse for wear, but I would too if I rode on the nose of a Z for 43 years. Hahaha
  2. Ok, thank you Cliff! You are a true blessing for me and my Z. It will be so nice when I get to meet you and all the others that are helping me. Steve, what about the fuel pump? Will you be able to determine if it is failing? If so, should I get one, like I stated before? If it is the culprit, I still won't be able to drive RB after you leave if it is not replaced. This "trip" with my ailing Z is a real eye opener. I am so very amazed at all the wonderful help. Steve, how do you like your photo? Looks good to me. You look very tall next to your Z. How are you feeling today? Left over gravel pains, heatstroke? It took it's toll on me, that darned heat. So I'm doing nothing today, just staying in the AC and resting. Maturity su<ks! Jai
  3. I got a ride in Stevens Beautiful, Throaty, Wonderful Z. Really makes me want to drive my RedBird. Hard to be patient, as she sits right there looking like an ice cream Sunday with cherry syrup on top! Yum. My sincere appreciation goes to Steve for working on my RedBird, and going beyond. Considering the distance he travelled, the high heat and high humidity, he is just like the Energizer Bunny, on and on and on. I truly was amazed at all he did. Also much gratitude for y'all out there for your wisdom and the presents of parts, including the FSM. I am learning alot. You know, I searched out an online group to help me with my RB. The local mechanic here was wanting to almost do a lobotomy on her. It scared me, I knew not to let him, or any other non Z mechanic do any work on her. My quest ended here at CCZ. I am so thankful that God showed me where to look for help. Y'all are great! Now I am asking about when Steve comes back. Steve said his thinking is that the problem is in these suspicious parts. 1) fuel pump 2) fuel pressure regulator 3) EFI Should I order these parts and have them on hand? Should one of them be the bad guy, for after Steve checks with the things he is bringing. That way he could just slip the new part in, and not have to come back another time to do it. I would then return any that are not needed. Is that logical? Thanks again y'all! Have a great day, and if you live in the SE corner of the USA, stay cool!
  4. Lumens "But at some point" .... what???
  5. Hmmm, I need to do this. My L door key is ok, but door will not stay unlocked, which is dangerous. My R door will not open by key, have to unlock from inside. Deck key used to not work until I got graphite and inserted it into lock. Now it works, but have to jiggle key into correct place to make it work. It sure would be nice to have all locks and keys function properly. Think a locksmith will be able sort this out? Thanks, Jai

Or, I believe I saw you have a Samsung phone. You can go to Play Store and download free for your phone an app called "PicsArt". It is a camera image editing proggie, that is so easy to use. I have it and edit my photos on the spot when I need to. Then save them where you want, right in your phone. Amazing little app.
  7. Alcohol is all? I think not, what about those awards? Victoria's Secret? You are so silly Site. Remember the first photo posted of the group was small. And when I enlarged it to see the "hovering half man", it went out of focus so I could not get a clear look. Was not even looking at the square corners on the "half man" photo, because there are several square corners along that wall. Poor Zup, out of focus your hair looked like a lady. Sorry Zup, not my fault. I always look at photos intensely, background at all. It didn't help any either, I had been to You Tube looking at ghostly figures! You guys are great! I am so blessed to having joined this group and meeting each of you. Also to those of you not involved here in this portion of Classic Cars, but helping me too! Thank you for your assistance with my sweet RedBird.
  8. Enjoyed all the photos and your running commentary of the weeks events. So thrilling! All the way, driving your sweet 260 , arriving there at home for her bath and massage drying. Thank you for sharing it all with us! Gosh, if it had been in 2016 instead, you know, giving me time to get RedBird more roadworthy, I would have made every effort to be there. Would have loved to meet everyone. Sounds like all of you had such a great time.
  9. HA! I knew that photo had my curiosity up, I have heard of photos "catching" other world images. Good photo bomb Steve!!! I did not realize it was a "stitch" photo. But guess that was your intent. Sorry my eyes are bad, and you looked like a female Site. Please forgive me! Just an old lady trying to keep up with you kids. Y'all looked so content and happy!
  10. Steve, For those of us not fortunate to have met each other, how about telling us who each person is in your dinner photo? That would be so neat to have an image in the mind for whenever reading their posts, etc. By the way, if you look close at the lady on the left end, the fellow behind her looks like a ghost with no lower extremities and hovering, showing the flowers the table behind y'all. Until I figured out he must have been a server! Ha! Thanks, Jai
  11. I understand. Sometimes those Z's just take the bit in their mouth and it is hard to hold them back. Easier to just go along with them for the ride! Wheeeeeee.......
  12. Site, Thank you for posting all the photos, for all of us who are not there. It is so exciting to see them. Maybe someday I can get to an event. I love my lil RedBird, even tho she in no way can even get close the beautiful cars there. I would have to find her a space to park on the back row! Hahaha Hope you have a great time!
  13. Ok on the red hoses, I can deal with that small spurt of gas. Thank you.
  14. Sorry to hear about folks taking advantage of your good nature. Sad. Yea, it's hard to be good. I cannot find a menu bar with a smiley face on it, or no "new media" either. What page are you on?
  15. Fastwoman I see the 2 red hoses on right side of engine. Are you saying there is no fuel in them, so it is ok to work on them?
  16. Site... you're a good son. I applaud you. How to get the emoticons on your text here?
  17. Oops, have starter fluid, but do not have the electric board cleaner. Sorry...
  18. EuroDat and FastWoman I checked out the placement of the TIU. I think there is no way I can reach that area to do as EuroDat suggested. I am going to have to wait for help with it. Also for the starter fluid test, I need help. Perhaps this all may have to wait until next Saturday, and hope Chip can come back then. I do not have the can of spray yet either. Wish I had better news to tell you, but these are my limitations to getting these tests done. FYI I cannot ask my son to help, he is a surveyor and is out in our horrible heat (upper 90's with heat index over 100) all day, usually 6:30-7 a.m. until 5:30. He comes home deflated, needs a shower and AC. Not up to doing Anything except vegetating and eating, totally exhausted.
  19. Today is interesting. I missed my ride to church this morning. And after calling all of my other friends I did not reach anyone. So! My only choice was to take RedBird. My church is about 3 miles from home. I figured that if she ran for 30 minutes before stopping yesterday, that maybe she would be ok. She did fine, I was grinning ear to ear both ways. There is a Mazda ad on tv. It is about a boy growing up with the cars involved. Starting with a roadster, then medium before marriage, finally a bigger car with wife and child. The last image was saying "something new "(as the garage door opened up to a new roadster) "for you to remember When You Were You!" Oh Boy that says it all, resonates with me totally with my RedBird. I feel like me when I was myself!!! Oh joy!
  20. Sorry Site, I got names confused when I mentioned you.
  21. Fastwoman - so are you saying that the Large Red Hose across the top of my engine, when car is not running is empty of contents? If so, then no problem replacing it. That is if Site and Gregg ok that change. Don't want to do anything to make their job here more involved. Also, you said I was using a wrong hose for the air check on the vent system. So tell me which hose. Off the carbon canister is a good place, for I am sure I know where those hoses are. I am surprised you think I got the wrong hose, I was pleased I got that test done. (Poo) But I am a novice, so for sure anything is possible. The starter fluid was put directly into the manifold. I tried to follow the instructions given, squirting it in with bursts about a second long each. When she died, I did a repeat, squirting more, 4 squirts of same time. Now it is possible I that I did not get it right, get enough in, I am very afraid of the starter fluid. Chip told me it is very volitle. I had heard that before too. I put a paper towel around the hole I was squirting into. I did not know if it would be a problem if it got on the manifold and then started her, so was trying not to let that happen. I can repeat the test if you think I need to. Thank you all for the comments and photos. I will go and see the TIU, and photo it to send. And, will get a can of electric contact cleaner. Seems like that would be much easier than holding a frozen object for who knows how long. Think, I am somewhat physically handicapped. Not sure my body would allow me to be in an awkward position for a long time holding the iced object on it. Hint, if I end up on the ground, it is very difficult for me to get up, without something to hang onto it is almost impossible. BIG QUESTION since this is an electrical part, any chance I will get zapped? Do I need to remove the negative battery connection while handling the unit? Then hook it back up to try to start her? Another reason why I'm not interested in using a frozen object, water and electric held by hand? Yipes!!! Thanks all for your helpful assistance!
  22. Yes, sometimes she doesn't start after a cool all night resting. (Maybe showing not a "hot" problem?) Then 3, 5, 10, 15, 18, 30, 40 minutes (approximate actual times) after starting. Not in that order, but slowly working to less and less time. One time she died early maybe at 20 minutes, then went on ok for another 35 minutes. Just no rhyme or reason.
  23. I found the transistor ignition unit, as the manual calls it. The description of where it is located: "On the right hand dash side panel in passenger compartment." Nothing else, that's the complete description. The description where it is at seems incomplete to me. Well, now if only I knew what it looks like, I could hunt for it. No information about that at all. At least now I know the full name of it so I can search for one to look at it.
  24. Remember, right after her dying, Chip felt the coil and there was hardly any warmth in it. The coil is filled with the motor oil?
  25. Yes I can get a freeze pack and try that. More info from doing more testing. Yay. Maybe take a short drive with the freeze pack in an ice chest.
