  3. Hello... Starting a Thanksgiving chit chat since I note no one else has. A step beyond wishing everyone a good holiday, I suggest we give thanks for our blessings here. Anyone join me? I am so blessed that I was allowed to have the joy of owing a second Z in my life. And, for finding this great bunch of people to share and learn from. Coming back home this morning, when I got out of RedBird, I found this leaf attached to her. AmaZing! I immediately wanted to share the beauty and mystery of this gift with each of you. So, have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day my friends... Jai
  4. Ahhh, yes a sad time. I see the snow with your footprints in it. Did you walk out to take that great photo? Where do you live in Sweden? I have a friend that is from there. I'll tell him about you. They go back often. Have fun, Jai
  5. Lovely photos. Nice quiet roads to drive, eh? Very serene. Jai
  6. This is my first Z. She is Redwing, a 1971 purchased new, HLS 30 11904. This first photo is celebrating her first 100,000 miles. Sorry, there is not more of her to see, this is the only old photo I could find. I was christening her with wine. The second photo is a 200,000 mile photo. I drove her 259,000 miles total. She is now in the hands of Tim, who is doing a full restore on her.
  7. Thank you. All of the suggestions are blessings to me! I'll do It soon. Jai
  8. Thank you rcb. I plan on doing that. Jai
  9. Right! My way is to go in front of a store and view the lights mirrored in the window. I can check them all that way. I did last night on the way home, and she passed inspection ok. Thank you, Jai
  10. Dmoralesbello, Patcon, & ZedHead. Thank each of you for sending in ideas and photos, that's a big help. BUT.... When I came out of church this morning, my turn signals were working again!!! Praise the Lord!!!!! Without thinking I flip them on, (years of habit) and there was that green arrow flashing at me. I know I need to go ahead and Deoxit the connections because they'll go out again sometime. Isn't that great? I'm so happy!!! Takes the immediate pressure off me. Thanks again for help sent to me! You are the best!!! Jai
  11. dmoralesbello, Thanks for your information, I'll have to look up the connectors for the flasher relays in my FSM, as I have no idea what they look like. I'll get on this after Church tomorrow. Jai
  12. As some of you have experienced, my turn signals suddenly quit. Now I need help. When RedBird arrived here on 3/15, they were not working. Being a compulsive person, I continued to use them, it is so ingrained in me. After months of being without and driving cautiously with hand signals, they suddenly started working again. Hooray! They continued to work until 8/16 the right side quit. Sam the mechanic that was installing the A/C, replaced the bulb. Yay, that was easy. Now, about a week ago they both quit again. I am searching for what I need to do to get them working. Mark suggested that I use a volt meter and check the connections. And also put some Deoxit on the connections. This is good information, but 2 things are in my way. 1) I don't know where all the connections are. I've been looking in my FSM with little success. Would someone please aim me at the section or chart where I can find the connections I need to check. 2) I am just now learning how to use my volt meter, and I'm afraid I'll make a mistake. Mark has sent me info on how to use it, hopefully I'll be able to put his info into a good success. If anyone has other ideas on what to do, or check, or other suggestions, I'd be most happy to hear them. Thank you all so much. Jai

Hiya plucker... I'm Redwing, a "mature" lady of 74. I have the sister to your red Z, my '76 RedBird. I bought her almost 2 years ago. She came from Scottsdale, a 1 owner car. I was exceedingly fortunate to get her, she is in real good shape. Does not have the rust you mentioned your Z has, but she had a myriad of senseless problems, to which my friends here helped me with. The final thing that corrected the last of the dogging problems was to put in a new/old ECU. Once that was installed, all other problems vanished. She is a super driving car now, quite the sweet little lady. I was told about your joining and how much your Z looks like RedBird. I have to agree. Did you say yours was a '77? Anyway, welcome to this great group. They love Z's, and are willing to help figure out problems.
  14. Hi all, After an emotional weekend, here is what I have decided to do. Yesterday Sam and I went to a local parts store and picked up a new heat/cold control for the lines in the motor. Now the AC is working perfect, the part sent with the kit even tho new was non functional. Now what to do? I thought back when I first posed the AC subject, and remembered a lot of you were saying to just go with the full new unit. Saying that if I could gather the 40 year old parts and make up a workable unit, but who is to say if they would work for me? Or if so, how long would they work before dying. Just go for the new. About the disfigured area where the control slider unit lives, I told Sam that it had to go. We will re install the slider control, with it being a facade. It will be non functioning, but keep the normal appearance to her. There was a small bracket included in the parts sent with the AC unit to attach those 2 twist knobs for fan and cool control. Sam will put it in an area which will be discreet, and still be handy. Along with the single pull knob that will control the defroster. I'll share photos of the finished console and the new control bracket. As to the radio not fitting, I will just search and find one that will fit now. Sending huge thank you's to all who have made suggestions for this endeavor. I could not have made it without your support. I'm praying this will have the best outcome for me. 17. That Is what Im looking for now. Thanks...
  18. I am with Sam right now. He is getting a replacement valve that switches it from cool to heat. We have discussed the control slider problem. The bracket he made to put in place of the slider control, has to come out. It is definately not staying in because it is defacing RedBird. If these 2 problems can be taken care of, I say great. I will do ok. The slider control is my idea, Sam came up with the idea for the valve switch for the cool/heat. We can make yhis work without totally removing the AC unit. More later, Jai
  19. Sorry, mixed the words. The evaporator is ok I think. As I said I will be seeing Sam later on. Have a vet appointment with Deanna first. Thanks, Jai
  20. Hr369, I'm not sure about the blower, but I think that the new system replaced it. I'll have to check with Sam. Will do and report later on. Thanks, Jai
  21. It was thought that the large hole in it, at the corner, would make it unusable. Thanks...
  22. Dave thank you. I am interested in the condenser as the one in RedBird had a big hole in it.
  23. Zed Head, The unit is in but the modifications to allow it to be there are more than I want to deal with. The slide control unit has to be taken out as the AC came with different controls totally. A plate has to be installed to allow for the new controls to be used. Then there is the radio. The unit under the dash is so large that the radio no longer fits, it sticks out close to 2 1/2 inches. All this just destroys the integrity of the dash control area. That is more than I want to deal with. Thanks...
  24. Hi Dave, Yes, RedBird had a very non working AC unit in her when I got her. Hoses were in the engine just laying there, not connected, and the compressor was open no caps on the hose connections. Mark, Thank you for spotting the AC unit. I'm very interested.
  25. I have found a great mechanic who is willing to do the removal and placing a different AC in my car, for no added labor costs. He said he just wants me to be ok with the job. Amazing eh? Thank you,,,l .
