clutch pedal
Hi all, Probably due to poor installation, the zip ties fell off. So I am wondering if it is feasible to get a larger pedal, with it having more area off to the left? That is where my foot slips off. Or, Mickey Mouse one out of a piece of wood (or something else?), covered by the grip tape Site mentioned? I have noticed 2 things. First, tennis shoes are no good, as the sole extends beyond the edge of the shoe. That causes space problems for me. Second, the thick soles prevent the actual touch/feel where the pedal is located. Another problem for me. My solution is to get shoes that do not extend beyond the foot, and also the soles are thin enough to "feel" the pedal. My thought is to try out my leather Indian moccasins. Any ideas regarding the enlarged pedal will be very welcome. Thanks again folks. Jai

280 Z Non Locking Driver Door
I've had problems with the driver side door locking me out ever since I got RedBird. Last week it got worse, and would not lock using key to secure RB when leaving her. That made it impossible for me to go anywhere, I do not leave her unlocked. Plus, the alignment of the door was such that it would not completely close. My neighbor, who happens to be the one who painted RB at the body shop, came over Saturday to look at it. He pulled the whole door locking mechanism apart looking for the problem. What he found was the tiny spring tensioner was broken, and only a tiny piece was left. And that is the problem. But he fiddled and lubricated every part in the locking mechanism, making it all work easier. After putting it back together, the door will now lock. It automatically locks, shutting me out once again. That I can live with. It was the non locking when leaving RB that I could not live with, which is working now. So my question is, does anyone know if that little spring tensioner can be replaced? Or does the whole locking assembly have to be replaced to correct this? As always, thank each of you for your helpful information in advance. Jai

Who's been MIA?
Good to hear from you again Sara, so glad to hear your partner is doing well. We will all support you in anything you need, just let us know what's needed. I know I'm new, but I can speak for all I think, as this wonderful family has helped me so much. But you were the one who took me under your wings, and got me started. I thank you so much for everything, as I know the others do. Nothing but good comments about you! God bless you and your partner... Jai

What a Difference a Day Makes with RedBird
Mark, You are correct. We decided to run her a while, not letting her get under the half tank. That would be the first half of the proof. Then I was to let her run low, to see if it happened again (per your suggestion). That would be the 2nd half of the proof. I have not done that half yet. It will be easy enough to do tho, carrying my gas can to put gas in when she dies. Waiting for the right time to do it. Aching back from contortions whilst removing parts from PartiGirl? Ouch!!! We got some sleet today, but are forcast for accumulating snow starting Friday. I'll get a ride to church. I don't think they salt these country roads, but I'm going to call and ask to make sure. Jai

What a Difference a Day Makes with RedBird
Thank you Patcon. I have been writing notes on all that has been said. I just checked my maintenance log, and the little filter was installed on 8/15/15. Long enough to get gunked up. My son just left town today for a few days. I had prepared a list of things for him to help me with, but it will have to wait now. Thank you Chickenman for your valuable information. Ha! Maybe that is it Chickenman. I did not start smelling gas in the carport until I started fully filling the tank. Wouldn't that be something...cannot fill over 3/4, and not let it get lower than 1/2 tank. Hahaha, that's gonna be hard to do! Jai

What a Difference a Day Makes with RedBird
Site, Mark, and CanTechZ- As to the copper washers, I have no idea. But Steve, and then Tim and Steve, dropped the tank. So most likely Steve, when he reads this, will be able to say. I put a tub under the tank, like Zed suggested. Will check it in a while to see if any gas dripping. There was no gas on the fresh cardboard when I put the tub on it. Thinking, could it be that the gas drips off only whilst she is warming up? Also, no gas odor in the cabin, with windows up. Is the G3 filter the little one by the pump? If so, it has been installed within the past few months. I can check my repair log to get exact date later. Would a fuel leak cause non starting or stalling? Thank you CanTechZ, Mark, and Site for your thoughts! Later, Jai

What a Difference a Day Makes with RedBird
Zed, A bit confused, probably my fault not reporting correctly. I noticed the new wet gravel after I had filled up on Monday. Sorry. I ran out for a short time this morning, and then placed a fresh white cardboard under where I saw the dark gravel. So we shall see if I catch anything new. Thank you, Jai

What a Difference a Day Makes with RedBird
Dennis, I will have to check for the answers for most of your questions. But to say for now, I never fill more than when it clicks off. Or if I am doing the filling, I stop before it gets to the filler neck. That has always been a habit, even way back with Redwing. Just seemed prudent. Thanks, will try to get help with the rest of your questions. Might be a bit, they are forecasting some snow and ice tomorrow. Then more snow to accumulate later this week/weekend. I won't be out on the roads until it all clears, I'll get others to take me wherever. Not sure when I'll get help to answer you. Thanks again, Jai

What a Difference a Day Makes with RedBird
Pfooey. I filled up with gas on Sat. I was thinking that was quick to have to fill up so soon, (remember, I fill up before the gauge gets down to showing half a tank full) only 2 days had passed since I'd put gas in, but not a half tank. So today I was out in the carport with RedBird, and happened to notice gravel that looked like it had gas on it, square, right under the middle of the tank. There came the pfooey. Got some of the gravel out, yep, gas. The gravel coated with gas this time is larger, about 3 inches in diameter. Now what? Thanks all...

clutch pedal
Thank you Site and Zed Head. All good ideas. I think I will go for the zip ties at this time. I am beyond broke, in the red as they say, badly. So that will be the quickest and easiest for now. Maybe later I'll do the others. I do appreciate y'all not poking fun at me. I was concerned when posting my delema. Site, a photo to go by would be nice, thanks for offering!

clutch pedal
I have a small problem with my clutch pedal, and my foot slipping off the pedal while holding it to the floor. My shoes were slightly wet, and I had dried them, but it has happened twice now. I know not to wear my Crocs anymore when driving. But, I want to know if there is a way to enhance the pedal, to make it so it will be less likely to happen? I know this sounds dumb, but it was a real surprise, not to mention might being dangerous. All insights are welcome. Thank you...

Need fuse box cover
Thank you Steve for also giving the correct part number for the fuse box cover. It seemed confusing with the 2 parts numbers. The clincher is the build date. I appreciate you assisting me once again. Jai
