  1. Zed Head I am sorry, I answered about the tach to Sightunseen. Please read it there. Sorry Sightunseen. The battery is cleaned up. It was the negative pole. He also tightened the 2 loose wires on it.

  3. FastWoman I read your information in your post #22, and appreciate your helping me. As I do read all info I can get my hands on. It will take me a bit to gather things and dig into this, but have faith, I will. I also will get better engine photos. Strange you mentioned the fuse able links. When I got the car, the one closest to the firewall was missing. I did a search for what it was, then got one off eBay. This was before I joined this group. I knew if one was there, the other one needed covered too. You posted a link to StickyEFI, and it was good too. At the bottom of his text, he had another link to EFI and fuel.htm. All I can say is Wow. Very informative and technical. That for sure instilled the fear of a half way mechanic working on my Z. I do not know how I will get the difficult stuff done, but it will not be attempted by the wrong person. Oh yes, I have suspected my Z was in an accident or more. Bondo under the LF wheelwell, and the hood slightly misalligned. So I am not surprised about the bumper. Thank you for all you have shared with me.

  5. Siteunseen My tach apparently does not work. Or, when my friend started my battery he found 3 loose wires hanging in the lower left front side of the motor. Maybe one has something to do with the tach. He could not see where they go, so he left them. Thank goodness. Someone posted a link to the best fixes on 280's I think yesterday, or Wed. I was reading them. (Cannot find them again.) They are so technical and involved. Makes me fearful of anyone touching my Z. He works for Shaw carpeting, a mechanic on their trucks for 13 years. But working on a semi and a Z might be like Venus and Mars alike. He is willing to work on my Z, and now I am afraid to let him since I read all that. I met him when he stopped me in a perking lot, and asked if she was for sale. I get that every time I take her out. HA! So, back to the tach, any ideas?

Tomahawk I got one exactly as you describe off eBay. Copy and paste this item number 310991051384 it is around $20. depending who you get it from. Or type in Wet Dry Auto Vac and there is quite a choice. Snoop around for the best price.
  7. hr369 Where in the engine did you place the z x injector fan? Would you please give more info on the installation? I first need to find out more why my '76 280 Z is having problems, but for sure am interested in your solution. Thank you
  8. Zed Head Thank you for explaining where the charcoal canister is located and size. I saw it immediately when I went to look for it, before I did not know size and placement. I do not know if it is functioning as it should, but at least I know it is there. '71 Nissan 240Z suggested leaving the gas cap a little loose. I am going to try that today, as I have a physical therapy appointment, a longer drive. This is where she usually has stalling problems. Thank you '71 Nissan 240Z. Folks, I am not experienced with this car. What I learned from Dad was way back in '71-'76. Only basic stuff, I do not remember fuel injection info at all. Thanks for your help, please try to 's plain so I understand.
  9. On my Z it is a HUGE whoosh.
  10. I used to live just outside of Anderson. I have a good friend there. What ha need...? Jai

My 280 Z came to me without a fuse box cover. The car interior is black. If anyone has one they do not need, please let me know. Thank you, Jai
  12. What year is your car? I am having the big whoosh rush of air too, on my '76 280Z. Trying to figure it out.

Congratulations Scott, I am so happy for you. I am new on the list with questions about fixing my '76 280Z. I have an original 240, HLS30 11,904 (Redwing), that I used to have nightmares of someone stealing her. I put 256,000 miles on her, mostly in Miami where car theft was rampant.
  14. I could start out to Chet and if got into trouble, call a tow truck. I get that for free for 100 mi., once a week.
  15. I have no idea who owned her. I had the clean title, one owner from Az. But I got her off eBay, she was in Miami. No idea how she got there.
  16. Ok, I have to admit you all are way over my head. Some of the parts listed in just letters, I am unable to figure out. Most of the ideas you share are beyond my abilities to do. I do not have any of the testing items you suggest to use. I am wondering if a mechanic will follow my instructions I get from you, or will I cause ego problems, with him thinking I do not know what I am talking about, and do whatever. So, any ideas knowing this about me? Sorry...
  17. Tried to go to grocery today, 6 miles away. She stalled and stopped 3 times on the way there. Once on way home. Made for a very long trip. I've been told that since her temp guage is not working, that she is reacting as if it is very cold out and using extra fuel. Not sure if that info is correct. Any idea? Seems she might be running rich, the exhaust pipe is black with residue, can get gobs of it on fingers by a small swipe. Black exhaust exits. I will prepare for those tests the next time I go out, and will report back. Thank you all for your help...
  18. Somewhere on this list, someone suggested to post what parts I need, and perhaps one of you would be able to help. I cannot locate that post, so here it is. Anyone know what ignition module I would need for my 1976 280 Z? And where can I find it for the least amount of $? Thanks folks...
  19. I love this camera. I do not have a digital SLR. This is in my Samsung Galaxy S3 phone. I do have a digital Olympus which it is older, long lens but not near as good as today's. A digital SLR is in bucket list after RedZeee is running good. Thank you for comments.
  20. My battery died overnight. I did not leave anything turned on. My friend came to jump start her, alas no good. He discovered a screw that is attached to the negative pole, was loose. It has 2 small wires being held in place, I don't know where they go. My question is.... any chance that this loose screw could connect and disconnect (whatever), as I drove along, causing my instant loss of power? Wish I were more knowledgeable about these 2 wires. Thanks
  21. Steve That is my engine in the 280 with stalling problems. Oh Lord, I do pray you are wrong. Jai
  22. No I have not pulled out the plugs to check. They all, except for this one, are bright and shiny. Appear very new. Hate to sound dumb, but what brake fluid does one use? The 2 resoviers are needing a bit, about half full. Thanks, Jai
