FYI-- Those bumpers are off of a 74-74.5 260z...not 240z.

the is nothing 'minor' about the rust on the edges of the hatch back... If it wasn't treated with por15 or similiar, that rust WILL show up sooner than later...if he just had it sanded down and painted over... Don't ever expect to find a rust free Z so if its pretty good get it--just try and make sure you find as much rust as possible.... Wheel wells on the outside, the DOGLEGS, the area in the wheel wells where the compression rods for the front suspension attach to the body (at the frame rails) UNDER the battery....great places to look --under front area of engine hood--at the sheet metal on the underside (to see if they've even 'bumped' the hood against anything and had it bondo'd...if you can get the rear inside panel (that covers the taillights) if you can remove this (like Beandip was saying) look at the sheet metal in the area (the inside of this area)...the rear deck is a nasty place....it'd be good if you knew if it was rusty though, so you can get some $ knocked off when you explain...
  4. zeewhiz, the point is, the company dashboard restorations I think stopped using the washington sight...as a dealer for their product...so you have to go through AU

Nissan OEM brand new...that's what MSA sells too--I got one from them--think of it this way--you probably won't have to replace it for a long time and it's a very important piece of equipment...looks good all new under hood with the shiny fill caps too.

in modern cars, how is this vent accomplished nowadays?
  7. yes it will! You can't paint over por15 with normal paint...it will come off. You would have to use Por primer or etch the crap out of the por15 to give it some bite, but good luck. Also por's chassis coat black goes over por15 pretty good, but that doesn't help ya.
  8. i have a 74.5 electric pump out of a 260z with carbs...Nissan Oem was bought in '90 or so for $400 at Nissan...was used for about a year...has been in the garage since...let me know if you want to buy it.
  9. No prob, other bloody 280z dude, yeah, even when I owned a 74.5 260z (the big bumper version, basically a 280z but 2.6 liter and no fuel inj)...even the 260z had a lot more refinement than my 72...the 72 seems like a strong wind could blow it away,...I wonder how much a 280z door weighs in comparison. albeit, it wouldn't be much heavier, but if the handle can be held up and locked, then it has got to weigh something heavier, even if just a few ounces, I would think....
  10. Prolax--you going with the bumper cap kit for the rear end? (like what Vicky w/ zrush) has? Without the chrome bumper on the front, the rear would look wrong--but, don't take off the bumper (and just have nothing)...I would highly recommend some sort of bumper reinforcement will be under the gnose/rear end if you do that.
  11. 240ztt.... You might've already said this, but what color are you painting her? and is that original or ? Baby has some nice new shoes now!....
  12. Sorry Blake! It was the other bloody 280z dude, 'datsunsZrule'...my apologies.
  13. I wonder if you're going to get enough air to everything when you have that G nose on there....yeah, it looks like a chipmunk!

71datsun 240z---I pm'd you check your messages...I have 2 73 doors, rh and lh. for sale from Portland, Oregon. Dogma
  15. Sblake- It might work on a 280z but on a Series I,II,III 240z you CAN'T lift up the handle to lock door under any circumstances...it just isn't going to work. Sorry.
  16. Tomohawk, With you entering shows, etc...could you please take a good picture of your engine compartment for this guy and put it in your gallery with a link to it in here? I think he'd like it. Seems like you are doing more shows--its 'just' your hood--remove the undercoating and do your baby some justice for the car shows!
  17. Yes Prolaximus, man, your 280 looks great WITH the bumper...the front area of a 280z looks horrible without the bumper...the cutout just looks all wrong... All S30s look somewhat incomplete without a bumper on front...not to mention unsafe.

The point was, this wasn't even a Zed man, that's what he means. He's not talking about the V8 as much as he's talking about the car not even being a Datsun... Normally, you put modified z cars in the "modified z car" forum. ...and I really really doubt he was looking inside the forum section you are talking about...new posts are listed at the bottom of the home page of the site--that's where you go first when you come on the website.
  19. Let's assume the door not being able to be opened by the chick inside the car is just part of the story--you guys are geeking on it too much.... In real life, you have to lock the door when it's closed--annoying, but good because I've never locked my keys inside :-)...I don't recall how he opened the door after she drove, but I'd think that the inside handle and window knob were both disabled (along with the lock not there inside)...I don't think we are going to make sense of the situation though...they kind of screwed up there on logic... The color wasn't 'orange' but was 'Datsun Red' like my car, red 110...you can tell because when he's driving away and you see the rear, its much more red in the shadows...my fiance was saying..."that looks just like your car, but something is different"...I pointed out that it didn't have bumper guards---makes a big difference in looks, I'm surprised my chick noticed. The wipers were obviously on another car--they worked way too well--as anyone knows that owns an early 240...280z's have great wipers in comparison. I thought the ones they showed worked real good, wish mine worked that well. Tomohawk--you're doomed man, from now one everyone is going to think you are trying to kill chicks with your Zed...(just kidding).... You all take care...by the way, after the first shot at the beginning, I really tried to watch this show, but it sucked (esp. right after CSI) I had to turn it to something else around 10:15 or 20....I tried though...

Fun in my Z and Bill R--check out my vin as well....
  21. so 240tt you don't need overfenders or you do? You say they don't rub with the lip bent, but then say a reduced size so you don't need the ZG flares...let me know, I really like the look of those wheels....if I had to, I would put the ZG flares on the rear, but leave the front without them...I think that would look pretty good (ala old Bronco)... by the way, those wheels fit the wheel well perfectly...is that stock suspension height? Time to save $2500! Beautiful, awesome wheels look man!!! careful where you park it!!!!
  22. I'd have to agree that the watanabe's look great....nothing like the look of great offset on a Z...that is the only problem with the FWD/spacer wheels...the Z is like an older Porsche 911....the deep dish offset look looks so natural....
  23. Luckily it is right after CSI, (which is my crack drug) so I won't have any issues remembering to watch! Of all the shows on TV right now, if I just watch one a week, it's gotta be CSI! The cliffhanger with Nick being buried at the end of last season is going to make it good tonight! You all take care, esp. if you are in Rita's path.
  24. So 240ZTT what are the exact measurements of your tires and wheels? and at the place you gave a link for (where you bought them) is that a new wheel price you paid or are they used? They look new...they are the rs9 watanabe's?

Just take your radiator and get it redone at a radiator shop....best thing to do--you know where the core came from as well when you do this. I did this for my radiator and my heater core, both are as good as new...had the top cap/bottom cap of the radiator rewelded on (if that's what they do...)
