I'm probably going to be beat up for this...
well i know i shouldnt ask this question but as the owner and builder of a v8 zed i have to ask when is a zed no longer a zed cant we all just appreciate peoples desire to be different and respect the work they do and the fact they are keeping zeds on the road theres enough chev ford $^!# out there to fuel the world for years so how about we just look after the all zeds instead of fighting amongst ourselves Mick

Paint systems
i have survived painting two pack at home would recomend good breathing filters and extraction fan to suck paint out as soon as possible my suggestion would be to do all the prep work at home if full respray or colour change do inside doors hatch and engine bay then organise a body works to spray top coat on outside of car in a spray booth thats the way i did my car much cheaper the top coat really is the easy part once everything is ready best to talk to who you want to paint top coat find out what paint they recomend then use the primer to match i have found no matter how hard you try spraying any where but in a booth or oven ends up with bits of duat or other stuff in paint thats why i reckon your best to pay a little more and get top coat done in a booth or oven i have painted my rally cars and ute at home but for a job you care about the booth really makes it that much better 2 pack can vary huge in price from cheap to expensive depending on quality the paint on my zed is now $150 litre last time i asked where the two pack i got for the rally car was $40 litre mick

toyota engine compatability
hi if you get back issues of zoom magazine (few years back now would have issues at home if you cant find it ) they did a build up on a 240z with toyota 6 cyl turbo build over a number of issues covered most of the problems was a nice fit went well there main reason was the cost of the nissan rb26 or rb25 motors compared to the dirt cheap toyota supra motors have seen since car was bought by a member here and shipped to england Mick

Forgive me father for I have sinned.
well im 38 but if any one asks i go to say im 21 before reality hits in paint any colour you like i quiet like yellow on a zed can look great but one thing i do say its a bigger job to do a total colour change than re spray inside doors hatch engine bay and so on Mick

Front End Rebuff
i like the look myself think it makes a very aggressive look have depends on spoiler too my current one would work as the grille fills between bonnet and spoiler but some dont Mick

C210 engine conversion need help
if your on a budget the last thing you want to do is start a major conversion estimates given to me for rb25 or rb26 conversions are $10000 min would suggest for fun value why not through a set of 240z su carbs on it decent exhaust wont be the quickist but will still be lots of fun if you really want to do a conversion i think the na rb30 is a great way to start Mick

How do you like the front of your Z?
hi well im one of those bad people who are happy to modify i luv my zed and really like improving it to me it really is a a poor mans porsche or ferrai know ill never get one of them so im happy with my zed that can perform like one I drove my zed std and hated the lift in the front of speed have had three spoilers since and they make it so much more stable at speed and i think look better For me the ulimate look is a zg noze with spoiler under it will get one one day Mick

How long can a rotary last at 9k rpm?
yeah fill us in have very slow connection would luv to know how long it lasted and what happened one question though is they must have limited throttle as i know with my rotarys 9000 is way easy know mine have seen over 10000 on a number of times never held one past that (and that was not really planned just heat of the moment chasing times on a stage) but at 10000 they still want to keep revving faster Mick

nooB to Nissan, need info on V8 swap
i just have to ask yet again when does a zed stop being a zed for me its born that way its always a zed i mean lets count hands up now how many owners here have a zed with no modifications and midifications to me includes mags aftermarket steering wheels any aftermarket device stereo maybe we can run a pole To me a zeds a zed whether its running a 6 cy 4 cy turbo v8 rotary i just luv to hear about any one tinkering with a zed and how it changed it back to the subject decide what you want to use the car for then decide what power you need if your going v8 use the jags that run book its the bible for v8 converisions to me the v8 is a good in it gives you more power same balance when set up properly has heaps of power increase if you want to go that way Mick

Rally 240z vs 1600 (510)
if your talking sealed road rallies targa adeliade classic rally tas id go with the zed i much prefer to run mine on sealed roads any will always grab the zed if its sealed and i can run it some events just dont like a v8 in zed Mick

Rally 240z vs 1600 (510)
in production classes where modifications are limited the zed is the better car and they do look so much better sideways The 1600 are a great car for under 2ltr classes but over that the zed is better now as you cant modify the 1600 like you could before in the group g days Remeber when they brought group a rally cars in every one was changing to zeds said it was just like driving a 1600 only sitting in the back seat Need to check what rallys run in your area to find out which class you would have competition to me if you have a straight zed dont put it near gravel The reason i rally my rx4 is there cheap to relpace gravel and rallying are very hard on the car and parts just like sandblasting with rocks Would hate the repair bill while learning to rally in a zed imagine afew bonnets and front guards In 4 years rallying the rx4 and not that many events my two different navigators have had drives and written car off currently on third shell have used up at least 2 front guards myself and spoiler all fun but at least the rx4 shells we get for $50 Would think the 1600 would be my choice if i was starting out again or maybe buy a car already decked out maybe a later f2 under 1600 style car probaly cheaper than building a new car from scratch my 10c worth Mick

Toyota 4 pots brakes S12
i ran the solid calipers for some time was getting better pad material bonded to the old backing plates have sinced moved to the vented calipers but find it quite easy to ring the local speed shop quote backing plate model 9found the largest pad area for these was land cruiser pad that still fitted in caliper) and they can get most any material made up quite reasonable price have been using a ferodo material lately good results for track and road Should be able to get seal kit from toyota i did for old calipers You wont believe the differnce between vented and std its huge Mick

Targa Tasmania
targa has been run and won drum roll please a damn wrx finally did it bet the porsches home second was a guy from my home town in nissan gtr r34 would have won if not for a faulty fuel reg was running rough for 1 and half days till they found it after changing all the electrics first of the zeds copland was the best in 3rd place in the classic section bet home by 45 sec by a rs2000 and a 911 porsche in second of the rest of the 240/260 and 280 they place in the classic section 6,10,13,22,26,48,61 may have missed some not bad in a field of 123 in the classic section they had mostly fine weather though in fine tasmanian style we did test them with a day and half of rain as well as 20 km of snow that slowed the 2wd porsches down Till next year (or the new burnie tarmac rally in june) Mick

Time for a new meaningless poll...
in my last house which i built i had a double point in every wall and every 2 meters in the shed Being and electrician by trade made it a bit easier not happy with the new house most rooms only have one in one wall shed was even worse one double for the shed but at least my new shed has one every 3 meters much happier Mick
