dual exhuast?
I luv the rotary for a play car its great parts are cheap have had current motor running for 4 years without a problem ( though have had 2 clutchs in that 4000 km) its pumping out 300 hp as you suggest i miss the grunt of the v8 but you just have to get used to revving the $^!# out of it With the j port it just idles along under 3000 rpm then goes flat till 4000 rpm after that it goes like rocket making power all the way to 8500 with the v8 you can drop revs and still grunt out of the corners but with the rotary you have to keep those revs above 4500 all the time and be ready to change quick Must say at the local track Symons plains im all over the v8s though corners then half way down the back straight there torque kicks in and they pull away (need lower diff ratio that will fix it) Luv reving the rotary and pissing people off with its noise but the v8 great to cruise Mick

has anyone had problems fitting new door rubber seals on their 240z's?
i bought some universal dor seal rubber and found it too tight to shut doors it was the one recomended for a 240z ended up buying the next size down in the range and putting the wide seal at the top for the glass area to seal on and the smaller rubber on the bottom so the door shut firmly but not too tight has worked good you dont need to buy special rubber for this as it is a common rubber door seal used on heaps of cars should be able to go to rubber specialist and get a size similiar to the orginal Mick

dual exhuast?
from what i have been told the 2.25 is as good as you need for a std to mild motor i know i ran one on mine with a 260 motor it went really well had HM extractors then center muffler and rear muffler but it was loud 95.8 db sounded great when i was young and stupid no need for a stereo Have since sold extractors to a guy who has them in a 260 with 2.25 system and it sounds good (think his mufflers are much better than the straight through ones i was running) its quite with a nice throaty growl when you accelerate. Must say i was suprise by how quite my v8 was straight out of the extractors just run twin 2" off that to single muffler it quiter than any 6 but yiou know its an 8 Mick

Racing Harness (Seatbelts)
george you want to check the date on the harness as with cams new rules they only have specified life some 2 years some 3 years and others 5 years so you need to make sure there as new as possible if you plan on competing at any time this date crap is a real pain in the butt at the moment Know guys who had harness used fro targa once a year and had to upgrade them because they where 3 years old. good idea to check the cams manual for mounting points though the bottom should be ok just using old seat belt mount. its the back ones that are thre problem Mick

The Fast and The Furious
who needs spark plugs in the exhaust for flames my Rx4 13b jport motor will shoot 3 ft flames out the exhaust all you need is to rev it to 9400 rpm then back off real quick warms everyone up at the khanacrosses. The fast and furious movies are fun i reckon just worry about these kids and the fact you just buy the parts to go faster take all the modifing and fun out of cars i reckon. Mick

remove undercoating
are brings back memories or is that nightmares listening to you too chat about this wonderful process so glad its not me again spent way too long stripping all from my car then ended up spraying new stuff back on and coated it with 2 pack black Mick
-
Black... or gold?
i would go with the gold think the black would be too overpowering on the white car and black flares Mick

Acrylic lacquer or 2 pack
having used both i prefer to work with 2 pack paint as for your comment about needing to repair whole panel if damaged i think you will find this necessary with acrylic too as it is the only real way to do it properly though if using 2 pack with clear it is necessary and most 2 packs do require clear these days but the main differences i see are 2 pack plus shine straight off gun Using 2 pack primer any repairs are very stable stronger harder paint less likely to scratch or chip Negative orange peel effect in paint not flat Acrylic plus flat shine negative primer and rpairs under surface are unstable and when you paint may move due to the solvent in the paint lot of work rubbing back and getting that killer shine easier to scratch and chip Would have to say for an everyday car i would go with 2 pack but a show car would take my time and use acrylic very slow process acrylic to get that smooth killer shine so theres more twenty cents worth
