Wheel Size Question...
my experience my car is 70 model but you wont get 16 X 8 under a 240 with out modifing struts or flares i would say 16 x 7 with 225 wide tyres probaly even 235 if they make them in 16 i know my 245 on 15 just rubbed with the inner rear lips cut off Mick

Wheel Size Question...
its not the diameter that will really bring in new costs its the width that will make the need for flares or coil overs its not till you go over 7" wide that you need to look at flares or coil overs I actually used the jag that run idea and raise rear spring perches to get my 15 x 8 under the back instead of coil overs I am running 15 x 7 all round on my car with 225 50 tyres orginally was running 15 x 8 on back with 245 50 tyres but cant get the 245 50 tyres anymore Mick

Ford 9" Rear End
Why not look at another independent rear diff re Jag or even the holden commodore diff out of a Vt would have to easier than going the ford 9" way But how much power you talking about putting through the r200 are one strong diff Ive been running a r180 lsd behind a v8 for years without a problem And theres so hi hp 300zx and 200sx running r200 diffs Mick

Falken Tyres
havent tried the falkens have used the Yokohamas aoo8rs and bridgestone re540 found the bridgestone fantastic compared to the yokos Big improvement over normal performance tyres really get your skils up on track or stages these two are road street legal race tyres mainly for targa and road rallies Have been told good things about the silverstone race rubber Alan stean at the Z car wqorkshop in Qld is agent for them told they are much cheaper about $200 each and work well Mick

Besides the Zcar, what are your favorite cars?
My dream is to build a Club man with WRX drivetrain and mazda 20b rotary engine it would have to be the ultimate motorkhana go to whoa and club car would have more up to date body than the traditional club man But the zed will never leave that would be like cutting one of my nuts off Mick

Nissan V8 anybody? 83 Nissan President
already got one in mine great motor Mick
-
Nissan 4.5 lt V8
The motor suggested is the nissan VH 4.5 lr twin cam from the late model infiniti's Ben i reckon any 350 chev or even better a gen III motor would be a fantastic conversion for a zed you get great power to weight low stressed motor easy fit not turbo timers to muck around with But a late model nissan V8 would be so much sweeter I mean even nissan is catching on the new GTR will be V8 powered Mick
-
Nissan 4.5 lt V8
ben are you refering to my car my engine is the older 4.4 ltr motor from a nissan president mine is the early version with copy 4 barrell holley carb no injection I am looking at the latter 4.5 twim cam motor at the moment for a upgrade on my car but at the moment need to build my new shed first then sell one of the rotaries and ill be into an engine upgrade A V8 is so sweet and one with nissan written on it is even better Should i wait for the new GTR V8 that would be an awsome motor im sure Mick

Ack! Brake Fluid Everywhere!
sounds like you need to rebuild or replace your master cylinder and clutch cylinder if they where stuck sure suggests they will have rust and crap inside them you might get away with pulling them apart and cleaning out the bore not a big job once there out of the car think you will be ok with the brake fluid if you cleaned it off straight away only really a problem when you leave it on paint work for a while it has to eat in Could be worse had to respray my engine bay 6 months after 2 year rebuild battery over charged and sprayed battery acid all over the engine bay not happy Your car sure looks sweet top shade of blue keep up the good work Mick

R200 LSd Q's

electric fuel pump?
i used a carter electric pump by it self first it was fine only pumps 5 ps1 suits normal carbies with out a regulator Now use a Holley blue pump but that one needs a regulator In the jags that run conversion book they go into using a oil pressure switch to activate power to electric fuel pump so that it only has power when the motor has oil pressure. Wider steel wheels, for the "sleeper" effect.
could always get your existing rims widened did that on an 1600 once they went from 5" to 8" by 13" looked real trick Mick

240z or 260z AU
gavin the type of straightening i was talking about was getting the front end back into square after an accident so the car handles ok Locking it on a jig then pulling the rails back into line As for making chasis rails neat again i made a cover for mine from light steel sheet and welded it over the existing rails bit extra strength (the rails where rust free just looked like the car had been lifted by a fork lift a few times) could do this while car complete but would be easier with car on side or with motor and box out Mick
-
2.25" or 2.5"?
with a mild 260 motor i would go with the 2.25 thats what i ran on my 260 motor and it went real sweet sounded great too Mick

240z or 260z AU
steve my car was black interior 5 speed from the factory and that beautiful orange red colour datsun so luved will find the plates over the weekend had them last time i changed rego Mick
-
240z or 260z AU
steve my cars a 7/70 chasis 640 have to try and find the plates again so i can get you the other numbers might help for your research As for the frame rails being out not a big job to put a car on a jig and pull it back into line had to do the rally car it was 1" to short in the length one side and 2" out the other way was handling like real pig only cost $150 to get it straigthen that is till the navigator had a drive and wrote it off Mick

T5 conversion wiring
two wires out of the datsun box are for reverse light check your t5 box put a multimeter on two wires should have no circuit when in other gears and should show a circuit when you put it into reverse then just connect your car wires to these two dosent matter which way they go Mick

thoughts on my new idea :)
the picture of the mustang looks more like candy apple red to me it was huge back in the 70s and 80s had to paint the car with silver or other metalic then paint the candy over the top look so good but car had to be super straight showed any dents like dogs balls cant say ive seen the chameleon paint in a red the two ive seen are the bronze purple and a silver green really liked the silver green I agree with a comment earlier though think this paint is better for highlighting rather than full car.
