Here's a link to the fasteners themselves: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.com%3A80%2F220016099148_W0QQfromZR40QQfviZ1&rd=1&item=220016099148
  2. Post your symptoms and we'll try to help
  3. At near 60 (57) you know I've got to love that statement! ROFL
  4. It's not Prox. It's PirOSan. That's what got me going about the single key. Proxlamus has a 280.
  5. Two seperate key patterns for what? You say that one key operates the ignition, doors and trunk and the other only operates the door and trunk. Sounds like your keys are seperate patterns but your car shouldn't be. If you are not worried about your 2 keys then that's fine. But don't cloud the thread with information that is not relevant to the problem being discussed.
  6. 4000 higher or lower? My 78 is about 4200 lower than yours and it has aftermarket air. And it works fine. Someone wronlgy contended that factory air lasts longer than non factory air eariler in this thread. Maintainence is the key for any type of ac system. And as far as what was standard or dealer installed in 78, these scans are from the 78 sales brochure. According to it, ac was factory installed on all 2+2's and dealer installed on two seaters.
  7. They are a bigger job to maintain plus I didn't like the way they looked on either of my cars but I think they look great on his because of the color of his car. In fact, the way yours were done would look good on my car and are similar in finish to what I did with the 280Z wheels in my avitar.
  8. That may have been one of the convesions that was done back then before the factory began installing them. I remember seeing one at a dealership in Pomona, Ca.
  9. What really scares me is the fact that it make sense to me.
  10. Have you ever seen the ones I polished? Lots of work involved but they came out nice. They were more or less an experiment. I had them on my cars, first the 810 then the Z but eventually sold them to PrOxLaMuS. I don't think he'll mind if I use his recent picture.
  11. I think those are still available from Nissan. 40343-P7100
  12. I thought it had already been established that it is a non factory turbo setup. Did you look for the VIN that's embossed in the firewall? Or the one on the dash? Besides, what would be the point of changing the VIN tag? Especially to a non-turbo VIN tag?
  13. One key works everything on my 280. Sounds like the one that doesn't work in the ignition is a bad copy. A locksmith could probably clean up that one so that it would also work on everything.
  14. He's feeling your paranoia (post #5)
  15. Thank you, E! You see, I have promised that I wouldn't post that way but it's good to see someone else do it. So much bad information is given out here at Classiczx, er Classiccarsz.com.

No problem, I was just being facetious:classic:

I hope you're getting an OEM fuel pump and not that thing that Autozone or Checker/Schucks/Kragen/Parts America sells. (The Master E8312) It's junk!
  18. Is it factory or 'dealer installed' a/c? It wasn't really rare. Some came from the factory with a/c installed and some had it installed later. You can genrally tell by the type of hoses although there are other differences. Factory air will have hoses with crimped end fittings and the non factory will have the hoses with barbs and clamps. Also the factory air will have a fast idle control device. I'm actually more partial to the non factory system that is in my 78. Easier to work on, no vaccum controls etc. As far as worth, well it's nothing special either way and I don't have any trouble finding the parts for either system but then, I'm a liscensed tech. The non factory system in my 78 280Z and the factory system in my 79 810 both work fine. So I guess, like anything Z, it all depends on who you talk to.
  19. Little different situation here. I'm not knocking your choice I'm just saying what mine would be. The 810 is the 49th car I've owned, not counting the wife's cars. She doesn't even drive my cars.

No offense but that kind of sounds like the wording in an eBay ad. I'll still pass on the info to my friend.
  21. That would be entirely up to you. They're different cars. I wouldn't mind having one and I almost bought one in 2001 when my 78 got stolen. But I wouldn't give up my Z to buy one though, in my case the choice was out of my hands. Fortunately, my Z was found, not too badly vandanized, and now it's better than ever. I'd own both if the deal was right but I wouldn't sell one to get the other. JMO

Amazing! Virtually identical to the car we recently sold. Down the the color and mileage. It was my wifes car. She has a new Chevy HHR. I'd rather have the Infiniti.

I notice an Infinti J30 in the driveway (if that's your driveway). We had one of those for about three years and sold it to our neighbor in June. Great car. Ours was very dependable. But back to the Z. I have some interested in the 73 and I'll pass the info on to him if that's okay with you.

Under the two white plastic covers, attached to the relay box located between the battery and the strut tower.
  25. Still, it's normal. You should also notice vaccum when you remove the oil cap from the valve cover. All ties of the PCV/EGR system. Look at both attachments depending upon which one applies to your car.
