  1. Yeah since the other end of that hose ultimately connects to the throttle body.

Six years? That will crud up the gas tank. Mine had been sitting for 4 years when I bought it and I had to replace the tank before it would run properly.

I've not experinced that problem but maybe these two scans will help. I'd look at those fuses and fusible links first.

I just noticed that this is a fairly old thread that you have revived. The author of this thread hasn't answered since last October. Maybe he fixed it.
  5. Have you checked the fuel pressure while the car is in the hard start/no start condition? Are you using an OEM fuel pump or and aftermarket replacement?
  6. That all makes sense since every 78 I've ever seen had the same setup as mine. I was just curious as to when the change took place or if the ones with hoses had been modified to make the rail easier to remover or whatever. Both questions have been answered.
  7. Does it take a long time to start when it's warm or not start at all when it's warm? Have you checked the fuel pressure while it's exibiting this condition? The answers to these questions would lead me in a direction of how I solved a similar problem on my 810.
  8. The rally hood would most likely clear those lights as you lift it open. As far as the mounting procedure of their vents I'd rather use 3M Automotive Acrylic Mounting Tape than trusting short sheet metal screws in urethane. But I'll just keep my original hood vents, thank you.
  9. Nope, my 78 is also stock. I put that Turbo valve cover on it. The previous owner bought the car new and I got it from him w/58k miles. He was not the mechanically inclned type.
  10. I was just attempting to verify that 77 is different from 78.

Yeah, I figured that your problem was vacuum oriented. Either the actuators themselves, or the lines. Went through that with my 810. The one thing I do like about the aftermarket air on my 78 280Z is that all you have to do is move levers to open and close vents and vavles. No vacuum involved.
  12. Especially keep the small stuff like cold start valves, thermotime swithches, relays, door lock clips, etc. They're easy to test for functionality and getting harder to find.
  13. Wow, the fuel rail on my 78 280Z, and on my 79 810 are nothing like that. No rubber hoses and clamps on mine except where it connects to the injectors and the fpr. Has yours been modified?

    Ignition relay?
  15. sblake01 replied to rcperez123's post in a topic in Help Me !!
    Check your ignition relay.
  16. Whatever you say, If you will recall, this thread was about oem hood vents. DZR asked about one, he got one. I don't know what you are talking about but I'm okay with that since this is niether the first time that has happened nor, I'm sure, will it be the last. I'm done here.
  17. First, you quote my post but edit the link. Then you go back to your original post and edit in the link that I posted!!!??? Then you answer with this rambling, unintelligible statement. WHAT'S YOUR POINT?
  18. Actually, I had a spare, which I sold you and a backup for each side on mine. But those aren't for sale.

I guess the question is really should 'you' put the chain on. I don't have a problem with mine as it is. It's up to you.
  20. Mine was complete and basically running when I bought it. Other than paint, tune up type stuff, and finding a couple of parts, the worst problem I had with my Z was bad a/c hoses. Being an MVAC tech and having my own hose crimper, that really wasn't much of a problem.
  21. I guess he means these ugly things because those are the only hood vents they list: http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/7BSA03/30-7090
  22. But they would actually be 15" 200S since they only used the Libre name on the four spoke.
  23. He's already solved it. On a 83 or any Z with factory air and/or power steering which rules out anything prior to 1979, you could also get a squeal from one of the idler pulley/belt tensioners. The viscous clutch is on basically all Z's (originally)and most other cars as well. Replacing the fluid can be done but it's easier to just replace the fan clutch. I've done it both ways with mixed results as I don't think the fluid (oil) you can buy now days is the same as what Nissan used. That procedure has been discussed a few times on this site.
  24. Why? They'll still fit your 260. And the "Libra" (might even be "Libre"-not sure of the spelling) was made by American Racing Equipment. The Shelby is more or less a cheaper copy. I had Libras on my 510.
