  1. Kind of tough to do a traditional trouble shoot with those items disconnected/disabled but it sounds like you have either a bad connection at your temperature sensor or the temp sensor is bad. It's function is to richen the mixture during warm up and normalize the mixture a operating temp.
  2. I noticed that Jackboxx listed his 'previouly enjoyed' cars. I'd list all of the cars that I/we have ever owned. The 810 is my 49th! That doesn't count my wife's cars. But I have slowed way down on that in the last ten years or so.
  3. From the 1978 280Z FSM, though i've never actually measured, it's sort of a feel thing. One other thing, I have found that aftermarket components, like alternators/water pumps from Kragen, Autozone etc. have a tendency to be noisy and that's anothter area where I only use OEM when available.
  4. And the hot rod 320 which most of you have seen.
  5. My daily driver, the 810 coupe, and my wife, Daisey's HHR which I guess is an acquired taste but I'm getting used to it.
  6. You did say 'just about anybody'. Try this guy. I like the quality of his decals and stickers plus he sell the paint code stickers with the code already on it. But neither of them sell window stickers. http://www.zeddsaver.com/
  7. None of that disprooves what I said which was 'not in this lifetime'. Sure I'd love to see Z's go for $50K. But at that point, COPO cars will be going for $300K.

I think the head gasket problem has been solved in the last 34 years. People are running more boost than they did back in 72 not having that problem.
  9. I'll venture a guess. Datsuns from Trinidad?:stupid:
  10. That won't happen in this lifetime. The collector car market-at-large just doesn't recognize the Japanese cars and their position in automotive history and thus doesn't place the value on them like muscle cars or vintage European and American cars.

Good call, monkeyman! I had that happen on a 66 Chevy Nova about 25 years ago and had forgotten all about it until you mentioned it. If I recall correctly on a ZX, the bottom two sockets on each light assembly would be where to look.
  12. Too much mixing and matching of parts. It's hard to say what kind of a look he was going for. The doors don't appear to fit well, mirror bases are still on the doors, that '240Z' side stripe doesn't blend well with the other mods, and the rust that he mentions. Not a $12K car IMO. Sure, by his description he has invested a lot of money in parts and work but as we all know, the sum of the parts does not equal the total when it comes to putting a price on a car.
  13. I'm happy that you find it interesting. Like I said, I saw it a couple of years ago and didn't think it was really of much use considering that there is better and more applicable info available IMO.

About a year or so ago, at my friend's shop in Upland, Ca., there was a wrecked 75 or 76 280Z with the 280Z kit in the attachment. I remember discussing it with him. It was complete but the turbo itself was siezed up.

Beware of that seller, however. I've had a bad experience with him and I know of others who have also. It is because of him that I no longer will deal with a seller with a hidden feedback profile. Those of us who have, have some inkling of what he's hiding.

Yeah, those wheels look pretty basic to me. And he should have to pay the new owner to take that Haynes manual!
  17. And actually, though I've seen 'el prince' used to mean the prince, I believe that 'el principe' would actually be correct. (in Spanish, Italian, and Portugese anyway)

The manifold I have on the J16 in my 320 Pickup was designed for an MGB but mine is a single 40DCOE side draft with 26mm chokes.

If it's an 84 200SX tranny I doubt that it would work properly in a Z because it would be slanted to match the 84 200SX engine. If it is a 200SX tranny then it's probably the 'dogleg' type that was in the 77-79 200SX and the 77-80 510 (A10). I have that tranny in my 64 L320. I don't know how good it would be for a Z since it was designed for a L18-L20B 4 cylinder. And the shift pattern would be 'unique' when compared to a Z-ZX 5 speed.

The inner one appears to be on manifold designed for a MGB which, ironically, will fit an E1 or J series Datsun 4 cylinder. The two outer ones and their manifolds, as Arne said, appear to be for a Z. I don't think there is a manifold anywhere that would allow you to put three of those on a Z. Unless it was custom made. IMO, leave them all wherever they are.
  21. He's giving it up for a 280Z:love:

Or, if you're brave enough, diluted muriatic acid will remove the coatings. That's what I use but don't let it sit on the metal too long.
  23. Cool, just making sure.
  24. "Correct hoses"....well we've discussed those before. If you're meaning the braided hoses, unless you're going to show you're car, I would keep the more than likely more modern hoses on it. You'll pay a fortune for 'correct' hoses and remember, if they are original and new, they've still been sitting around for 30+ years somewhere. I wouldn't trust them on a car I plan to drive on a regular basis. I even replaced the hoses on my a/c on both cars since the materials used in hose production now days is far superior to what was used back then.

I get more response from the classic car guys when I'm in my 810 or my truck than I do in the Z. Tomohawk, I've never gotten the 'nice ZX' comment. Maybe it's your wheels.
