So your girls are 'Minnesota Twins' then. But seriously, how are you getting the two Zs out here?

Nis-san or Knee-san
Being a black American of South American descent (both parents from Guyana, once known as British Guiana), born in Portland, Oregon, raised and still living in Southern Calfornia, I would probably be the last one to know which pronunciation is 'correct'! But I have always said "Dot-suhn" since that's the way I heard it in commercials as a teenager. As far as Nissan, well it doesn't matter to me how that's pronounced. I'm a Datsun fan. With Nissan's rather vague and ever thinning connection to Datsun, they might as well be Ford or Toyota, etc.

moving!!!!
We have quite a few members in the San Diego area and is SoCal in general. As far as activities that are Datsun/Z oriented, we have the Japanese Classic Car Show in Long Beach (Sept. 30), the UFO Swap Meet at Nissan Headquarters in Gardena every couple of months, the Mossy Nissan Show in Oceanside, UFO/Group Z BBQ at Dana Point, just to name a few. You'll love it out here. No putting the car away for the winter although it did snow for a half hour or so here in San Bernardino last Saturday but I live at roughly 2000ft.

Tool bin liners or 280Z
I don't know about the 75-76 but there would have been no need for them on a 77-78 with the raised deck.

Building just for function?
Functionality is important to me more so than the looks. That being said I did pick mine up for $275 in 1997 with very minimal surface rust, no dents, and needing a little mechanical attention. I've strived towards making it mechanically sound with all systems working and to be a basiaclly stock vehicle with period type mods. I did have it painted the original color and replace a few missing or damaged cosmetic pieces. It runs great and is very nice and presentable. I take it to car shows just because I like car shows. I don't have any expectation of winning since there are many very presentable Zs out there. But there are also some awesome ones.

Would love to help and I was actually born in Portland but that was many years and miles ago.

Fuel injector Prob. 77 280z
That is the check valve. You tested it and it's good. What you described is what it's supposed to do.

Fuel injector Prob. 77 280z
The pump was working. You should have checked the other two things I mentioned before messing with it. Sorry but I only say that because I once replaced the pump on my Z only to find out that the real problem was the pressure regulator. As far as priming, well those pumps are self-priming so there has to be some other issue inside the pump or the check valve.

That's the 280ZX turbo motor.

Original stripe size
That's 'Graphic Express' which is the same link Craig posted earlier. I am familiar with them and have bought merchandise from them in the past. You threw me and apparently montoya fan01 also by refering to it as 'Graphic Design'.

Not Grounded
Actually sounds like back to back sales plugs. Tomohawk, do you own DeOxit stock or what?

The Beast Lives!!!
Need more info. Did you run a fuel pressure test while it was running? If not, I don't see how your brother could come to that conclusion.

Fuel injector Prob. 77 280z
Don't trash that fuel pump just yet. Check your fuel pressure regulator as per the FSM as well as the fuel damper. A bad fuel damper can cause that fluctuation and a bad fuel pump regulator can cause that low reading. It should be a steady 36.3 psi. If you have a 78 FSM, check out page EF-37.

Snow in So Cal 3/11/06
This is what we woke up to this morning. My sister who has live up here since 1997 say that it only snows once every couple of years here.

Old Series I Valve Cover
I don't know but I've seen them fetch some pretty high prices. I have one here that I bought from the junkyard for 8 bucks about 10 years ago. (not for sale) I think the one that says "NISSAN" in block letters is even rarer at least in the US. That one on eBay is actually a little 'over restored'.

my 240 k State of Kuwait " nice car "
LHD 240K's in Kuwait! I wonder how hard it would be to get one of those into the US. Couldn't be more costly than bringing one in form Japan, could it? I arealdy have a 'MPH' speedometer that will fit one.

What is the most important quality you want in a Z?
Nothing on that list really fits my situation. My car is basically original w/period mods like spoiler, air dam, window louver, bra, mirrors, etc. And a decent stereo/cd system. Everything on it is fully functional as intended by Nissan. Massively fast? No. I've owned a Hemi, Cobra Jet, 396 and 427 Chevy powered cars. So that is relative. Handling? Well it handles like it was intended to. As for the rest of the catagories, well, most of that stuff is fine for others and I enjoy looking at all of the things that are done to Z cars and cars in general, but I'm happy with mine just like it is.

Fuel injector Prob. 77 280z
The water temp sensor basically takes over control of the air fuel mixture after the cold start circuit as the engine warms up. If you have a pressure guage, hook it up between the fuel filter and the fuel rail and see if the pressure fluctuates when the problem occurs.

Fuel injector Prob. 77 280z
Have you checked the connections at all of the sensors/switches/valves? You may have mentioned that earlier in this thread but that is crucial to everything working right. You mean 'thermotime switch' and 'temperature sensor'. If the car starts quickly and runs good with a faster than normal idle when cold, the your cold start valve, thermotime switch, air regulator, are all functioning properly. The temperature sensor doesn't kick in until the engine is approaching operating temperature. I would check the connection there as well as the operation of that sensor. It should have continuity from about 125 degrees up.

HELP Me find parts "1979 280zx"
Sunroof wasn't an available factory option on a 79 ZX according to my 79 full line brochure. I believe that started in 1980 but is was a metal, electric sliding sunroof. I see many ZX's in the junkyard but I'm in So Cal so that doesn't really help you.

Fuel injector Prob. 77 280z
The sound seems to vary from pump to pump. The one on my Z is very quiet and the one on my 810 can be heard but it's not really what you'd call loud. But I have sound louder on other Zs. Do you have a pressure guage? If so, hook it up and watch the fuel pressure while it's idling. Should be about 37 psi. Also, it should hold when you turn the engine off rather than dropping. If it drops, it could be the check valve, the fuel pressure regulator, the fuel pump relay etc. Any of those could cause the problem you describe as well as the things your Sea Doo friends mention.

Fuel injector Prob. 77 280z
That one has me stumped. I've never been through that with either of my cars. I had a intermittently bad fuel injection relay on the Z once but it would die alltogether and wouldn't start again until I tapped on the relay or just let it sit for awhile.
