That's from Clymer's Datsun 810 1977-1980 service manual. It has a lot of nice charts and diagrams but when it comes down to information, I'll take the FSM over any of them.

I've never had that problem with my car either. It sometimes sits as much as a month without being started. Maybe that's a 240 issue. The digital clock just doesn't look right to me in a S30 dash. I also agree with TomoHawk as far as the prudence of using it as a lap timer.
  3. I've got turbo oil pumps in both of my cars. At the junkyards in most cases they take all the rest of the turbo stuff but leave the oil pump. That's where I got mine.

I don't know about the 75, but I know that the 76-78 had them. Go to the junkyard. Usually they are broken but I have managed to find them intact with hoses, bracket and all the hardware. If the 75 didn't have them, the 76-78 unit can be easily mounted and would look original.
  5. Are you talking about the freeze plugs? There are two. One between 5 & 6 and one between 1 & 2. about 3-4 inches or so below the head. As long as coolant isn't coming out of them from the inside you're okay. Maybe something spilled on it. But if you have any doubt about whether or not they are leaking from the inside, I'd replace them. A litttle messy, but not hard.

    Quote from the service manual:

I believe it should have three. I'll check that out when I'm on my other computer. It has all of my fuel injection stuff. EDIT here's the attachment:

According to my 78 owners manual every 30000 miles or 24 months which is the same interval they give for the carbon cannister filter.

The three hose connections are distributor vaccum, purge, and tank. It just another part of the emissions control. The distributor V C hose gets a vacuum signal from the distributor, the purge hose goes to the intake manifold and the tank hose goes to a check valve and then to the liquid/vapor seperator (sometimes called expansion tank) in the right rear quarter panel. I don't know the mileage interval for changing the filter but if it looks good, I leave it, and if it's dirty I clean it and put it back in. The FSM says 30000 mi or 24 months.

You filled out something on the internet and gave them your credit card info? Not knowing anything about who they are or how they operate? Maybe this advice wil be useful because we have so many young 'members' but common sense could have saved you the hassle.
  11. Be careful removing the housing from the head.
  12. I cant speak for others here but the only time I would retorque the head bolts is after putting the head back on (for whatever reason-valve job, head gasket etc.). I would initially torque it, run it up to operating temperature, torque it again and forget about it until the next time the head needs to be removed.

    4 x 4.5" or 4 x114.3mm IIRC. The Honda wheels wont fit.
  14. Carl is doing the family thing as was I. During our family gathering, I left the book on the coffee table and virtually everyone that was here picked it up and scanned through it. It got the usual 'I remember those cars' or 'Uncle Donald had one of those' etc. (actually I remember his-it was a 82 ZX).
  15. Double post.

I'd also like to see it extend a little farther at least to the center of the grille.

Mine was quicker that usual also. Must not be as much internet traffic today as on a normal weekday morning.
  18. Where are located, C J? I also have a spare that I've kept as a backup since I have two vehicles that use them. I just don't trust used ones over the long haul. When they quit, you're stranded!

When I was offered DSL by the local phone company for the same price I was paying for dial-up, I jumped on it! It's not the fastest broadband that they offer but it's incredibly faster than what I had. Works for me!

And that 510 just couldn't keep up
