It that evidence of a little coolant leak where your radiator hose connects to the water neck?

Okay, okay, okay! I'll just settle for OLD!

    Is that typo on purpose?

I guess you haven't seen the 'Turbo Twins' video. They actually slowed the cars down with that setup. The general consesus on that setup is 'steer clear!'
  5. I had a set of those (actually 2) on my Pinto (!) years ago. They were decent carbs in that they worked well. The car started up fine, ran well, and the fuel mileage was decent. I have no first had knowlege of them on Datsun engines and I would think that you would have more trouble sourcing parts for them than you would with Webers or Mikunis.
  6. What is the affordability difference between being married and living together? I don't really want to sidetrack this thread but I don't get the comment.

Well, since that is the 'idle speed adjustment screw,' I would assume that no one should have to tell him that. 900-1200 rpm is actually a bit on the fast side.
  8. If it truly is a TT (Z32) and it runs, and not just another of those single turbo pos Z31s (that's my opinion) about $10-15K later, you might have something there. But, why bother?

Bill just doesn't appreciate the 'seldom seen' Datsuns. That car would be a big hit at the local Nissan/Datsun shows. Thanks for the pics.

Bill, that's an amazingly insightful statement comming from someone your age! :surprised
  11. It was also sold in the US and I'm sure in other markets as well. But the Z31 would have a VG30ET not a VG30DET. (Single cam w/distributor vs Dual cam distributor-less)

That's great. If I only knew what it says!
  13. Did you mean to say "no effect that I am aware of?" I only ask because that is how it is set up on my 78.

Welcome Dlorence! I see that you live in the state in which I was born. My family left there for SoCal the year you were born.

Well, I guess I'm one of the geezers! I was 27 soon to be 28 when my Z was born on 5/78. Hell, I bought a brand new 70 when I was 19 and a brand new 72 when I was 21!
  16. Victor Laury always takes a lot of pictures at the So Cal shows. I do also but it seems that by the time I get around to uploading mine, he's already done it.

I guess you could install the appropriate speedo gear but I never worried about it on mine. Mine seems to be off by more than that maybe 8-10% but I just make the mental adjustment.
  18. That's why I attend even after all of my complaining! :classic:

The 225 does bubble out a little on my car but my rims are the 260/280Z factory alloy which are 5.5" wide as opposed to 6". The come really close to the front struts but mine don't rub. I had 20560R14 Dunlop D60A2 tires on those 6 spokes when they were on my car. They were a nice fit both heigth wise and width wise and didn't bubble as much as my present setup. Remember, we're comparing a 72 to a 78. I don't know if that makes a difference clearance wise or not.
  20. The one that cnixzgo describes and links to is the 70-76. At Banzai Motorworks the DE-06 (70-76) is not shown and the DE-14 is the one that would be correct for a 78 at least that's what is on my 78Z (and on my 79 810).

I thought that the stock size on a 240Z was 175R14 which is roughly the same height as a 19570R14 which would make a 20570R14 a little to tall. I have 22560R14 Yokohama A509s on mine which I know are too tall and the speedo is off but they're also wide they don't rub and I like 'em.
  22. That was a warranty card that Datsun used to issue with their new cars I believe in the late 70s and 80s. My avitar is just a copy of one I found in the junkyard. It was for a guy in Chino, Ca. who owned a 77 280Z 2+2. I changed the text and put the info for me and my car on the copy. Here's what it said on the back:
  23. I asked for that, didn't I?
  24. Back in the day, before Z Therapy, we used to hone the openings and drive bushings that had the correct diameter for the butterfly shafts into the hole. Then if you ever needed to do the job again, all you had to do was replace the bushings. But, like I said, that was years ago and the shop where we would buy those correctly sized bushings from is long gone.
  25. LanceM, you beat me to it.
