What is this
I'm not sure why Nissan did that. It makes sense for the FICD magnet valve since it raises the idle when the AC is on but not for the other one.
-
What is this
Seemd to me that that would work though I never tried it. The vacuum source for the mode doors really doesn't need to be 'switched' like the one for the FICD, since the vacuum selector would 'tell' the vacuum what to do. I always thought the vacuum bottle was redundant siince you really only need the mode doors to operate when the engine is running.

New tires=empty wallet
They may think that but I haven't paid that little for a new tire for any vehicle I've owned in years.......

Weird Myths or Facts about your Z car
Back when I had my 70 or it could have been the 72, someone asked if it was a kit car.

Orville Redenbacher in my L28 - Please help
That's Chris's prerogative. Could be vacuum, could be fuel supply. The video really doesn't help (IMO) w/o knowing the fuel pressure/compression, etc.

What is this
You'd have problems with you heater since the other magnet valve controls the mode doors which direct the airflow in the various heat/defrost positions.

Flat top carbs. Myth, or.........
Some, probably most, of the rebuild guys will not even rebuild them.........
-
What is this
That is the 'fast idle actuator'. It draws vacuum from the F.I.C.D. magnet valve which appears to be missing on your car. Has your AC, or at least parts of the system, been removed? (Thanks to JeffG78 for the pic)

mustang vs any z
The 5.0 is nearly a full second quicker in the 1/4 mile than the 370Z Nismo. Don't know how they'd compare on a road course though. I've not run up against a 370Z yet that could out accelerate my 2005 GTO either.

Before I Port my Z I will prove it on a 4 cylinder first
He's been here off and on since 2005. I've read his stuff. He hasn't ever posted anything here that was anything beyond idiotic gibberish/ramblings. He's just an internet troll looking for responses. There is no way I would click on a link that leads to his website.

New and looking for a Z
That would be Eleanor. In fact, the the remake (Nicholas Cage version) all 50 cars on the list to be stolen had a name. I'd link to the list but I'm already off topic enough;) So back on topic. The reason I sold my Datsuns was because they weren't being driven enough and I live where you can drive them year round. I agree with Dave. DRIVE it! I wan't doing that so it was time to go in a different direction. The newer cars are better equipped to sit for long periods. (I do enjoy running mid-12 second 1/4 miles but that's a whole different story).

anyone got a spare ignition barrell/switch?
I would hope that the OP has already found what he was searching for. It's been almost a year and a half.......

mustang vs any z
Power to weight ratio does pretty much determine performance. The other things you mention? The new Mustang has your car beat in all of them. Cocky is one thing but in this case I'm afraid you will have to face reality.

mustang vs any z
I hope you're not talking about a 2011 Mustang GT. It would run away and hide from your ZX. It has 412 hp. My 2005 GTO is fairly modded and those new Mustangs still give me a tough time. And the Shelby GY500 will outrun me but with 540 hp, it should. Ford really outdid themselves this time.......

AC Duct Work Questions
When I was doing a lot of AC work a few years ago and needed that type of hose/ducting, I used to just go the the AC shop in Ontario, CA. He had it in several sizes.

Prince sport Coupe?
No, it isn't that on but it does show up on the site you linked as a 'Prince Sprint 1963 model'. Appears to be the same picture in deadflo's post. It's about 19 cars down the page. http://www.earlydatsun.com/prince.html From the Early Datsun website:

Why do 240Z Owners So Often Put L28s in their cars?
BRE also used E88 heads in their race cars. When I was a kid in my early 20s, my brother and I went to the shop in El Segundo a few times. I remember seeing a couple of their race heads. They were things of beauty!!

AC elimination
That's pretty much what the tank is for. It stores vacuum to help keep the vacuum supply constant during the different engine speeds and loads. I'm not sure that the mode door actuator would work properly with constant vacuum since the magnet valve opens and closes based on the selector position.
-
AC elimination
From what I recall (I've been away from the Datsun AC systems for almost 2 years now) one of the magnet valves is for the FICD and the other is for the mode doors. If you don't plan to have the AC you can bypass the one for the FICD but you'll need the other one for heat, defrost, etc.
