Return of the Handbrake!!
I'm not disagreeing with the intent of the designer. I was simply looking at the way the cars were actually built. Nor am I taking the viewpoint of the "arrogant American" and stating in any way that I feel that these cars were built for the US. And, like Lachlan, I was not trying to again open up the debate about which country it was built for. And to Alan P., I fully agree with your last line. A large percentage of the greatest cars in the world were built outside of the US.

'76 fuel tank wanted
There are two 280Z tanks. 75-76 and 77-78. I learned that the hard way about seven years ago.

Z related questions(Australia).
Oh, I fully agree! My 510, which I used to race on ocaision, had aftermarket brakes front and rear. My racing days are behind me now and my Z is just a curiser so I guess I was looking at it from that point of view.

L28ET Upgrades
All of the options as stated so far are viable, I guess, but it would sure negate any real benefit of having a BPE. It's your car, do what you want. It's just that you've presented so many possibilities to us on this site in your 140 some odd posts about this car, that it's difficult for me to offer anything. I guess advice is worth what you pay for it. Good luck with whatever you decide and stick to.

Z related questions(Australia).
Where would you notice that 'difference?' In normal driving, I just can't see how they 'work much better.' Unless you're talking about cars used for racing.

Z related questions(Australia).
ZX front discs are smaller than Z front discs. They are designed to work with the ZX rear discs. That is why I don't understand converting the rear drums to ZX discs. Or putting the ZX discs on the front of a Z. Either way, you have a mismatch.

engine bucking help
The TVS also needs to be adjusted correctly and the contacts inside of it need to be clean. I believe that this is covered in the FSM

Return of the Handbrake!!
It could just mean that the positioning of the handbrake doesn't proove or disproove anything. On my 320 pickup it's on the left side of the driver's seat, on my J30 it's on the left side of the driver's footwell. Both would be quite a reach if the vehicles were RHD!. These cars were designed and built in Japan (exc the J30-designed there, built here) and I don't feel that the positioning of the handbrake gives any real clue as to which market it was intended for. In the case of those cars that had the handbrke on the far right of the vehicle, it would make sense to move it to the left for a LHD car but there would be no real reason to move it from one side of the console to the other.

corrrect placment of a fairladyz emblem on 260z
Mike W, that looks right. Even though there are no LHD Fairladys AFAIK. (I know it's already been said). I think putting the 'Fairlady Z' emblem on above the '260Z' emblem looks kind of well. . .dumb. JMO.

Total transplant : 280 migrate into a 260 shell?
Remember, a 260 is carbureated and a 280 is fuel injected. Fuel lines, fuel tank, wiring harness, ecu, relays & brackets, etc. must be transferred over to the 260 body if you are going to retain the 280 f.i.

electric blue and white stripes...sounds like a live show!
I always thought that the ZZap would have looked better without the side stripe.

Hub caps....$$$
This one wasn't perfect. '9.5 out of 10' as described by the seller and it went for $330???!!!

Nissan 35th Anniversay 350Z
That one and "I'd give my right arm to be ambidexterous." :classic: I also concur with the parenthesized part of your post. How can you have a 35th anniversary when five of those years are missing?

Lovely 1800sss on ebay: sorta Z-content
I guess the interest in this car diminished when they noticed the automatic trans question. Couple that with the revision about the year and one begins to wonder about the accuracy of the rest of the description.

Well now (5:36pm PST) the auction has ended early because of an error in the listing and every bid has been cancelled. Curiouser and curisouser

passenger side Datsun Dash-badge
Jason, don't get me wrong, and Tomo should have been a little easer on you, but you won't get much enthusiasm from this site for that sort of thing. Maybe a little more description would help because when you mentioned EL cable, I did envision led lights and Hondas and Acuras that I've seen going down the road all lit up.

Jacking the car up reeeeeeaaally high.
A buddy of mine has a floor jack designed to lift high ground clearance vehicles i.e. 4x4s with lift kits. It lifts much higher than any floor jack I've ever owned. And he also has the jackstands to match. I used that combo once. I jacked the car up and placed it on my 4 normal jackstands and then raised the rear with his jack to the heigth of the taller stands and then did the front. Much safer than trying to go from the ground to the tall stands.

Lovely 1800sss on ebay: sorta Z-content
I have actually seen this car. It was at last years Mossy Nissan Show in Oceanside CA. It was parked on the street and wasn't part of the show. I have some pictures of on my computer that I took that day. The pictures I have show a different grille and some funky decals on the rear panel which have been changed and removed. The car did appear to be very clean. It seems that plumprandy is the high bidder at $6600 now (1:47pm PST). Seems to me that he originally over bid, retracted that bid, and then came back in at the lower bid. Can one do that? Things like that make me leary about bidding on ebay especially when it comes to things in that price range. Speaking of price range, if everything stated in the ad IS true, what would be the value of a low numbered, low mileage, close to original Bluebird? Was the L18 even available in 1971?

plumprandy has retracted his bid because he couldn't get in contact with the seller. The high bid is $6500 as of 5:45am PST which is under the reserve. Interesting!

In with the 280ZX Coupe
That would be a 1984 50th anniversary edtion which is a Z31. I don't think anyone here or in Australia is really interested in that.

One of my trucks was rear ended by an 18 wheeler today
You're not the same guy who had a car lose control and run into a truck narrowly missing your Z a few months back, are you?

4,900 original miles
I hate terms like 'mint condition' or 'perfect interior' and as far as the 49000 original miles thing goes I'd like to see some compelling documentation for that mileage since these care have 5 digit odometers. IMO no 280 worth that asking price. I'm not knocking 280s, I own one. I just don't think their value has reached that point yet.
