Factory 260Z Mirror
This mirror was the factory mirror for the 260Z and 280Z in the U.S. It was only on the left side door. What is was wondering is was there ever a RHD equivalent on the 260Z in Austrailia. I think it would be cool to have a factory mirror on both sides. If so, and if anyone would be interested, maybe we could work out a trade, right side for left side.

At a glance, I thought it was a VG30.

240Z in Sunset Orange (350Z Colour)
I like the color. Frumpy! Great word, Vicky! I've been looking for a word to accurately describe the 350Z. I'd like to see a performance comparison test between these two. It wouldn't be any less fair than the ones I've seen in magazines so far.:classic:

What's a Steering Cooler?
After some checking in my service manuals, I notice that Datsun/Nissan didn't use a cooler in their power steering cars. 810's, ZX's, and early Maximas didn't have them. But, if Ford thought to put them in their cars, it might be better to have one since you are using a Ford unit.

What's a Steering Cooler?
Like they say, couldn't hurt. You could probably pick up the Mustang unit fairly cheap at the junkyard. I see the old 5.0's in the 'yards' all the time.

4 barrell on 70 240Z. Need input
I've really never heard anything good about this setup. The only one I actually seen belonged to a friend a few years back. As I recall, it was a jetting nightmare! He re-jetted that carb so many times and it still didn't run as good as the S.U.'s. The engine was designed for sidedraft carbs and the sharp turn the mixture has to make with a downdraft makes the efficiency suffer. And, by the way, my buddy finally installed a set of Z Therapy S.U.'s and he's been happy ever since. Mind you, that's just my very limited experience with the Clifford intake/Holley carb scenario.

vh45det powered 240z
Come on, guys! A VH45, why not a 426 Hemi, a 600+ cu. in. Chevy mountain motor. What's the difference? The only thing that comes to mind, for me, is HYBRID Z!

Calling On ALL Zers for Help!!
I'd also like to add that whether or not it is legitimate, I don't think this (a car enthusiast site) is the place for it. It's as annoying a those unsolicited phone calls about lower mortgage rates, satelite tv, etc.

What's a Steering Cooler?
Vicky, I understand his comment but maybe he should have brought us back up to speed concerning the conversion at the beginning of this thread. 280Z's do not have power steering but his has been converted or is in the process making this really kind of a 'hybrid' thing. I doubt that Tomohawk will find the knowlege he is seeking on this site.

Difference in the hoods
Bill, why would you set us up like that? Seriously, I always thought that the hoods were the same until 77-78 when they added the vents. Plus you say the old hood was 'full of rust' which would make it lighter than one that wasn't.

79' 280z
No problem, Michael29, the f.i. system on the 280Z and the 280ZX are quite similar in fact the f.i. system on my 810 is probably identical to you ZX. If I can help with a problem that is similar to ones I have encountered with my cars, I don't mind sharing the info. We do have a few members with stong anti ZX feelings but that doesn't represent all of us. I find that amusing considering how many people have ZX parts in their S30s. But Z31s, 32s, 33s are another story alltogether!

Datsun Alloy Rim
Thanks, Andrew, I'll drop him a line. But I bet it would be cost prohibitive to ship from the UK to California in the USA.

79' 280z
Usually, that happens when you have either a leaking cold start valve or a shorted open thermotime switch. Check the terminals on the thermotime switch for continuity when the car is warm. If it has contunuity it's bad and needs to be replaced. If it's good, then remove the two bolts that hold the cold start valve and lift it high enough to clear the intake manifold and place the nozzle in a small container. Again with the engine warm, start the car and check if you can see any fuel leaking into the container. If you do, replace the cold start valve.

check this out, 400+ hp...
Thank you, Chris! I'm so glad to hear someone else say that. I don't now, nor have I ever liked Panasports (or any of their clones) And it seems like you can't get into any kind of discussion about Zs without someone mentioning them.

Datsun Alloy Rim
I hate to invade this forum for this but it's just part of an ongoing search for a wheel that I've not been able to locate. Did this wheel ever show up on any of the Australian Datsuns?

Air Pump?
I try not to answer posts like this because there are so many possibilities. Is that belt binding on the frozen pulley? If so, that would make it hard to start. You're not even sure if it's the air pump. Sitting for six years? There are so many possible issues that could cause the car not to start. Sometimes, you can open up the air pump and free it up unless the bearings are toast. But, based on your description of the problem, it's like a doctor trying to diagnose over the phone with a patient that doesn't have an understanding of the symtoms.

280z with 350z headlights...
I'll simplify my honest opinion of a S30 with Z32 headlights by saying that it just isn't something we do here. If you'll read through some of the old posts you'll see that we are not really into modifications such as Ferrari kits, Pantera rear windows, convertibles, or anything that changes the basic look of the S30. That picture would be more welcomed on HydridZ, Zdriver, ZCar.com or any of the other sites that lean more towads the later model "Z".

Hissing and sticking brakes - bad Booster?
If you have access to a vacuum pump, connect it to the inlet on the booster and see if it holds. If it doesn't it's bad.

Datsun 810 Alloy Rim
I'm looking for a set of these for my 810. I had ordered a set from a site on the internet but they turned out to be the wrong ones. The correct ones will have the Nissan part number shown in the picture on them. I don't need the center caps, just the rims. If you have any info on these PM me or email me at sblake01@netzero.com.
