Try this site as Autofrost is one of the alternatives my friend mentioned. I don't know about its availability in Australia. http://www.refrigerantsales.com
  2. I'm going to try to make it especially since I had to miss MSA.

Remember, the car is described as 'near original' not restored. It's a very nice car. We could 'nit-pick' it but I just don't see the point. It's closer to original than mine, and probably yours and most others on this site.

A former nieghbor of mine who is a heating and air conditioning specialist says that there are a couple of alternative replcements for R12 that only require changing installing adapters on the high and low side valves, removal of the R12 and recharging with the new refrigerant. I believe it's called Freeze12. He says it actually runs 3 to 5 degrees cooler than R12 and doesn't require retrofitting of any ac parts other than the above mentioned adapters. Also, since it's compatible with the R12 lubricants, the system won't have to be flushed after the removal of the R12. It costs much less than R12 and is legal in the US. I have no idea if its available in Australia.
  5. Mike, could you post some pictures of the car? What kind of shape is it in? Does it have the mirrors, louvers, etc? I believe that part number in the attachment is for the stripe kit. I ran that number on the Nismo parts site and it superseded to another number which usually means its available. Check the site and email them and ask whats in the kit. I find it hard to belive it's under $70 like it says. http://www.nismoparts.com

I don't know but consider changing your avitar because it does slow things down for us dial-up users. Not to mention that it also diverts my focus from the topic!:classic:
  7. Take a look at this attachment. The only other option I've ever seen on them is the factory alloy rims like in my avitar:
  8. I think that's physics. I was trying to remember the third law of thermodynamics.
  9. I remember the first that energy can be changed from one form to another but can't be created or destroyed. And I remember the second that in all energy exchanges if no energy enters or leaves the system the potential energy of the state will always be less than that of the initial state. But what is the third? Is it the object in motion thing? Or for every action, etc.? Or is that physics? It's been years!

You might try checking the ignition relay-right kick panel below the dash:

I had just turned 21 then. I had no idea about the Z phenomenon. After the 72 I didn't own another Z until I bought the 78 in 1997 some 36 years later. The only other car I ever heard of being bought back by the manufacturer was my brother's 1969 (or 70, not sure) Ford Mustang Boss 429. They gave him $1000 more than he paid for it!
  12. The A tranny has the nut on the bottom holding the shifter and the B tranny has the nylon bushings with the pin and e clip holding the shifter. That's how I tell them apart.

Yes they were. I had them installed when I bought my 70 back in 1970 at Pomona Valley Datsun. They were purchased through the parts department and installed before I took delivery. They transferred them to my 72 when I bought it. They actually bought my 70 back from me a year and a half later for what I paid for it including the Libras and swapped them for the stock rims and for about 250 bucks more I had a new car! Looking back on it, I really got taken, didn't I!:stupid:

I, too, would have to say keep looking. I think you could do alot better for 5k.

No, I just can't get there. Too much white. Rear end treatment has go to go! I can appreciate the time and effort that obviously went into this car, but it just doesn't work for me. Kind of like all that yellow on Troy Thacker's car. At least he didn't ruin the hood and rear on his.
  16. Well, Chris, I'm a Grandpa! As far as Olsmobile going bust, I think General Motors is just downsizing. They always did make cars that you couldn't tell apart until you got up close.
  17. My wife likes that car (Alero) as we're looking to replace her 93 Sentra. I've been trying to steer her towards some kind of Nissan Altima, Maxima, etc. but she wants and Alero. Well, she is a Grandma!:classic:

  19. It sits over the #2 in your picture. Don't tinker around too much in there unless, like they say, 'ya got skills!'
  20. I would love to see that event come off again. I went the last four years (2 Surfside, 2 Turfside) and won the 'Best Vintage Datsun 1958-1973' with my 320. I really enjoyed the fact that it was basically all Datsun except for the ZXs. No Sentras, Stanzas, Altimas, etc. This year I would bring my 810.

Had those on my 510 although the mesh was gold and they were 13s but they were Rikens. I paid about 300 incl. tax for the four of them new in 1994. Even though your talking about 16s, I think the price is too steep even with the over half worn tires.

    That's obviously not a car site! Okay, so now we know . . . . .and?:sleepy:
  24. We to have an Ablany in the US on our south coast in Georgia. They also are a bit . . . different! Actually there's an Albany, California, Albany, New York, Albany, Oregon, and probably others.
