I looked through my stuff and I have one! Complete with the bracket, nuts, bolts, and washers. It even has the original hose and clamps and the tie wrap! PM me if you're interested. I'm sure I'll be more reasonable than MSA.

You should have a plastic coolant recovery tank in front of the radiator support on the passenger side.

I run unleaded regular in both the 280Z and the 810 with an occasional dose of Lucas fuel system treatmant. That's not meant to be a shamless plug, just what I like to use. No problems in 6 years in the Z and over a year on the 810. Oddly enough, my 320 won't run right on 87 octane, probably due to the head work and the Weber DCOE.
  5. Bill, Tell us where you can 'just get a manual.' We are talking about year specific Factory Service Manuals.

    Same here.
  7. Go easy on Frank. He's got what, 6 cars, in Los Angeles? No wonder he's bitter towards the insurance system!

I would agree with all of these except #1. Chrome over aluminum is not a good idea although you see it all the time. It has a tendency to peel over time due to the heat and the fact that aluminum is softer than other metals. I would suggest polishing the valve cover.
  9. And here's the one on my 79 810 Coupe. They were advertised back then as 'The family sedan with the heart of a Z.' In an attempt to keep it Z related I won't post a picture of my truck's plate wihich simply reads '64 L320.'
  10. Here's the one on my 78 280. It has a double meaning: I love da 'Z' or I love Daisey (my wife's name)

I, too, say original orange. I always like to paint a car the original color or as close as you can get.
  12. I have three of them, one on each Datsun. Keep in mind that you pay the fee that the plate originally costs every year! On top of your registration.
  13. You can go to the DMV site and they have all the costs there and even a place to check combinations for availability. https://vrir.dmv.ca.gov/ipp/PerLicensePlateServlet Sorry, echocluster, I noticed you were in Canada after I posted this.:stupid:

Hose clamps? I'm still working on 'billramsey2002 teaching kats children english!'

    This thread is confusing.
  16. Remember, I did say it was in my younger and stupider days!:classic:

  18. Yes, it would start. That's a way to drive home in a car when the clutch won't disengage. Turn it off at each stop. When the light changes, put in first and crank the starter until it starts and lurches away, slam it into second, third, etc. I did that a couple of times in my younger, stupider days but now I'd call AAA.
  19. Having owned a 1981 200SX, I can also add that those engines were not much for performance and were designed for emission control. NAPS stands for 'Nissan Anti-Pollution System.'

MSA is okay. They have some good parts, some average stuff, and, I hate to say it, but some junk. Their service has gone downhill over the years and I am now very selective about what I pruchase from them. Do a little more business with them and see if you still think that they 'rock.'

I have had Hagerty Insurance on both my 78 Z and my 64 320 Pickup for three years. They are both garaged. That is part of their deal. The vehicle must be 'maintained primarily for use in car club activities, exibitions, parades, other functions of public interest or for a private collection; and is used only infrequeltly for other purposes.' You must also own a 'regular use' vehicle. I pay $139/yr which covers both vehicles. You don't really need the Hagerty Protection Network coverage if you have other towing arrangements is place but it's only an extra $15/yr. That gives you up to three flatbed tows per vehicle per yr. I think that it is more than worth it to have their insurance if you use your car in that manner.

Well, you guys have been busy! All I can say after reading all of that is, and it was stated in the preceding posts, you can't come here to a Classic Z site (read S30) and convince anyone of the 'greatness' of the 350Z. Either you like it or you don't. Like anything else. Whether you have driven it or not. (I have) Some responses were well thought out, some were full of emotion. But, to Bill, they are not all driven by 'rich punks', and to threefiftyz, him saying so doesn't make him a 'bozo.' We need that sort of thing even less that we needed this thread!

Is that 'going to hell again?' If that's what you're saying, I totally agree with you, Bill!
  24. I think that the manifold will work allright but hopefully one of the carb guys will confirm since I'm more of a F.I. guy. I never heard of anyone changing out the manifold when they change to round tops.
  25. Unless you find someone who is an absolute glutton for authenticity (and/or punishment) I doubt that you have any takers!
