At least the combined $8000 you've already mentioned and then some........
  2. sblake01 replied to Chicken man's post in a topic in Help Me !!
    What exactly does that mean?
  3. I'm pretty sure there was a change in the doors somewhere between the early 260 and the 77 280Z. I know the door lock buttons are in different locations but I think the strikers and latches are different which would prevent them from being 'plug and play'.
  4. MAS would not be a generic term for an AFM. Two different things.
  5. This guy has a bunch of them and although his shipping is kind of high, the total cost is lower: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Valve-Spring-Compressor-3087-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQitemZ230482519736QQptZMotorsQ5fAutomotiveQ5fTools
  6. The Maxima, at least the RWD Maxima, had an L24E. I had a 79 810 (same motor) for 6 years as a daily driver. The cam wasn't anything special.
  7. Had I kept my 280Z, I had planned to a complete conversion to include the use an orifice tube instead of an expansion valve. I would have used R134a since the components would have been up to the task. I ahve all the equipment to do that. I just never got around to it since the system that was in it worked so well.

You might have a long wait. I put a junkyard GR starter in my 510 and drove it for 4 years until I sold it.
  9. No irony, really. It is completely legal in the US, under Section 609 of the Clean Air Act, for a certified MVAC tech, to purchase and use the remaining supply of R12. You can buy it 'new' if you're certified and wish to pay upwards of $700 for a 30 lb. jug. And that is my last word on the sidetrack.
  10. This quote is from that thread. I just couldn't find the other thread that is referred to in the quoute. You might try contacting z_again or ZSPEED77 from that site:

Bear in mind that the 1978 and up L28 starters are gear reduction starters.
  12. I'm not looking for your agreement or approval, thank you. I am a licesned HVAC/MVAC tech. Not sure if I mentioned that in this thread or not. I've done the research and I prefer not to use HC refrigerants. I've tested REDTEK12, an HC based refrigerant, and found that it cools well but Freeze 12, which is non flamable, cools a little better. I have enough R12 to not have to use either. I won't get into a discussion of the pros and cons of HC based or any other refrigerant other that stating my preference and I'd suggest to you that you shouldn't offer 'work arounds'. Besides, it really doesn't have anything to do with the subject matter of this thread which is "AC Expansion Valve Repair and Setting". My response was simply to shade 133's 'sidebar' question.
  13. Sam, read through this thread on ZCar.com. Note the posts by ZSPEED77. There are some pictures attached to post #10. http://www.zcar.com/forums/869824/evap-expansion-valve
  14. Depends on you definition of 'correct'. They are listed as universal. To my eye, they don't match the shape of an S30 fenderwell.

Rick, is it because you just get bored??????
  16. Welcome to the forum, Chebize! vs. a 92 RX7? That ain't gonna happen! Unless there's something about your 240Z you haven't told us.
  17. If you're really looking to do a V8Z, I strongly suggest you do the research. You'll need more than 'a little info' to do it right. I just don't think you realize what's involved.
  18. I can vouch for the HP an TQ of a LS2 (see my signature). But there's nothing cheap about properly building a V8 powered 240-260-280Z. They're unibody cars and without proper reinforcement you'll twist them like a pretzel. Not to mention the driveline/suspension/brake systems that need to be brought up to speed to be on par with that type of power.......
  19. Welcome! The car you pictured is considerably modified and, despite the emblem on the fender, it could be a 240, 260, or 280. The cues that would distinguish it as one or another have been pretty much hidden by the modifications. That vent on the front fender is actually a 1977-1978 280Z hood vent. I won't post my opinion of this car...this is your thread and you like the car apparently and that's all that matters. If you do a search you'll find that the differences have been covered extensively over time on this site. Though you'll find some info here, you'll find that there are other sites, such as HybridZ, that are more geared towards things like V8 conversions and highly modified cars as the one you pictured.
  20. I think you mean Tabco but I'm not sure what if anything they'd have for an S31 2+2.

    Nah, they're self priming.
  22. On the original setup, the fusible link completes the circuit. The wires don't cross anywhere.
  23. erectorset said "anything by Howlin' Wolf. What I meant was that since it's a cover, it's not by Howlin' Wolf.
  24. Not sure I understand what you're saying. You mean the clutches, S30 vs. S130/810/910 lock up at different temps? The part number is the same 21082-Y4100 for both a 78 280Z and a 79 810. EDIT: According to the Nissan Fast program, 79 and up non turbo ZX's also use that same part number as well as the RWD Maximas.
