Pardon my ignorance
Single side draft. Could be a Weber (most likely) a Mikuni, or a Dellorto. Can't really tell from the pics. It appears to be mounted on a manifold that is actually an adapter that uses the stock manifold(s). IMO it's vintage but to say it's an upgrade would be a stretch. I've been around these cars since they came to the US and I've only seen two or maybe three of those conversions.

Transmission Calculator??
No problem. GeoCities web hosting closed down on October 26, 2009 so any websites that were hosted by them have moved elsewhere like this one or have closed down entirely.

would a 280zx be a good first car?
To be blatently honest, the answer is NO. A nearly 30 year old or an over 30 year old car as WingZro suggests, would never be a good first car for a 16 year old. You'd either have to find one in 'perfect' condition, which would exceed your budget (drastically) or possess mad mechanical skills.

Kia Sportage weatherstip rocks!
I doubt it. They built a lot of those miserable little vehicles over the years and the weatherstrips being used for Datsuns will probably cancel out with the number of Sportages that are in the junkyard or otherwise no longer on the road.

Cars You've Owned...
Not knowing or even caring much about Ford Ranger history, I'll just say that when I bought the thing last December it had (and still has) blue "EDGE" decals on the rear sides of the bedrails. Perhaps something one of the many PO's added to it. I really could care less, however since it's simply a daily driver/beater/etc.

Cars You've Owned...
My GTO and my Ranger are the 50th and 51st car I've owned. I was first licensed to drive in 1966. I'm sure I've listed them at some point during my 7 or so years here so I'll spare everyone from that.

Still No Love at Barrett-Jackson
What did either of the cars in the last two posts cost when new?

Still No Love at Barrett-Jackson
Wrong venue for any Z (unless it's a Z-28)

Still No Love at Barrett-Jackson
Those photos don't appear to have been taken at the venue of the auction. Perhaps the emblems/etc. were there when it was at the auction.

Still No Love at Barrett-Jackson
I sold all three of my Datsuns for more than I had in them.

Still No Love at Barrett-Jackson
Based on the description of what was done to the car, how much profit could there really be selling it for that price? I'd have to agree with Bigoak. "Still no love".

86 300z tranny to 240z 1973?
Simple answer: No. It has been done but does require some machine work and fabrication. You can use a 5W71C transmission with a 280z-280zx bellhousing to fit the transmission to your L24. It would require some grinding on the bellhousing to clear the front gears on the input and counter shafts and swapping the front counter shaft bearings. Also you'd need to put the bellhousing in a mill and drill out the 5th/reverse shift rod hole to 16mm from 14mm. You'd need to make a trans mount and a longer driveshaft since this trans is 2-3 inches shorter. You'd be better off finding a trans designed for an S30.

Good/Bad replacement alternator?
I paid less than 30 bucks for the last externally regulated remanufactured Datsun alternator I purchased. I bought it at Kragen/O'Reilly. It lasted for years and when I sold the car it went with it. In looking it up I see that they're still only $32.99 plus 10 for the core. Lifetime warranty also.

Rb26 240z stolen in lakewood ca
I understood what he meant. I'm just not that paranoid so as to not put something on my car for fear of it being tampered with or stolen. The stark reality is that if they want it, they're going to get it. With or without the embellishments.

GT-R engine, why not a GT-R badge?

Big Shock !
That's in the vicinity of the mileage that my old 64 L320 Pickup had. Near as we could determine from what records I could find and discussions with a couple of previous owners, we determined that the truck had over 500,000 and it actually could have been 600,000mi.!

How are you #2 with only have 892 posts? And Mike has a little under 4100 so he can't be #1.

Which OIL is Best?
The viscosity would be important. Especially in the case of a rebuilt engine as Nigel mentioned in post 18. Diesel engine oil has more polymers and detergent additives allowing it to keep more combustion residue in suspension for a longer period before being changed. Seems to me that would create a sludge problem especially if your engine is rebuilt with tighter than stock tolerances. It's been debated many times but in my opinion, I'd stay away for diesel oil in a gasoline engine.
