  1. I doesn't matter about the wires. The can be connected either way. We've discussed that here before, you just didn't go back far enough. Here's one of my old posts on the subject from about 3 1/2 years or so ago. Click on the 'Injector Wires' tab in the upper right hand corner above the post if you want to see the whole thread. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showpost.php?p=187320&postcount=8

The 'super sport' sticker aren't stock. I have a copy of the 1981 'Turbo suppliment'. The only trans shown in it is an automatic. Tranny swaps are done all the time. If the right parts were used, you wouldn't be able to tell. Here's a scan from that suppliment. Note that the automatic trans is the only trans shown (under refill capacities). It's a scan of a scan so I'm sorry the scans aren't better.

Depends which way you want to go with it. The systems are different, as I and Jim said.

That and if you were going to use stock electronics, you'd have to deal with the fact that the L28ET uses a different system (E.C.C.S) than does your 78 (E.F.I.). Different wiring harnesses, components, ECUs, etc.

Having been a long time member of both sites, I don't think that's a fair assessment of HybridZ. There's misinformation as well as arrogance on this site too......And I still like them both.
  6. I've fixed mine several times only to find it changed/altered at some later date. Nature of the beast...it's a public spreadsheet.

Actually, you gave bad advice since this is really a fairly easy fix. If you know how to test electrical parts, why not buy them from the junkyard? Sometimes that's the only place you can find them. Not only are the ignition swithches universal for 70-83 S30s and S130s, they are also used in other Datsuns such as 510s, 610s, 810s, etc. Wish I'd seen this thread earlier as I would have given OniZ one the used, but tested swithces I have in the bins on my workbench. And what's worse, throwing parts at a problem or paying that "true professional" to solve a problem that you can solve yourself?

Nissan calls it a 'transistor ignition unit'. If you have the 76 manual, look on pages EE-33 through EE-38 in the Engine Electrical System section.

Two things. Good luck getting $3500 for a 2000 Daewoo and even though the Daewoo has only been out of production for about 7 years, the dealer remembers a name that hasn't been used in almost 30 years.

I don't think the Micro$oft has released a version of Movie Maker for Windows 7 yet. There is Windows Live Movie Maker which they say is comatible with Windows 7 but I've been told that it's very basic and less capable than previous versions when it comes to any kind of advanced editing. I've not tried it yet.

That's the ignition module in post #10. The fuel pumps are self priming, it just takes a little time to start it when the tank is empty.
  12. Read this ad carefully. It's just an ad that announces the 1977 280Z not the actual ZZZap car. I.E. "To this year's Z, in both its two-passenger and four-passenger versions, we've added functiontional hood louvers, a 5-speed option, etc". That refers to the whole line, not just the ZZZap unless anyone knows of a 2+2 ZZZap:
  13. Ron, that's the way I understand it. Does anyone have a scan of a ZZZap window sticker?
  14. Special Appearance Package. From my post above (#10):
  15. That depends on the individual. I personally don't value a BPE or a ZZZap any higher than any other 78 or 77. Especially since they're 32-33+ years old and won't ever be 'original' unless they were kept in some kind of controlled environment. That and there's no special nomenclature or documentation to distinguish them from any other 77 or 78 280Z such as there is for the 10th Anniversary ZX or most other manufacturers special edition vehicles.
  16. Yeah, I guess so. But unlike the Black Pearl being the first black S30, the ZZZAP wasn't the first yellow S30 though earlier ones were a different shade.
  17. They're just the two Black Pearl window stickers Carl posted some time back. One w/SAP and one w/o. You're saying a code 411 77 w/o the SAP would still be a ZZZAP?
  18. To get back on topic, esprsit, here's a quote from zhome.com:
  19. They were made with and without the SAP which consisted of dual mirrors, rear window louvers, and the grapnics. (Thanks, Carl Beck, for the scans)
  20. Yep. I finally conceded to Carl Beck that all factory painted code 638 1978 280Zs are Black Pearls with or without the SAP but the same can't be said for factory painted code 411 1977 280Zs.
  21. You need to re-think your opinion. The VIN won't tell you anything except that it's a 77. There are no 'ZZAPZ VIN numbers' just like there are no 'Black Pearl VIN numbers'. There were yellow 77s sold w/o the decals. The louver was a dealer option for any of them regardless of color.

The way I understand it is that the 77-78 floor sits higher than the 75-76 floor due to the larger gas tank. The lifted deck panels are there to provide room for the spare, jack, etc. I could be wrong but I'm thinking that the earlier panels would not fit in the later car.

That is the Datsun Restore door panel kit in Lee's post..........

Perhaps if you bridged the wires on the red interlock button (on the fenderwell, in front of the battery), you could reconnect the wires under the seat because the system would then be overridden.

Did I miss something? Who mentioned wiper blades? My point was I've run across a few "mechanics by trade" that couldn't get their head around the 280Z/ZX EFI system.
