Brake Calipers no longer avail. through Nissan
I think Carl was talking about Scarab's pics. Jared yours look just like the ones I bought about a year ago, maybe a litlle longer. Do the shims come in that kit?

Weird Myths or Facts about your Z car
I should have been clearer. The D Jetronic version of the system existed in Germany, I believe as early as 1967.

Weird Myths or Facts about your Z car
Why? The EFI that Nissan basically copied and used precedes 1971.......

Weird Myths or Facts about your Z car
How can you 'correct' some of those notions? Those people are obviously working within their own logic. They can't be 'myths' because those seem to be singular incidents and obviously they can't be 'facts'......assumptions, outright fabrications, abject ignorance?...maybe.

1972 Electric Fuel Pump
I recall Dave answering this question a while back: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showpost.php?p=292610&postcount=2

replacement console lid
John, I tried to take a pic of the one mentioned earlier in this thread but the detail of the underside doesn't show up very well because everything is black. You live fairly close. You're welcome to come by and take a look at it. Let me know.

Old Window Sticker
This post from an old thread shows another way to tell a factory air equipped 280Z from a non factory air 280Z.http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showpost.php?p=254911&postcount=6

Plug Gap - Silly Question I'm Sure
That's how an MSD ignition works but I was always under the impression that MSD stood for 'multiple spark discharge' so I just googled it and that's what the MSD site says in it's 'MSD History' section of the site.

Old Window Sticker
No. Generally they used an ARA kit that used a Sankyo SD508 compressor, an evaporator box designed for the installation, and a universal condensor. Sankyo was bought out by Sanden and the compressor that was used in the system is still available to this day. It's a good system and compares well to the factory system. The 78 I recently sold had the dealer installed system. The term 'dealer installed' should really be 'dealer authorized' since most of the installations were done by an AC shop somewhere local to the dealership.

So... Whats your beer? ID's Checked at the door.
I reacall a beer called Schaeffer (sp?) that was pretty bad. My girlfriend at the time bought it. The store was out of Stroh's and the clerk talked her into it because it was made by the same company IIRC.

I quit drinking in 1994 but when I drank it was Miller High Life or Stroh's.

Radiator coolant additives
It wasn't really a retirement. Maybe a self imposed suspension? Embarrassing, really, the way it took place and I'd just like to put it behind us (me?).

Talking Lady
It would appear that 1982 was the first year as it doesn't show up in the earlier factrory service manuals.

1981 2+2 GL with 40,000 Miles
Not really, the cable just unscrews from the back of the gauge. As far as the fenders, look underneath where they bolt on for signs of the being changed. As far as price, I wouldn't be a good source of info because I don't think any ZX, especially a 2+2 is worth 7K, or even 5K. except possibly a turbo model, a 10th anniversary model or a ZXR. Maybe $2500 max if the condition warrants. That's JMO.

1981 2+2 GL with 40,000 Miles
An 81 would have a 6 digit odometer which would register beyond 100K. If the condition of the car doesn't appear to match the odometer reading that likely the cable was disconnected or the gauge cluster has been changed.

Radiator coolant additives
Harbor Frieght sells a non contact laser type thermometer for about 60 bucks, sometimes less when they're on sale. Mine cost a little more than that but it's a bit higher end than the one Harbor sells.

Considering Parting with my Z .......
Nah, no carbs here except for the Weber on my truck (that will soon be gone also). This site doesn't need me. As I get older I get less tolerant of the BS I guess and even tend to contribute some of my own. As I've never been one to back down it's easier to just back away. I'm only partially to blame for what took place and the other party in it refuses to accept his share of blame or even discuss it with me so we'd still have a problem if I visited on a regular basis, so I won't/can't. But you guys (for the most part) are still the best!

Considering Parting with my Z .......
Just letting you all know (if anyone cares) that I no longer own a Z. It sold today and I got what I wanted to get for it. Now, I'll retun to my (self-imposed) exhile:) I'll look in on you guys now and then but I just can't deal with the drama.

Animated 240Z chase
Watch it, the sentiment you express is what got me in trouble with Doc Conedodger last week!

Removing Air conditioning
I guess there were different aftermarket units. This one appears to require an opening were it mates with the blower housing.

Battery, Alternator, or other electrical system problem
As far as the fuel pressure goes, electrical wouldn't effect it. Unregulated, that pump would put out somewnere in the vicinity of 100 psi. Manifold vacuum actually controls the fuel pressure through the fuel pressuse regulator so even if the voltage was slightly down it wouldn't make enough difference to matter. EDIT: I have no clue about Megasquirt. What I said assumes a stock fuel pressure regulator.

A/C 240 72 rebuilt and cooling performance...
Glad you're happy with it. I've had the Freeze-12 charge on both of my cars for years now without any leaking problems. I'm sure that the lower high side pressure when compared to R12 helps there also. The570z and I weren't mad at each other. We were just expressing a high degree of passion for what we do......

Removing Air conditioning
There would have to be an opening there from which to draw the cooled air from the evaporator housing through the existing blower fan.
