I use 10W-30 also and have for years. I've had no oil related problems. You might even notice a slight increase in gas mileage over 20W-50.

Check the connectors on the passenger side right behind the front of the console. I used to intermittently lose my turn signals until I pulled both of those apart and cleaned up the terminals. Also check the hazzard switch since the turn signals share that circuit. When I got my 78, the PO had cleverly mounted the antenna switch in the 'choke lever' hole. By doing so, of course, he had to cut the console which ruined it. That was the first item I bought (the console) when I began the refresh of my Z.
  3. Welcome, Bill. Go here http://carfiche.com/manuals020/cars/ and you can download the entire 76 FSM free. If it's temporarily unavailable, keep going back until it's available.

Are these the bulbs? Sorry about the picture quality. If so they are still available from Nissan. Part number 26261-89900 for about $1.50. They are bulb number 158 and we also have them at Ace Hardware.
  5. Lose that flywheel!

The total number of posts amongst those members is 80. If you remove one of them, that total is 2. I don't think that it's an indication of anything except how easy it is to not just become a member but continue to be listed as one.
  8. I think you'd be better off finding the OEM fuel pump.
  9. Are you running the OEM fuel pump? You answered your own question when you stated the unregulated pressure. Max is correct that the stock pump won't reach pressures like that.

I bought my first Z brand new at Pomona Valley Datsun in 1970 at age 20. #00488. I'm sure I've told the story here before. Have been unable to locate it on any of the Z registers. I traded it in for a 1972, at age 22, don't remember the VIN, and drove that for about three years before selling it. It would be another 25 years (1997), age 46, when I bought my third, the 78 that I still own. I've owned many cars, Datsuns and others during that span. I think the 810 is the 48th or 49th car or truck that I've owned not counting wives cars.
  11. Oh, I don't know. This all occurred a couple of years ago. Who knows what my mindset was then. It looks like the thread got a bit off kilter and I was probably just reacting to that. Is that your 521 in your avitar?
  12. If I remember correctly, ZX's don't have thermotime switches like the earlier EFI cars and they get the signal from somewhere in the ECU. If your cold start valve isn't simply leaking, which I suspect from what you say, then check the connector for continuity with the car running. Hopefully, you won't find any since that woud mean that the problem is in you ECU. I don't like the 'blowing through the cold start valve test' and I use a vacuum pump to test them for leakage. I'm not sure I or anyone can blow 37+ psi.

You might want to check inside your distributor and make sure the mechanism that the arm on the vaccum advance moves isn't somehow crudded up or siezed.

I have at least one spare of every relay, switch, sensor, for my two EFI cars. Two sets of injectors, 2 810 afm's, a 280 afm, center consoles, mirrors, a/c parts etc. I don't collect the larger stuff like body parts, bumpers, windshields, etc. mainly because I don't have the room. Some of this stuff can't be acquired anymore at any price but I started my collection when things didn't cost quite so much. These are 28 to 43 year old cars I have and you can't just bop down to the local Kragenpepzoneapa and expect to find much for them.
  15. You could use a remote oil filter kit and T the temp sender into one of the lines which would put it in the pumping/filtering flow and away from the pan.
  16. They don't have an oil temp guage except for the L28ET. He's trying to add an aftermarket guage. He's looking for a place on the block to mount it but as stated in another thread:

What's the condition of your temperature sensor and it's connection?
  18. I don't much follow it much myself either but I know the major series names. They stand for Nascar Craftsman Truck Series (I typo'd NTCS should have been NCTS), Nascar Nextel Cup Series, and Nascar Busch Series.
  19. I think the manual valve is still available. At least it was about two and a half years ago when I changed mine. 27190-N3100 was the number and it was only about 12 bucks. I don't know how that would work out with your cables, controls, etc. Mine is a 78 non-a/c car with an aftermarket a/c system so it still has the manual controls.
  20. I don't think Nissan has any plans of entering NASCAR. If they did, they'd already be there. Remember, Toyota has been in NASCAR in the NTCS since 2004. And I think they had cars in some of the lesser series even earlier than that. They're just putting cars in the NNCS and the NBS this year.
  21. It's fairly new. I belong to one that's been around for a year and a half or so and the most users ever online is 11.
  22. Works for me now too. Maybe just a temporary glitch.
  23. The site's already down or at least I can't get it to load right now.

Yeah, that response is about 4 months late. I'd suspect that legendzcarclub's won't be as simple to fix.
  25. I especially liked seeing these two pictures on that site:classic:
