  1. Well, I did say the rememberance was vague.
  2. Duane Allman did kind of a 3/4 time ballad called "She's my woman". Not sure what year I just vaguely remember the song. Might have been when he was with 'The Hourglass' rather than the earlier stuff with The Allman Brothers.

I suffered enough during it's first showing.
  4. My 78 was a daily driver up to about 4 years ago when it got stolen. It has always been reliable and still could be a daily driver today had I not bought the 810. It's also reliable and I've used it for a daily driver for a little over 3 years now. Knowing them both inside and out doesn't hurt. These are not 'drive them till they drop' type cars like they build now. Like the ones that will supposedly 100,000 miles between tune ups, etc. They need regular preventative maintainence. And I really wouldn't suggest that people of limited mechanical knowledge attempt to use them as daily drivers.

Actually, it's algorithm. 'i' not 'y'. But that's just a term for a step by step problem solving procedure.

STEPHEN not Steven, it's in my signature, but again I digress. Those visors I described were on older cars and trucks but back to the deflectors. I looked to those a while back but decided that they would have to be mounted on the outer edge of the window frame with screws (no way!) or double sided tape, hard to remove and a mess to clean up. Let me know if you come up with anything better.

He said in his post that he took his car the the shop to have the ball joints replaced as well as the front struts. Which still leads to the faint odor of pescado!

Oh, so your talking about wind deflectors? I thought you meant that thing that you see on some cars and trucks that hangs off the front of the roof and extends about 6" or so over the front window. I'm glad that's not what you meant though you have come up with some wierd stuff in the past, but I digress. I don't think anyone actually makes or made wind deflectors for an S30 but I have seen them on a couple of Zs so they must have been modified to fit as 240ZX indicated.

That would do it. Is that a strut nut? If so, I'd give 'em hell at the shop

That third picture appears to be of a mode door actuator. I'm not that familiar with ac on a ZX but it looks similar to what's on my 810. If you're not getting proper vaccum to those due to a bad hose or the actuator itself it would cause the problem you describe.
  11. Early ones had the single side key. But I thought they were supposed to have an oval head. These look like the blanks for mid/late 60s Datsuns rather than the Z. They look like the mirror image of the blank that fits my 1964 L320 pickup.

Hey c david, what's your connection with B.B.? I don't have a Quick Time player. A few years back, my oldest sister was married to Jimmie Bolden, B.B.'s trumpet player. Jimmie is my nephew's dad. We used to go see B.B. whenever he was in So Cal. Oh, and the commercials are pretty well known. Some of them are on the Z Car microfiche CD.

I really don't have any suggestions other than ruling out vapor lock. I've never experienced it is either of my efi Datsuns and my long time friend and owner of a Z shop says that efi Datsuns don't vapor lock. Acting up when hot can be a myriad of different things from a bad temp sensor to a bad efi relay. A bad air regulator, cold start valve, thermotime switch, coil, even a bad fuel pump check valve. All of those are things that work better when cool than when hot. Those, I've been through and solved.

Again, I'll state that I've not experienced vapor lock in either of my EFI cars and I live in So Cal. And niether of them have those stupid cooling fans. You guys are discussing cars that have had some apparently bad maintainence/modifications performed on them by previous/previous owners. And then suggesting that you do more bad mods like wrapping the lines in thermal wrap which accomplishes about as much as the ZX cooling fans. Note that the ZX was the only car that Nissan chose to put those on. Not the RWD Maximas, 810s etc. There are some misconceptions posted here about vapor lock. An EFI fuel pump is powerful enough to 'force through the system' at it's regulated pressure. If it's working properly. If you were discussing carbureated cars, there might be some validity to this discussion. Again, I say forget about vapor lock and look elsewhere. OUT!
  15. Sure, that's how I made mine. All you need is a guage, a tee, and a couple of 5/16 hose barbs.

This is the guy that has polished six spoke zx wheels going for $500/$600 BIN. I think that there is a lot that he's not understanding!
  17. We're probably going to have to start a ZX forum on this site.
  18. Your comparison is, after all, to a ZX which many would put in the same catagory.
  19. Belt dressing is just a lazy, quick fix and actually shortens belt life. Proper adjustment is the only correct thing to do there.

Bruce is most likely looking for this. I had to replace mine a couple of years back. Nissan still had them then, I'm not sure about now.

Can't do it. You can only run a Carfax check on a car with a 17 digit VIN. That didn't begin until, I believe, the 1981 model year. Also, in the US, the 77-78 280Z were the ones that came with hood vents.
  22. sblake01 replied to susie's post in a topic in Help Me !!
Welcome, Susie. If it has a bad solenoid, choking it wouldn't help. The type of bumpers it has depends if it is an early or late 260Z. Early has the 240 type bumpers, late has the 280 type. Many people that own them leave the L26 engine in it and some even keep the flat tops carbs that people like to bad mouth. The value is actually somewhat subjective as I've seen some nice examples of the 260Z fetch fairly good selling prices. Remember, it is all opinion.
  23. I don't know, if your car ran okay before changing the hoses, I don't see how that could suddenly crud up the fuel rail. Before tearing it apart again, I would check and make sure that all of the connections that were removed during this process are clean and re connected properly.
  24. sblake01 replied to mr_man21's post in a topic in Electrical
I don't understand this. First of all, I doubt that vapor lock could occur at the 36.3 psi that the efi cars are regulated to. Secondly, I live in So Cal, and drive my 78 280Z in 100+ degree weather w/o ever experiencing this problem. No auxiliary cooling fans, no thermal wrap etc. I really don't think that the 280ZX injector cooling fans accomplish anything and note that you don't see them on any of the later cars. I would tend to lean more in the direction that Enigma went.
  25. sblake01 replied to whew41's post in a topic in Help Me !!
The 280 never had one. For whatever reason they're talking about a 280ZX.
