floor jack
Mine is not only low profile enough for the Z (2 7/8" minimum heigth) but it worked for my 1600 roadster and presently works for my GTO. I can do transmissions with it also because I have an adapter that fits on the jack and actually adds to it's maximum height.

floor jack
Don't care much for the aluminum jack most places sell. They try to capitalize on the preception of the 'Nascar' type but the real ones cost upwards of $600! I have a 2 1/2 ton heavy cast iron floor jack that I bought years ago at Harbor Freight. The only thing that has gone wrong with it was the handle spring broke and they sent me a new one free. Max lift on it is 22".

Injector Plug clips?
There are wire clips that hold the plugs on the injector. What kind of shape are your plugs in? Are they cracked/brittle? We've done a thread or two on replacing them with the 'quick release' connectors use on BMW's etc. Starting from about post # 10, read through this thread an also checkout the link in post # 10: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22929

HVAC help
Actually, 1974 was the first year for factory air in an S30 in the U.S. with the intro of the 260Z. There were also many with aftermarket or 'dealer installed' air like yours.

Weird Myths or Facts about your Z car
I've seen the car. It's not worth $850 even as a parts car. Bad motor, bad tranny (4spd), trashed interior, lots of rust, missing parts.....

My fusible link upgrade...
He won't see your advice because, like I said, Gordon hasn't been here in quite a while. Don't even think he owns the Z anymore. I remember him because I sold him some wheels about 7 years ago.

Cars over the years.....Datsun, Jeep and Porsche win!
We've done this a few times over the years so I won't post up my list again but I believe the Ranger and GTO are numbers 51 and 52 for me.

77 280z Failed CA Smog
You have to fail by a certain amount to be consdered a gross polluter. You reached the gross polluter status based on your CO reading. Your HC, though failing, was below GP status. I concur with Montezuma. Those readings, in my experience would also lean towards a bad cat.

My fusible link upgrade...
He hasn't been here in a couple of years but I believe Sarah (FastWoman) did something similar with her fusible links.

PLEASE HELP!!! need a shifter
Didn't member 'TomoHawk' used a shifter from some type of Chrysler product on his automatic?

Mystery vacuum hose and harness wire
Actually, the thermotime switch only sends the 'open' signal to the cold start valve when the engine is cold and then only for a max of 9 seconds. Having it disconnected would actually prevent the cold start valve from opening.

Buying my first z today!!
Not really sure about 77s but most of the 78s I've seen (including mine) that weren't automatics were 5 speeds.
-
Buying my first z today!!
5 speed was an option in 77. Usually, people use the 81-83 ZX speed because of the slightly higher 5th gear and they're a little easier to find since so many more were made.

Didn't we already cover that in the other thread a week or two ago?

Injector Holder's
I always removed the rail with the injectors attached to it. That makes the job go quicker.
-
Injector Holder's
What I said isn't really feedback. Just an attempt to rebuke anectodal information. It really doesn't matter which you use. I've installed the plastic ones on other cars I've worked on in the past and they work just as well. The metal ones were my personal preference because they are original.

Super frustrated!!!!!
Nice thread jack. If you're trying to sell your car you should create you own thread or put it in the classifieds. I hardly think that someone looking for a 240Z and is also stockpiling parts for same would have much interest in your car anyway. Just sayin.........

Injector Holder's
Considering that the body of the injector predominately metal and it's screwed into an aluminum manifold, I don't see what difference the material that the holder is made of would make. I had aluminum holders on my 280Z and my 810 for the entire time I owned them without any problems. I'll buy the 'plastic is cheaper' theory however.

Too Intense Restoration trustworthy?
My only dealings with him were around 1998-1999 when I was refreshing my 280Z. He was great to deal with then. Never had any problems. Used to see him at many of the local shows and he was always cordial. He had a tragedy in his life in the mid 2000s that I won't mention here as this is not the place. Those of you that know, know what I'm talking about. That's around the time that things began to change with him and his business. I'm not trying to make excuses for him; it's just an observation.

Too Intense Restoration trustworthy?
Obviously, something is going on. You don't go from being an equitable and reliable business as TIR was to being thought of as a 'crook' without some explaination. By the way, robertsjeff, I'd watch calling a person or business out like that on a public website regardless of what you've been through. That's the stuff upon which defamation suits are made of.......

Loose shifter, type A tranny
You may be the O.P. in the other thread but not in this one.........
-
Eco Boost f150
Canada uses imperial gallons which are equal to about 1.2 U.S. gallons IIRC......
-
Loose shifter, type A tranny
Not sure tht would solve the problem. Isn't a roadster trans essentially the same as a type A? I put a 2000 roadster 5 speed in my 1600 roadster 'back in the day'.

904 touch up paint
Interesting. I just went through that site for 1970-1978 Datsun using their search and didn't see 904, the color Guy asked about or 901 as you stated. Is their another way to locate colors on that site? Try this site. They show 904 and under '1970 Nissan 240Z' I've actually bought from them before and the 609 Mahagony Mist for my 810 was a pretty good match. http://www.paintscratch.com/
