  1. The 81 200SX I once owned had a solid rear axle w/discs IIRC.
  2. I purchased an antenna from this seller before. Looks like his description of his cars is similar to his description of his antennas.
  3. A trans from a 80 200sx wouldn't work in a Z. The engines in those cars (Z20s) are slanted more than an regular L4 or L6. The bell housing is also slanted to compensate. It would bolt up but the shifter would come out at a funny angle.
  4. I have that info for both my Z and my 810. I wouldn't have any interest in meeting the either of the salesmen, however.
  5. You're asking me?
  6. http://zhome.com/History/Truth/GoertzMyth.htm
  7. You can open that hole on the head. I have actually done that. Not on a L motor but on a NAPS Z24 that I put in a late 510 that originally had a Z20 in it. I just drilled a hole an finished it with a die grinder, tapped the holes for the studs and put the fuel pump on. If you do that remember to install the eccentric wheel on the front of the cam gear.
  8. I almost bought a Z32 when my 280Z got stolen. The cops found it before I closed the deal. Glad it worked out that way. I'm just not a Z32 kind of guy.
  9. Doesn't that really just date code the jack and tool kit? The car would have to have been built before the kit was put in.
  10. It didn't need to be 'fixed'. It's tongue-in-cheek like the rest of the thread has become.
  11. Ah, the refreshing exuberance of youth.
  12. Double Webers would be downdraft DGV's. Triple Webers would be side drafts like 40DCOE's. It is done and has been done all the time. I hope you're not talking about triple downdrafts! Double is bad enough.
  13. The spark plug wires?? You are and idio.....No, just kidding. I'm sure all of us, if we would admit it, have at least one story like that. I have several. I once agonized for about an hour as to why my car would not start after a tune up until I glanced over to the workbench and saw the new rotor just sitting there........
  14. There are a handful of members here that own a Z31 as I've seen in their signatures, but this site deals almost exclusively with L engined cars. It's been debated in the past as to whether or not even the 280ZX should be discussed on this site, and I'm not saying that to open that up again, but simply that there would be little if any info here on anything later than that. I would suggest HybridZ, NICO, or one of the other sites that deal with the later Z (84 up) for more extensive info on those cars.

Like a lot of companies, MSA is not what it once was. I stopped buying from them about 4 years ago when their customer service began it's decline and their prices began their increase. After all, they sell the same stuff everyone else does.

Actually, it's a 71. Was the turbo motor installed with the right components? ECU, wiring harness, relays, etc?

Whatever works! I thought about the historical vehicle plate since in Calif. it would also make the care exempt from emisssions testing but I went with a vanity plate since my car always passes smog w/o a problem.
  18. Not much different over here either. My 79 810 is and has always been registered in California as a 78.

I don't know if your were down, but the site was. How's the tank coming along?
  20. I've never used tape or any kind of sealer on them either.

I actually think it's simpler than that. Are your side vent tubes connected at both ends? I only ask because when I got my 78, they were both cracked an the heat never made it to the vents.

I'm still looking for a 70 mm tube since that's the size of the of the rubber duct. That's about 2 3/4". It would be easier to put a 3" filter over a 70mm tube than it is to put a 3" tube in a 70mm duct. Or better yet, find a filter that fits the 70mm tube. K&N makes them in all sizes.
  23. I have the same type that DZR posted. It works with an air hammer so you don't have to use a sledge hammer.
  24. "Very few of these car left in this type of condition." The ad states that the car has undergone a complete mechanical and body restoration-never any rust. What type of condition should it be in?:stupid:

If you ran the drive through a USB to IDE adapter, like I suggested in post #29, it would not have to go through the bios and thus would not have to go through checkdisk. In essence the old hard drive would become a USB mass storage device. You could simply drag the files you want from it once you were in windows. I've done this, it works as long as the drive it still readable.
