Should I or Should I not buy a 1979 280zx?
I think you need to re read his post, rather than quoting the whole thing. He's basically said the same thing you did. He's not putting down the car.

Fuel pressure!
Did you notice the fuel pressure problem after installing this fuel pump? The operating pressure you mention (40psi) is actually a little high. The FSM says 37psi with the stock pump. I have no personal experience with the Master E8312 fuel pump but I remember reading on another board about it. It was quite a while back, maybe three years ago, but one of the members suggested to stay clear of those. It's about the 7th post (by Socket2Me). This is another area where I would recommend OEM. http://www.zcar.com/forums/read.php?f=1&i=325026&t=324986

Fuel pressure!
I'm not familiar with the aftermarket fuel pump but I would think that the check valve would be in the same place, in the oultlet.

Mounting emblems
With judicious use of a heat gun, I've removed the 3M tape without damaging the paint. Low heat so as not to burn the paint or the emblem. Nissan used double sided tape on some of their emblems. Maybe not on the 240Z but the '5 Speed' emblems used on the 280Z, 200SX, 810 etc. didn't have pins.

heater valve change .. drain Antifreeze???
When I did mine I also had the heater core redone. I tried to buy a new one but, at least in my research, new 280Z heater cores are NLA.

Fuel pressure!
Sure, that's why you are cautioned in the FSM to release the fuel pressure before you remove a fuel line. You might want to look at the check valve on your fuel pump. When they go bad they can cause the fuel pressure to go away when you turn the car off. One indication of the would be difficulty starting after a quick stop such as to run in to a convenience store or geting gas.

Please help me with my HARDBODY!

Wheel Cylinders for early 72 where?
Try here. They show both and the price is reasonable. Scroll down to WC 37275 and WC37351.http://wrenchead.carparts.com/servlets/WebEPC35?ns=Brakes%20%26%20ABS%20Rear+Caliper%2C+Wheel+Cyl%2C+Hoses%201972%20NISSAN/DATSUN%20240Z&cl=jcw-carparts35&vc=1972|60|24Z|10870&grc=11016&grd=Brakes%20%26%20ABS&JCWRETURN=store.carparts.com&storeId=10401&catalogId=10101&sgc=12101

Mounting emblems
I think this is better than 'probably'. 3M makes a thin black tape especially for that type of use. It's available at NAPA though they may have to order it. It comes in a huge roll, much larger than you really need. I bought some in 1993 and still have at least 25 ft. left. It has a red backing. It has lived through washings, weather, etc. 8 years on the Z and 2.5 years on the 810. It won't come off unless you want it to. However, don't use the regular 3M office supply type stuff.

Fuel pressure!
It should sustain it.

Transmission serial number
Isn't he the Z Car Magazine guy? Or Z Car and Classic Datsun Magazine? Whatever it was called.

SCCA EP Race on TV Sunday
I think that would fall under the heading of 'just racin'. Lost a yellow Z early in the race. 'Gira' started 14th, finished 14th, kept the wheels and fenders on, all and all a good job condisering all of crashes and spinouts. Stay tuned for the GT1 race!

Who wants a set of Euro tail lights for under $200?
I'm not really involved in it. In fact, it would be in my best interest to stay out of this thread since I don't own a 240 and don't plan to buy any of the lenses anyway.

Well, I guess that's fair but if you (general not specific) call someone a name, which I don't do here, it should come with an explianation otherwise, keep it to yourself (again; general not specific).

SCCA EP Race on TV Sunday

Radio Antenna Switch
I thought I answered that in the other thread you posted it in. If it's not a momentary on-off-on switch then it's probably not for a power antenna. More likely for the alarm system that you said is partially removed. As far as a couple of thousand members having a constructive comment? I think the group that would possibly come from would be considerably smaller. Look at the number of members we have and than look at the number of posts many of them have. Lots of members but the posts come mainly from an ever dwindling group. And, constructive, well ................ sometimes.

Radio Antenna Switch
Doesn't even look like he's a member anymore and I doubt you'll get a response for Bambikiller either.

Honda blower motor installation
Looks like a pretty good kit. It has finished lines instead of the bulk lines w/hose barbs like the dealer add on system in my 78. It took a lot of work for me to get those to stay sealed. It also uses a Sanden compressor. That's a plus. R134a cools very well in a system designed for it. I've done a couple of conversions (R12 to R134a) and was only moderately satisfied with the results. I use R414B (Hotshot) but that's a whole different story. If you don't have a liscense to buy it, you'd have a problem finding a shop that wil service your a/c if it has Hotshot in it. R134a can be purchased by anyone. Even in large cylinders. Anyway, if you have the expertise to install the system yourself, that is also a plus as it's somewhat labor intensive and costly if a shop does it. as far a Woodstock goes, that's the name of my truck. I really can't recall why but we've been calling it that ever since I bought it 25 years ago.

Luggage Straps
Are they different than the ones on a 78?

It was worth all the trouble !!!!!
Nice 1st gen. It sure reminds of the one I owned 35 years ago. Except for the wheels.

I am aware that the lenses you speak of don't yet exist. I touch on that in my post. You didn't lead me to believe anything as you came into this thread as the 19th post. I was commenting on things that went on earlier.

Well it's been fun guys but...
Sorry, Mike, my bad for taking it in that direction. I just hate to see longer tenured members go away for any reason even if it's temporary.

I tried to find this yesterday when you posted. Anyway here it is. It won't help you find one but it does give an overview of the system. http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/carboncan/index.html
