  1. I just took it out to see what it looked like. The rest of the switch is toast. It's one I replaced about 6 years ago. If you ever do need it, let me know.
  2. I and telling you, from experience, both with my car and other California cars, that the letter is not part of the VIN tag.
  3. My 78 has that light and is a Cali car.

Don't get me wrong. I wasn't getting on your case. Just making sure we were all talking about the same thing.
  5. How is it mounted? It's been a while since I looked at one but if is screws on, I may have one somewhere in the garage on an old switch assembly. EDIT: I do have one. It's just about the only part of my old switch assy. that's still any good. I desoldered the wire and the plastic part that it mounts on has a small crack but it should work. The metal part is still good.
  6. Those letters only show up in the cars paperwork i.e. window sticker, guarantee card etc. You won't find them on any of the tags mounted on the car or stamped in the firewall.

I have a 78 L28E (round) and a 79 L24E (square). Though the site say it fits both(!) it doesn't match either of my heads.

Read his post. He says '350z V6' as in Nissan 'VQ35DE' in a Z. That has what to do with a 350 Chevy in a ZX?

Vicky beat me to it. Unless the tranny has been changed, it's a 4 speed.

Looks like they should have built one more year of S30. Then the 10 anniversary car would be an S30 and maybe they'd still have won that Motor Trend award by releasing the ZX in 1980.
  11. By 'cruise control' I think you mean hand throttle. Looks like a good starting point. Alan T. (HS30-H) and Kats are probably the most knowlegable here on Fairladies.

Don't know the figures but the 1979 280ZX was the Motor Trend Magazine 1979 Import Car of the Year.

  14. Your useless ramblings have what to do with Classic Z cars? Other than the fact that Z cars have engines? You are clogging up this site with your theories, your attempts to justify something that no one is asking for, and in general, your crap. I DON'T KNOW WHY MIKE HASN'T KILLED THIS THREAD ALONG WITH YOUR OTHERS, AND I DON'T KNOW WHY HE HASN'T BANNED YOU SINCE YOU CONTRIBUTE NO Z RELATED CONTENT TO THIS SITE. I WONDER HOW MANY IGNORE LISTS YOU ARE ON. I WONDER WHAT YOU ARE ON. DONE.
  15. What is he trying to accomplish? And does it really belong here? This isn't a science think tank and the only connection this has with Z cars is that they also have an engine. I can put up with this as long as you all can put up with it. Rock on!

He's parting out a 240. A lot of those parts you list wouldn't fit your car.
  17. I know, I was just trying to be funny. I've looked at some of his other threads and responses and wondered about the relevance of them on this forum but at least they are entertaining.
  18. Does anyone know what he's talking about?
  19. sblake01 replied to zhead240's post in a topic in Open Chit Chat
No disrespect taken. Remember I said it would be interesting, but I also said that I wouldn't buy it.
  20. Cool. It took me about a week to figure out that that was what was causing the problem in my car.
  21. They're from the 78 280Z FSM. Doesn't the 240 FSM have wiring diagrms?
  22. It's probably not a fuse but if you have one that looks burned, change it. There is a connector located at the right just under the front of the console that ties these two systems together. (turn sigs/hazzards) I used to have intermittent problems with mine not working and I solved it by cleaning the contacts on this plug. It is labled C-7 in both of the scans.
  23. I don't know if it's better but I've always liked to adjust them hot. I would define cold as having not run the car long enough so that the engine is at the ambient air temperature and hot would be after you've run or driven the car up to normal operating temperature.
  24. dogma, I know you were just 'signifying' as my uncle used call it. I made a half-hearted attempt to give it back to you in one of my earlier posts here. As for the bumpers, well I've been tapped a couple of times at a stop light and I was glad I had a 280 instead of a 240 at that point. Bill, a clogged injector won't strand you. The car will run like shi* but it will still get you home.

I think you're missing the point here. I'm not really a ZX fan either but a 25 year old car of any make with mileage this low is certainly of interest. And as far as the paint job well that's the factory paint job for that car. They also make a red and black 10 anniversary ZX which had a very low production number. I think that there were only 500 red/black versions. I would find a 1980 Hyundai (if such a thing existed) in this condition and mileage interesting but I wouldn't buy it. Ease up on the hatin'! zhead240, I once owned a Puch Maxi Sport moped.
