  2. To each; his own. I just don't see how this affects me. Sounds to me like the main goal is to crack down on street racing and maybe prevent it before it takes place. Maybe they're reaching for straws because apparently street racing is not totally preventable. I don't street race, I have no desire to street race. It's obvious what type of vehicle they are trying to target. If you have a Z and you are worried about it being profiled as a rice car, then maybe you need to change your approach. As far as bashing other's ideas, and I'm sure that will continue in this thread, what purpose does that serve. I take TomoHawk's remarks lightly and sometimes wonder if he is simply trying to instigate but the reality is that if these laws go into affect, what can you really do. It's fine to champion a cause but maybe here is not the place. I fight my own battles. If someone cares to help me fight one, fine. If they don't, they don't. But I don't worry much about other peoples opinion. They are entitled to it and what I think about someone's opinion is really of little importance to them or I. No more from me in this thread, I promise!

    No but I have a 'Recomended tire inflation pressures' sticker which states tire sizes, inflation pressures, vehicle capacity weight, seating capacity, spare tire use, but no mention of rim width.
  4. zman, if you'll go back to my above post (#28), you'll see that I have inserted an attachment. In that attachment notice all the potential leaks is the egr is not hooked up.

    The US 280 had the optional alloy wheel (shown in my avitar). It was 5.5" but that was only on the 75-78 280Z. The later 79-83 280ZX had 6" wide alloys as an option in the 6 spoke and 'Iron Cross' style wheel and the 15" 'Swastika' on the Turbo which I believe was also 6" wide.

    Your petrol prices over there are less than 1/3 of what we pay here. Since there are 4 quarts rather than liter to a US gallon, the price would actually be less than what you stated. I guess that makes sense since you are in the region where it is produced.
  8. I have not been pulled over in 9 years, and when I was, I deserved it. I am Black and I have never been involved in an kind of stop that I would consider 'profiling.' When I hear of friends that complain about that I look at their vehicle. My stereo isn't loud, my exhaust isn't loud (well, not really), I don't have 20 inch 'fat chrome', a wing, limo tint, etc. My ride has not been 'pimped', 'riced', 'tuned', or any of the modern parlance. If you ask me it sounds like 'vehicle profiling' and neither I nor any of my vehicles fit. That's all I was trying to say in my first post. I'll just stand by and read the rest of this because I don't really have anything else to add.
  9. Window tint, large spoilers, extra gauges, racing stickers, excessive exhaust noise. No, I really couldn't be their next victim. And why do you use the word 'victim?' I really don't think that this has much to do with the type of cars we generally discuss here.

    I think I posted this in the thread that Corganx33 referred to above. The EFI relay is under the bracket, behind the fusible link covers on the right side between the shock tower and the battery. See the attachment in that post. BTW, what makes you think your relay is bad? I ask only because I've worked on these cars for years and never had a problem with an EFI relay. Oh, and the dropping resistor is on the drivers side next to the clutch master cylinder, not that you should ever have a problem with that either.

    Your picture is of a 75-76 (going by the single fusible link cover) as the 77-78 doesn't have those ducts in the corners by the radiator.

    TomoHawk, take a look at this scan. It's from the 1978 280Z owners manual. Particularly item #32 labled 'floor vent control'. My car doesn't have and appears to never have had one. Does yours?
  17. Sorry to burst your bubble but those are not OEM wheels. The Z didn't have an optional factory aluminun wheel in the U.S. until 9/74 which was the beginning of the 75 model year 280Z.
  18. The 280 setup is considerably different. This is for a 78 but a 76 would be similar in that it is fuel injected rather than carbed.
  19. What head is on your 240? If it's an N42 or N47 the a PO must have swapped engines. In that case you probably put a 280 manifold on a 280.
  20. Something I just realized that I missed: Somewhere in this thread or another one about your car, you said that you put the 72 exhaust system on the 76? If you did that, then your exhaust ports don't match your manifold. It'll run but may not run as good as it would if they matched and you could have exhaust leaks.
  21. Sounds like she's just trying to recoup her invetment which sounds a bit inflated to me. That car is essentially a hybrid even though it has a Datsun engine (VG30E). But $49,900? I don't know if I would pay that for either of Chris's cars when completed! (Even though they'd be worth it)

The one that MSA sells, although pricey, is one of the better ones around but basically, all you need is a 90 degree elbow tube 2.75" (60mm) in diameter, cut to the right lengths a filter and some type of bracket. Anything to keep from pulling the air from under the hood like the stock 75-77 air box does.
  23. The angle that your intake sits at seems odd. Most of the ones I've seen come out of the boot at a 90 degree angle and go straight across in front of the radiator support with the filter in the center of the car. Also, you muffler should be a center inlet/offset outlet, mounted vertically instead of horizontally. It would fit better.
  24. Actually it takes a special socket. I bought a set of three sockets at a tool show years ago. They are designed to remove oil pressure senders, a/c pressure switches, and items like your switch without damaging them.

    I kind of like them too. Are you talking about the 280Z or the Vette. I like Vette's also but I doubt if I would ever own one even though I have reached a stage in life where I could.
