383 Stroker
Under hood shot of a well done V8 conversion. This car has a 383 stroker, 6 spd Cobra trans(!) quaife differential, Vintage Air A/C, subframe, fuel cell, and many other things I probably missed. It was at the 6/12/05 Absolute Z BBQ.

Windshield Glass -- foggy
I have two cans of Brasso on the shelf in my garage and I see it everyday on the shelf at work at ACE Hardware. I always thought it was very common here. Now, Vegemite, that's a whole different story.

Alternate Fuel Filter
My bad. I missed the word 'adding'. There was another member here who recently replaced his fuel damper with a filter. In my experience, however, the little filter in the inlet of the fuel pump is easy to remove and clean and I've never seen one get really dirty even on junkyard cars.

Alternate Fuel Filter
There is no fuel filter prior to the fuel pump on 75-78 cars! That is a fuel damper. But if you were going to use an aftermarket filter on an efi car, in place of the underhood fuel filter, make sure its designed for fuel injection.

Windshield Glass -- foggy
I don't know, Rick. My parents were from Guyana. Compared to some of the things I ate growing up, it can't be that bad! I never cared much for peanut butter and jelly, however.

eBay beauty
If that goes for the buy it not price, I'm breaking out my chop saw and a can of Krylon!

I've heard it said that vegemite has more than 5 times the vitamins by volume than any other substance known to man.

Airconditioning
I think you need to look at that again. What they show is the cost for the deposit on the 110lb cylinder. R414B costs about $250 for a 25lb. tank or about $10/lb. R12 cost anywhere from $18/lb and up when you can find it. Most R12 you will find is reaclaimed since it hasn't been manufactured since 1996. The tradename for R414B is Hotshot. I actually get it free since my friend is a HVAC tech.

Airconditioning
As an update to my post in this thread over a year ago, I'm using R414B in both of my formely R12 cars. No problems, whatsoever. It requires no modifications to the system. Just an evac of the R12 and recharge with the R414B. It runs the temp down to 32 degrees inside the vents!

EFI Fuel Tanks
When you say 'fuel stuff', I'm assuming you mean the lines, hoses etc. You would also need to switch to the system of relays that go with the fuel injection. And yes, that is an expansion tank rather than a surge tank.

Z Kid, such an astute observation, too bad it will just get lost in the shuffle of obscurity which is where dredged up old threads eventually end up. I just sigh and take it in stride.

Wheel Nuts
If you were closer, I'd send you some. I must have about 20-25 of those. Would they be worth the cost of shipping from the US?

Tough starting, stalled ... now dead
You might have a problem with the check valve on your fuel pump. I had a problem similar to what you describe with my 810 and if that check valve goes bad, the pump wont hold the fuel pressure as it lets it all drain back to the tank. I changed fuel pumps and haven't looked back. That may or may not be your problem but if you have access to a spare pump, swap it out ant give it a try. I worked for me.

Absolute Z Club BBQ in Long Beach, Ca
I installed new heater and a/c controlls. Pull my system down, ditched the R12, replaced some seals and o rings, and recharged it with R414B (Hotshot). It'll cool down to 32.1 deg. at the vents on high! I'll be there, riding in confort.

Can you top 650,000 miles on a Z?
We have estimated based on the limited info that I have from previous owners plus the miles I have put on it, that my 64 L320 has between 800k and 1,000,000 miles. I'm on the second engine since I've had it not counting the original engine that was in it when I bought it 25 years ago.

IIRC, diodes on their way out can also cause that scenario. I would remove it and have it bench tested.

I emailed the seller and asked if he had any documentation that it's a FRP car. No response so far.

Please Help!!!!!
I had a broken exhaust stud on the 810 when I got it. I pulled the manifolds, soaked the stud with penetrating oil, although I don't think that really did anything since it really couldn't get into the threads, and carefully removed it with a Craftsman bolt-out. It came out in one piece. I guess I was lucky.

New Poll of the month June 05
Well, even if someone wants V8s, wings, flares, etc. that's all right by me. It's not my car. As far as OEM parts go, I'll use them if I determine them to be the best part for the application. But I have also replaced some of the efi components on my cars with the actual Bosch parts rather than the JECS copies that Datsun/Nissan used. They are much easier to find, and IMO better quality parts. My vehicles are to be driven rather than admired (except maybe by me). It would be ludicrous for me to rely on 30+ year old hoses or even the flimsy clamps (again my opinion) that hold them on. I've even upgraded my a/c units from R12 to R414B. It's legal, costs less and is more efficient but I guess that's not technically a 'factory part' situation. I like Zs and Datsuns in all forms. I am just happy to see that there is still the type of interest in them that there is. Even if someone's Z has a V8, he chose that body for a reason.

240z window squeegee solutions
Steele and Metro and other places like that dont list anything actually for a Datsun so you have to buy bulk stuff and try to make it work. Might as well try JC Whitney. IMO $150 is not that much to spend on something that is the correct part for your car, and fits right out of the box.
