Saddest Day
Take it from someone who has given up TWO early 240Zs (70 & 72) AND a Datsun Roadster. KEEP THE Z! I also had two 510s but I don't miss them nearly as much. If your Z is in good workable condition, it can be made to be reliable. I depend on my 79 810 Coupe on a daily basis and my 280Z always starts and runs whenever I call on it. I know they're newer than your car but they're still over 25 years old. They can be dependable.

622 EDJ - 1971 Cal 240Z - help please
No, at least not in California. But there is a space on the pink slip for 'year first sold'. But sometimes there is a date there and sometimes it is just left blank. That is just one item on a long list of things that I have never understood about the California DMV system.

Sputtering/won't rev past 3500rpm...
Also, this issue has been mentioned in several other threads. Crap in the tank will hamper the performance of a carbureated car and virtually stop a fuel injected car. Been there, done that. Seven years ago, I was lucky enough to find a known-to-be-good used tank and replaced my clogged-up-from-sitting-four-years tank with it.

2+2 struts
I guess I should have been clearer. First of all, the book is wrong, they are not the same. When I said they'll fit I should have said that they'll bolt onto the car. Mr. Camouflage nicely clears up the rest of what I was trying to imply.

ZX Wheels (8) For Sale cheap!
The first attachment shows the 6 spokes. They're not bad, no curb rash, but they do have some small blemishes in them. The knock-offs don't come with them but they do have four good 'Z' caps. The second attachement shows the Iron Cross rims. The are polished and look quite good and come with the four center caps shown. I could look into shipping but I'd have to find boxes for them maybe at a custom wheel shop. It has been my experience that the shipping would cost more than the wheels and that's why I would really prefer to deal with someone local.

2+2 struts
They will fit, but like I said, it would be like putting station wagon springs on a coupe.

Recommendations on newer ignition and plugs
Wouldn't be us if we didn't :classic:

Recommendations on newer ignition and plugs
Well, like I said Bosch Platinum are my preference. All plug manufacturers make claims. You race, IIRC, so those things would be far more important in your case than in my occaisionally driven street vehicles where I don't think the melting point or the stength of the material would ever really come into play.

Recommendations on newer ignition and plugs
Victor has it right. The 'P' stands for projected tip and was used in the carbureated cars. I've always used Bosch Platinum in my Datsun engines but that is just my personal preference.

ZX Wheels (8) For Sale cheap!
Well, they didn't cost me that much to begin with (1/2 price sale at Pick A Part) and I did the polishing myself. I don't presently have a use for them, I need to clear some space in my garage, and I figured they'd look better on someones car than stacked in a corner.

ZX Wheels (8) For Sale cheap!
Cleaning out my garage. I have 8 ZX alloy rims, 4 6 spoke, 4 Iron Cross. They all have good caps, the Iron Cross rims are polished! The 6 spokes are in good condition with minor blemishes. I would prefer to sell them to someone local rather than deal with shipping. I'll take $50 for all eight of them. PM me if your interested.

Cable released hatch?
I don't know, Tomo. It doesn't look like there is room for something like that. This would be so much simpler if the latch and striker were designed like the sedans or the ZXs. When I had my 510, I used a latch and cable from a 710 or it might even have been a 810 and it bolted right in in place of the stock latch. Then it was just a matter of installing and routing the cable and mounting the handle assembly.

Interesting Read.
I don't, however, believe that $18700 is 'absolute top dollar' for one of these cars. Not even a 73. I mean that with no disrespect to 73s but I've always heard that the 73 was the least desirable of the 240Zs. I would pay that much and probably more for a pristine, showroom condition, low mileage 240. Any year. My 78, well that's just a driver. But a 240 is a 'collector.' Someday I truly feel that they wil get their due.

2+2 struts
IIRC, the difference would be that they are set up for a heavier car. At least, that is what I was told. They'd bolt up but they would probably make a non 2+2 sit higher.

Bill, that's really bold of you! Oh, you meant the Z.

Hemmings Motor News Z for Sale
Might be the paint manufacturers code for their equivalent of Datsun #907. Since the ad says 'factory paint' rather than 'original paint', I assume he's saying that it has been repainted. (I always like viewing that paint code chart epecially code #510 :devious:)(Thanks Michael P.)

What do you all think about this 240z
That must be "surface rust" then in those pictures.

Skyline Engine for 280 Z
You'll find that it's much more involved than dropping the motor in, moving a trans mount and hooking up the electrical. The cost figures don't seem right. If he spent $2K on the electrical that leaves $2K for the purchase of the engine, trans, and the rest of the parts? If that, along with the hp and performance figures, were true, there would really be "TONS" of us with RBs. In your research you will find it to be more costly and not quite as powerful as your friend states. Search this site for member Cuong Nguyen and you'll find info on his yellow RB powered 240Z.

Type R Watanabe's on ebay
I met him at the Mossy Nissan Show. Don't know what he's up to because the car looked pretty sweet to me as it was. I guess he's has other plans.

That was a hockey player. There are a lot of us here that would not consider that "U.S. Sports."

Yet another tire/wheel question
Don't you mean 195/70R14 and 185/80R14?
